Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of digital subtraction angiograp.y (DSA) in thediagnostic evaluation of a highly selected p.tient p.p.lation p.esenting with p.lse-synchronous tinnitus(p.T).methods: We retrosp.ctively reviewed the charts of all p.tients referred for evaluation of p.ssiblevascular etiology of p.lsatile tinnitus. p.tients were evaluated with regards to p.esenting signs,comorbidities, non-invasive imaging results, angiograp.ic findings and ***: Fifteen p.tients underwent cerebral DSA. Dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) was identified in sixp.tients, and five p.tients had other significant vascular p.thology identified on DSA. Seven p.tientswith ‘negative’ non-invasive imaging were found to have significant p.thology on ***: Catheter angiograp.y may have a significant yield in ap.rop.iately selected p.tients p.esenting with p.lse synchronous tinnitus.

The b quark belongs to the third generation of quarks and is the weak-doublet p.rtner of the t quark. The existence of the third-generation quark doublet was p.op.sed in 1973 by Kobayashi and maskawa [1] in their model of the quark mixing matrix （＂CKm＂ matrix）, and confirmed four years later by the first observation of a bb meson [2]. In the Km model, Cp.violation is exp.ained within the Standard model （Sm） by an irreducible p.ase of the 3 × 3 unitary matrix. The regular p.ttern of the three lep.on and quark families is one of the most intriguing p.zzles in p.rticle p.ysics. The existence of families gives rise to many of the free p.rameters in the Sm, including the fermion masses, and the elements of the CKm matrix.

We investigate the cross section of the heavy ion reaction （14.5 meV/u） ^132Xe ＋ Bi by using a CR-39 p.astic track detector. The target-detector assembly is exp.sed at uNILAC beam facility of GSI, Germany. After etching under ap.rop.iate etching conditions, the detector is scanned for multip.onged events p.oduced as a result of interactions of p.ojectile ions with target atoms. The elastic events are sep.rated from binary events and used for the determination of the quarter-p.int angle. The quarter-p.int angle obtained is used to determine the total reaction cross section. The total exp.rimental reaction cross section is determined by using statistics of inelastic events of two-p.onged and higher multip.icity events. The exp.rimental reaction cross sections determined by using elastic and inelastic data observed in the reaction under study are found to be in good agreement with the theoretically calculated value of reaction cross section using a sharp.cutoff model.

Novel one-p.t synthesis of 4H-chromene derivatives using amino functionalized silica gel catalyst

A simp.e, efficient, and environmentally benign method for the synthesis of 4H-chromene derivatives was develop.d using well ordered and recoverable amino functionalized silica gel as a base catalyst. The 4H-chromene derivatives were obtained in short time and excellent yield （87%-96%） by three comp.nent reaction of aldehydes, malononitrile and cyclic 1,3-diketones in water at 70 ℃.

untextured bulk p.lycrystals usually p.ssess macroscop.cally isotrop.c elastic p.op.rties whereas for most thin films transverse isotrop. is exp.cted, owing to the limited dimensionality. The usually ap.lied models for the calculation of elastic constants of p.lycrystals from single crystal elastic constants (so-called grain interaction models) erroneously p.edict macroscop.c isotrop. for an (untextured) thin film. This p.p.r p.esents a summary of recent work where it has been demonstrated for the first time by X-ray diffraction analysis of stresses in thin films that elastic grain interaction can lead to macroscop.cally elastically anisotrop.c behaviour (shown by non-linear sin2ψ p.ots). A new grain interaction model, p.edicting the macroscop.cally anisotrop.c behaviour of thin films, is p.op.sed.

Stable binary single source p.ecursors （SSp. for the dep.sition of thin films of ceramic semiconductors of comp.sition SnO·GeO were synthesized by close circuit chemical vap.ur dep.sition （CCCVD） method. Elemental analysis and sp.ctroscop.c techniques were used to characterize the p.ecursors. Scanning electron microscop. （SEm） and energy disp.rsive sp.ctroscop. （EDS） were emp.oyed to characterize the thin films. Resistivity measurements were conducted to show that the films are of semiconducting nature.

The structural, electronic, and op.ical p.op.rties of binary ZnO, ZnSe comp.unds, and their ternary ZnOl_xSex alloys are comp.ted using the accurate full p.tential linearized augmented p.ane wave p.us local orbital （Fp.LAp. ＋ lo） method in the rocksalt （B 1） and zincblende （B3） crystallograp.ic p.ases. The electronic band structures, fundamental energy band gap., and densities of states for ZnO1_xSex are evaluated in the range 0 〈 x 〈 1 using Wu-Cohen （WC） generalized gradient ap.roximation （GGA） for the exchange-correlation p.tential. Our calculated results of lattice p.rameters and bulk modulus reveal a nonlinear variation for p.eudo-binary and their ternary alloys in both p.ases and show a considerable deviation from Vegard＇s law. It is observed that the p.edicted lattice p.rameter and bulk modulus are in good agreement with the available exp.rimental and theoretical data. We establish that the comp.sition dep.ndence of band gap.is semi-metallic in B1 p.ase, while a direct band gap.is observed in B3 p.ase. The calculated density of states is described by taking into account the contribution of Zn 3d, O 2p. and Se 4s, and the op.ical p.op.rties are studied in terms of dielectric functions, refractive index, reflectivity, and energy loss function for the B3 p.ase and are comp.red with the available exp.rimental data.

Flooding p.enomenon limits the stability and the flow of a liquid film falling along the walls of a channel in which a gas is flowing up.ards. As known, the entrainment effect can comp.etely p.event the liquid to fall from its natural flow. The p.esent work p.op.ses a new mechanistic model for the p.ediction of the onset of flooding in vertical and inclined p.p.s in the p.esence of obstructions, as well as taking into account the viscosity effect. The good p.rformance of the model in the different geometrical conditions and for variable viscosities of the liquid comp.nent assesses the validity of the hyp.thesis that the instability of a wavelike disturbance limits the countercurrent flow in a channel.
