Bio-inspired helicoidal composite laminates, inspired by the intricate helical structures found in nature, present a promising frontier for enhancing the mechanical properties of structural designs. Hence, this study provides a comprehensive investigation into the nonlinear free vibration and nonlinear bending behavior of bio-inspired composite plates. The inverse hyperbolic shear deformation theory(IHSDT) of plates is employed to characterize the displacement field, with the incorporation of Green-Lagrange nonlinearity. The problem is modeled using the C0finite element method(FEM), and an in-house code is developed in the MATLAB environment to solve it numerically. various helicoidal layup configurations including helicoidal recursive(HR), helicoidal exponential(HE), helicoidal semi-circular(HS), linear helicoidal(LH), and Fibonacci helicoidal(FH)with different layup sequences and quasi-isotropic configurations are studied. The model is validated, and parametric studies are conducted. These studies investigate the effects of layup configurations, side-to-thickness ratio, modulus ratios, boundary conditions, and loading conditions at different load amplitudes on the nonlinear vibration and nonlinear bending behaviors of bio-inspired composite plates. The results show that the laminate sequence exerts a substantial impact on both nonlinear natural frequencies and nonlinear bending behaviors. Moreover, this influence varies across different side-to-thickness ratios and boundary conditions of the bio-inspired composite plate.

Aim:Leelamine(LLM)inhibits the growth of human prostate cancer cells but the underlying mechanism is not fully *** present study was undertaken to determine the effect of LLM on cMyc,which is overexpressed in a subset of human prostate ***:The effect of LLM on cMyc expression and activity was determined by western blotting/confocal microscopy and luciferase reporter assay,respectively.A transgenic mouse model of prostate cancer(Hi-Myc)was used to determine the chemopreventive efficacy of ***:Exposure of androgen-sensitive(LNCaP)and castration-resistant(22Rv1)human prostate cancer cells to LLM resulted in downregulation of protein and mRNA levels of *** of cMyc partially attenuated LLM-mediated inhibition of colony formation,cell viability,and cell migration in 22Rv1 and/or PC-3 *** treatment decreased protein levels of cMyc targets(e.g.,lactate dehydrogenase),however,overexpression of cMyc did not attenuate these effects.A trend for a decrease in the expression level of cMyc protein was discernible in 22Rv1 xenografts from LLM-treated mice compared with control *** treatment(10 mg/kg body weight,5 times/week)was well-tolerated by Hi-Myc transgenic *** incidence of high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia,adenocarcinoma in situ,and microinvasion were lower in LLM-treated Hi-Myc mice but the difference was not statistically ***:The present study reveals that LLM inhibits cMyc expression in human prostate cancer cells in vitro but concentrations higher than 10 mg/kg may be required to achieve chemoprevention of prostate cancer.

Idli is a popular Indian breakfast dish consumed by many people all over the world,made from white rice(Oryza sativum)(75%–80%)and black gram(Phaseolus mungo)(20%–25%).Idli’s wide consumption makes it ideal as a model for studying acceptability of a food reformulated with whole *** objective was to compare acceptability regarding texture,color and sensory properties when white rice was replaced with brown rice at 5 replacement levels(0%(control),25%,50%,75%and 100%).Textural attributes and L*a*b*color values were measured by a texture analyzer and a Chroma meter,*** and blind sensory tests were *** hardness and gumminess were proportional to the level of whole grain replacement,while springiness and cohesiveness did not vary by replacement *** ratings for overall acceptability were similar at the three lowest levels of brown rice *** brown rice replacement reduced the liking score for various sensory attributes,especially for 75%and 100%replacements,more than 90%of the panelists preferred brown-rice-blended idli as their first *** are ample opportunities to increase whole grain consumption through reformulation of regularly consumed traditional refined grain foods by partial or complete replacement with whole grains.©2013 Beijing Academy of Food *** and hosting by Elsevier *** rights reserved.

M5 model tree,random forest regression(RF)and neural network(NN)based modelling approaches were used to predict oblique load carrying capacity of batter pile groups using 247 laboratory experiments with smooth and rough pile *** length(L),angle of oblique load(a),sand density(ρ),number of batter piles(B),and number of vertical piles(v)as input and oblique load(Q)as output was *** suggest improved performance by RF regression for both pile groups.M5 model tree provides simple linear relation which can be used for the prediction of oblique load for field data *** developed using RF regression approach with smooth pile group data was found to be in good agreement for rough piles *** based approach was found performing equally well with both smooth and rough *** analysis using all three modelling approaches suggest angle of oblique load(a)and number of batter pile(B)affect the oblique load capacity for both smooth and rough pile groups.

Objective:To evaluate the possible antifilarial effect of ethyl acetate extract of vitex negundo(verhenaceae)leaves against Selaria cervi filarial parasite in ***:In vitro screening was done by the method of motility inhibition and NTT reduction assay with concentralions of0.03 to 1.00 mg/mL for 2 to 24 h incubation periods respectively,for possible antifilarial effect by comparing with ***:In motility assay,complete inhibition of motility was observed and in MTT reduction assay which gave>50%reduction for concentrations 0.20,0.50and 1.00 mg/mL at 10,6 and 2 h incubation periods respectively in a dose dependent manner(Pract was found to be a function of their relative *** concentration(IC_(50))for the plant extract was found to be 0.16mg/***:The present study recorded significant antifilarial effect of vitex negundo plant extract and contributed toward the development of database for novel drug candidates for lymphatic fllariasis.

here are limitations in using the seasonal rainfall total in studies of Monsoon rainfall climatology. A correlation analysis of the individual station seasonal rainfall with all India seasonal mean rainfall has been made. After taking the significance test (strictly up to 5% level) the stations which are significantly correlated have been considered in this study in normal, flood and drought years respectively. Analysis of seasonal rainfall data of 50 stations spread over a period of 41 years suggests that a linear relationship fits better than the logarithmic relationship when seasonal rainfall versus number of rainy days is studied. The linear relationship is also found to be better in the case of seasonal rainfall versus mean daily intensity.

Fatigue crack growth simulations of 3-D linear elastic cracks under thermal load by XFEM

This paper deals with the fatigue crack growth simulations of three-dimensional linear elastic cracks by XFEM under cyclic thermal load. Both temperature and displacement approximations are extrinsically enriched by Heaviside and crack front enrichment functions. Crack growth is modelled by successive linear extensions, and the end points of these linear extensions are joined by cubic spline segments to obtain a modified crack front. Different crack geometries such as planer, non-planer and arbitrary spline shape cracks are simulated under thermal shock, adiabatic and isothermal loads to reveal the sturdiness and versatility of the XFEM approach.
