Numerical Modeling and Technico-Economic Analysis of a Hybrid Energy Production System for Self-Consumption: Case of Rural Area in the Comoros

This study aims to provide electricity to a remote village in the Union of Comoros that has been affected by energy problems for over 40 years. The study uses a 50 kW diesel generator, a 10 kW wind turbine, 1500 kW photovoltaic solar panels, a converter, and storage batteries as the proposed sources. The main objective of this study is to conduct a detailed analysis and optimization of a hybrid diesel and renewable energy system to meet the electricity demand of a remote area village of 800 to 1500 inhabitants located in the north of Ngazidja Island in Comoros. The study uses the Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) Pro to conduct simulations and optimize the analysis using meteorological data from Comoros. The results show that hybrid combination is more profitable in terms of margin on economic cost with a less expensive investment. With a diesel cost of $1/L, an average wind speed of 5.09 m/s and a solar irradiation value of 6.14 kWh/m2/day, the system works well with a proportion of renewable energy production of 99.44% with an emission quantity of 1311.407 kg/year. 99.2% of the production comes from renewable sources with an estimated energy surplus of 2,125,344 kWh/year with the cost of electricity (COE) estimated at $0.18/kWh, presenting a cost-effective alternative compared to current market rates. These results present better optimization of the used hybrid energy system, satisfying energy demand and reducing the environmental impact.

The Comoros is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean located in the Mozambique Channel between the African continent and Madagascar. Geographically Comoros is composed of four islands: Grande Comores, Anjouan, Mohéli and Mayotte (under French administration). Apart from Mayotte, the others three independent islands commonly known as the Union of the Comoros are suffering from energy stress since their independence year 1975 until nowadays. The energy supplied and distributed by the national electricity company, SONELEC produced by diesel engines, is not stable with so much load shedding all the time. This instability energy leads to a lack of a phone network in some telecommunications towers connected to grid. The majority of telecommunications towers are located in rural areas not connected to grid and running on diesel generators, which once again leads to a problem with the telecommunications network when diesel engines fail. The two competing companies which operate in the field of telecommunications in the Comoros, namely Comores Télécom, a national public company and Telma, the private one, are still unable to ensure the provision of the telecommunications network on a regular basis. This is why we propose in the present work, a sizing of hybrid system composed essentially of a diesel generator, a wind turbine and a photovoltaic solar system with storage in batteries for supplying telecommunications towers in order to permanently ensure the provision of the telecommunications network for the well-being of the population. Our future energy must be based on non-polluting energies with significant resources. Computational calculations using density functional theory(DFT) were performed for the first time using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method(FP-LAPW + LO) to determine the structural, elastic, electronic and magnetic properties of europium-based cubic perovskites EuYO_(3)(Y=Cr, Mn, Fe). The exchange correlation potentials of GGA along with some analytical methods were adopted for the computation of structural and elastic properties. Moreover, the GGA + U formalism was also added for obtaining more precise electronic and magnetic properties, particularly to address the Eu-4f and Y-3d orientations in the spin-polarized double cell symmetry. The observed lattice parameters of these compounds are consistent with experiment. The observed bulk moduli predict that EuCrO_(3) is harder and less compressible than EuMnO_(3) and EuFeO_(3). The calculated tolerance factors of these compounds are within the cubic symmetry range. Our computed critical radius of EuCrO_(3) shows that EuCrO_(3) has a larger migration energy. Based on their elastic properties, these compounds are ductile in nature. We also computed the thermal properties of these compounds. The band structures and density of states show that these compounds are metallic in character. The lowest ground state energy and magnetic moments of these compounds expose their ferromagnetic nature. The metallic nature and strong ferromagnetism of these compounds make them promising applicants for application in spintronic.

Pedo-spectroscopy has the potential to provide valuable information about soil physical,chemical,and biological ***,wemay predict soil properties usingVNIRfield imaging spectra(IS)such as Prisma satellite data or laboratory spectra(LS).The primary goal of this study is to investigate machine learning models namely Partial Least Squares Regression(PLSR)and Support Vector Regression(SVR)for the prediction of several soil properties,including clay,sand,silt,organic matter,nitrate NO3-,and calcium carbonate CaCO_(3),using five VNIR spectra dataset combinations(%IS,%LS)as follows:C1(0%IS,100%LS),C2(20%IS,80%LS),C3(50%IS,50%LS),C4(80%IS,20%LS)and C5(100%IS,0%LS).Soil samples were collected at bare soils and at the upper(0–30 cm)*** data set has been split into a training dataset 80%of the collected data(n=248)and a validation dataset 20%of the collected data(n=61).The proposed PLSR and SVR models were trained then tested for each dataset *** to our results,SVR outperforms PLSR for both:C1(0%IS,100%LS)and C5(100%IS,0%LS).For Soil Organic Matter(SOM)prediction,it achieves(R^(2)=0.79%,RMSE=1.42%)and(R^(2)=0.76%,RMSE=1.3%),*** data fusion has improved the soil property *** highest improvement was obtained for the SOM property(R^(2)=0.80%,RMSE=1.39)when using the SVR model and applying the second Combination C2(20% of IS and 80%LS).

OBJECTIVE:To characterize the chemical profile of methanolic crude extract and its fractions(Ethyl acetate,n-butanol and aqueous)using liquid chromatographymass spectrometry(LC-MS)analysis,to evaluate their biological and pharmacological properties:antioxidant(1,1-diphenyl-2-pycrylhydrazyl(DPPH),2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic)(ABTS·+),galvinoxyle free radical scavenging,reducing power,phenanthroline andβcarotene-linoleic acid bleaching assays),enzymes inhibitory ability against several enzymes[acetylcholinesterase(AChE),buthyrylcholinesterase(BChE),urease and tyrosinase].METHODS:Secondary metabolites were extracted from Tamarix africana air-dried powdered leaves by maceration,the crude extract was fractionated using different solvents with different polarities(Ethyl acetate,n-butanol and aqueous).The amount of polyphenols,flavonoids and tannins(hydrolysable and condensed)were determined using colorimetric assays.A variety of in vitro biochemical tests were carried out to assess antioxidant and oxygen radical scavenging properties using DPPH,ABTS,galvinoxyle free radical scavenging,reducing power,phenanthroline andβcarotene-linoleic acid bleaching *** effect was examined against acetylcholinesterase and buthyrylcholinesterase *** anti-urease and antityrosinase activities were performed against urease and tyrosinase enzymes *** extract’s components were identified using LC-MS and compared to reference ***:The results indicated that Tamarix africana extracts presented a powerful antioxidant activity in all assays and exhibited a potent inhibitory effect against AChE and BChE as well as urease and tyrosinase ***-MS analysis identified amount of eight phenolic compounds were revealed in this analysis;Apigenin,Diosmin,Quercetin,Quercetine-3-glycoside,Apigenin 7-O glycoside,Rutin,Neohesperidin and Wogonin in methanolic extract and its different fractions of Tamarix africana from ***

In this paper,porous partially fluorinated graphene(PFG)for supercapacitors(SCs)was fabricated by a mild and secure one-pot hydrothermal method utilizing weakly coordinating anion BF_(4)^(-) as the fluorine *** hydrolysis rate of sodium fluoroborate was adjusted by controlling the reaction temperature and PFG containing semi-ionic C-F bonds was obtained,where the content of semi-ionic C-F bonds in PFG can be easily *** final experimental results show that the incorporation of fluorine not only modulates the electrochemical properties of the material,but also creates abundant *** assembled in a symmetric supercapacitor,the PFG shows a high specific capacitance of 269.7 F g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1) and a superior rate capability with 89.3%capacitance retained,as the current density is increased from 1 A g^(-1)even to 20 A g^(-1).Furthermore,the resultant energy density for PFG is 9.4 Wh kg^(-1) at a power density of 250.0 W kg^(-1)(1 A g^(-1)).All these results confirm that as-prepared partially fluorinated graphene is appropriate for the application in SCs and mass production.

NLO response of derivatives of benzene, stilbene and diphenylacetylene：MP2 and DFT calculations

MP2 method and different functionals such as M06-HF, M06-2X, CAM-B3 LYP, PBE0, B3 LYP and M06 L incorporating different XC amounts were used to calculate the static first hyperpolarizabilies β(0) of eight molecules which are derivatives of benzene, stilbene and diphenylacetylene. The values were then compared to the experimental ones. The M06-2X functional was then selected for further calculations. NBO calculations were also performed to define the intramolecular charge transfer in each molecule. TD-DFT calculations were performed taking into account the solvent effect using the IEF-PCM formalism. Some parameters characterizing the vertical transitions such as the wavelength of the maximum absorption λ_(max) were compared to the experimental ones. Finally,solvation Gibbs free enthalpy ΔG_(solv) values have also been examined in order to determine which the specific solvent for a given molecule is.

Mechanism of Silver Nanoparticles Deposition by Electrolysis and Electroless Methods on a Graphite Substrate

This study shows a silver electrodeposition model (EDM) on a graphite substrate. The electrolyte was a 0.01 M solution of pure silver and chromium nitrate using an electrolyzing cell. EDC with current density up to 20 mA/cm2 and 15 mV and pulse current were studied. Results revealed that silver deposited at a rate of 0.515 mg/cm2/min with 12 mA/cm2 that decreases to 0.21 and 0.16 mg/cm2·min with the decrease of current density to 6 and 5 mA/cm2 respectively. The model postulates that silver ions (a) were first hydrated before diffusing (b) from the solution bulk to the cathode vicinity, The next step (c) involved the chemical adsorption of these ions on certain accessible sites of the graphite substrate (anode), The discharged entities (d) adhere to the graphite surface by Van der Vales force. Silver ions are deposited because the discharge potential of silver is low (0.38 mV) as compared to other metal ions like chromium (0.82 mV). Pulse current controls silver deposition due to flexibility in controlling steps (a)-(c) of the deposition mechanisms. Parameters like current density, current on-time, current-off time, duty cycle (ratio of current on time and total pulse time) and pulse frequency influenced the shape and size of the deposits. Step (b) suggested that silver particles were deposited in a monolayer thickness. The silver layer turned multiple after fully satisfying the accessible sites with the monolayer. The activation energy ΔE value amounts to 86.32 kJ/mol/K. At high temperature and current density, homogeneous diffusion occurs.
