Background： This study investigated the response of piglets receiving a yeast extract without or with a multi-enzyme mixture compared with an antimicrobial growth promoter（AGP） on performance, immune status and gut structure after an E. coli lipopolysaccharide（LPS） challenge. Thirty-six pigs were allotted to six treatments including： a non-challenged control（Ncc）; LPS-challenged control（cc）; cc ＋ AGP; cc ＋ yeast extract; cc ＋ enzymes; and cc ＋ enzymes ＋ yeast extract. On d 7, pigs were bled and thereafter injected with LPS or sterile saline. Blood samples were collected at 6, 48, and 96 h post-challenge. After 96 h post-challenge, pigs were euthanized to obtain duodenal, jejunal and ileal ***： Overall（d 1 to 11）, compared with cc pigs, AGP attenuated the LPS-induced reduction in ADG（P = 0.004）,ADFI（P = 0.03） and gain/feed ratio（P = 0.01）. At 6 h post-challenge, AGP pigs had lower plasma urea N（PUN; P = 0.02）and serum TNF-α concentration（P = 0.07）, and higher platelet count（P = 0.04） and serum IL-10 concentration（P = 0.02） than cc pigs. At 48 h post-challenge, AGP pigs had lower PUN（P = 0.02） than cc pigs, whereas enzymes ＋ yeast extract interacted non-additively（P = 0.001） to reduce PUN. At 96 h post-challenge, AGP pigs had lower PUN（P = 0.02）and higher duodenal（P = 0.03）, jejunal（P = 0.01） and ileal（P = 0.07） villus height than cc pigs. In addition, enzymes ＋yeast extract interacted additively and non-additively to reduce ileal IFN-γ（P 0.10） were observed between AGP and enzymes ＋ yeast extract pigs on other measured parameters except for the downregulation of ileal IFN-γ（P ＆lt; 0.0001） and TNF-α（P = 0.003） in enzymes ＋ yeast extract pigs at 96 h ***： The LPS challenged piglets receiving enzymes ＋ yeast extract showed beneficial responses in gut structure and immunity commensurate with those receiving antibiotics, though the latter had better overall growth performance.

Anostraca are known by their ability for long-distance dispersal,but the existence in several species of deep,geographically structured mtDNA lineages suggests their populations are subjected to allopatric differentiation,isolation,and prevalence of local scale *** stagnalis is one of the most widespread species of Anostraca and previous studies revealed an unclear geographical pattern of mtDNA genetic ***,we analyze populations from the Iberian and Italian Peninsulas,central Europe,and Scandinavia,with the aim to characterize the patterns of genetic diversity in a spatio-temporal framework using mtDNA and nuclear markers to test gene flow among close *** these aims we built a time-calibrated phylogeny and carried out Bayesian phylogeographic analyses using a continuous diffusion *** results indicated that *** presents a deeply structured genetic diversity,including 7 ancient lineages,some of them even predating the *** Iberian Peninsula harbors high diversity of lineages,with strong isolation and recent absence of gene flow between *** at local scale seems to be the prevailing dispersal mode of ***,which exhibits a pattern of isolation-bydistance in the Iberian *** remark the vulnerability of most of these lineages,given the limited known geographic distribution of some of them,and the high risk of losing important evolutionary potential for the species.

Objective:The objective of the study is to describe the work-related quality of life(WRQOL)among nurses and explore its association with performance evaluation ***:A cross-sectional design was utilized measuring the WRQOL scale and the previous performance appraisal *** sampling approach was utilized with nurses stratified based on their position and then systematically random sampled based on their unit ***:One hundred and eighty-two nurses were *** half reported a high quality of work life(101;55.5%).Low scores were noted on the subscale working conditions(100;54.9%),low to average responses for home-work interface(109;59.9%),control at work(100;54.9%),and stress at work(90;49.5%).A higher proportion of nurses reported positive responses toward the areas of general well-being(113;62.1%)and job-career satisfaction(112;61.5%),than in the other *** were notable differences between WRQOL ratings:(1)Head nurses had the highest perceived quality of work life,followed by nurse supervisors and charge nurses(F=6.1,Pces reported lower quality of working life,while those in office and outpatient services had more positive scores(F=4.6,Pconclusion:Only more than half of the nurses reported a high quality of work life,some of its dimensions,particularly job and career satisfaction and working conditions,appeared to vary in the perceived degree across years in service,work hours,and *** assessment of the quality of work life may serve as an important tool to address staff burnout,absenteeism and other issues that affect job performance among health-care professionals.

In this work,a method to improve the protection against corrosion of porous sintered stainless steel is *** is based on the electrodeposition of polypyrrole(PPy)layers doped with a large size counterion such as dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid(DBSA),a conducting polymer with high corrosion resistance and good *** efficacy of PPy coating depends on the adequate adhesion between the metal substrate and the coating *** protection against corrosion has been tested using 316 L stainless steel(SS)powder sintered at different conditions to evaluate the effect of the sintering atmosphere(nitrogen and vacuum)and cooling rates(furnace and water)on corrosion resistance,while wrought 316 L SS has been used as reference *** addition,two electrochemical deposition techniques have been tested to select the most *** circuit potential evolution,anodic polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectra have been used to evaluate corrosion protection in phosphate buffer saline *** has been evidenced that a more homogeneous and stable coating was obtained in the case of porous stainless *** corrosion potential shifted to nobler values and the anodic polarization branch became more *** porous samples have a good passivation performance with a lower stable passive current density and a higher breakdown *** transfer electronic resistance and the impedance module increase more than one order of ***,the porosity of sintered stainless steel is seen as an advantage for the improvement of the adherence of the PPy *** best corrosion protection is found for samples sintered in nitrogen and water-cooled.

Hydrogen emission by wood-feeding termites, coptotermes formosanus, Reticulitermes flavipes and Reticulitermes virginicus, was investigated upon a cellulosic substrate as their food source. The emission rates among the three species tested were significantly different and R. virginicus demonstrated the greatest H2 emission at 4.78 ± 0.15μmol/h/g body weight. In a sealed test apparatus, H2 emission for each termite species showed a quick increase at the initial incubation hours （3-6 h）, followed by a slower growth, possibly due to the feedback inhibition by gas accumulation. Further investigation revealed that continuous H2 emission could be maintained by reducing the H2 partial pressure in the sealed container. The bioconversion of cellulose to molecular H2 by the subterranean termites tested could reach as high as 3 858 ± 294μmol/g cellulose, suggesting that the termite gut system is unique and efficient in H2 conversion from cellulosic substrate.

This letter focuses on a recently published article that provided an exceptional description of the effect of epigenetic modifications on gene expression patterns related to skeletal system ***,it discusses a novel modality of epigenetic regulation,the long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs),and provides evidence of their involvement in mesenchymal stromal/stem cells osteo-/adipogenic differentiation *** focus on lncRNAs,there is an emerging cross talk between lncRNAs and miRNAs interaction as a novel mechanism in the regulation of the function of the musculoskeletal system,by controlling bone homeostasis and bone regeneration,as well as the osteogenic differentiation of stem ***,we touched on some examples to demonstrate this *** addition,we believe there is still much to discover from the effects of lncRNAs on progenitor and non-progenitor cell *** incorporated data from other published articles to review lncRNAs in normal progenitor cell osteogenic differentiation,determined lncRNAs involved in osteoarthritis pathogenesis in progenitor cells,and provided a review of lncRNAs in non-progenitor cells that are differentially regulated in *** conclusion,we really enjoyed reading this article and with this information we hope to further our understanding of lncRNAs and mesenchymal stromal/stem cells regulation.

Migraine is a recurrent and commonly disabling primary headache disorder that affects over 17% of women and 5%-8% of men. Migraine susceptibility is multifactorial with genetic, hormonal and environmental factors all playing an important role. The physiopathology of migraine is complex and still not fully understood. Many different neuropeptides, neurotransmitters and brain pathways have been implicated. In connection with the myriad mechanisms and pathways implicated in migraine, a variety of multisystemic comorbidities(e.g., cardiovascular, psychiatric and other neurological conditions) have been found to be closely associated with migraine. Recent reports demonstrate an increased frequency of gastrointestinal(GI) disorders in patients with migraine compared with the general population. Helicobacter pylori infection, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroparesis, hepatobiliary disorders, celiac disease and alterations in the microbiota have been linked to the occurrence of migraine. Several mechanisms involving the gut-brain axis, such as a chronic inflammatory response with inflammatory and vasoactive mediators passing to the circulatory system, intestinal microbiota modulation of the enteric immunological milieu and dysfunction of the autonomic and enteric nervous system, have been postulated to explain these associations. However, the precise mechanisms and pathways related to the gut-brain axis in migraine need to be fully elucidated. In this review, we survey the available literature linking migraine with GI disorders. We discuss the possible physiopathological mechanisms, and clinical implications as well as several future areas of interest for research.
