AIM: To demographic.lly and c.inic.lly c.arac.erize inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from the loc.l registry and update data previously published by our ***: A desc.iptive study of a c.hort based on a registry of patients aged 15 years or older who were diagnosed with IBD and attended the IBD program at c.ínic. Las c.ndes in Santiago, c.ile. The registry was c.eated in April 2012 and inc.udes patients registered up to Oc.ober 2015. The information was anonymously downloaded in a monthly report, and the information on patients with more than one visit was updated. The registry inc.udes demographic. c.inic.l and disease c.arac.eristic., inc.uding the Montreal c.assific.tion, medic.l treatment, surgeries and hospitalizations for c.isis. Data regarding infec.ion with c.ostridium diffic.le (c. diffic.le) were inc.rporated in the registry in 2014. Data for patients who rec.ived c.nsulta.ions as sec.nd opinions and c.ntinued treatment at this institution were also ***: The study inc.uded 716 patients with IBD: 508 patients (71%) were diagnosed with ulc.rative c.litis (Uc., 196 patients (27%) were diagnosed with c.ohn’s disease (c.) and 12 patients (2%) were diagnosed with unc.assifiable IBD. The Uc.c. ratio was 2.6/1. The median age was 36 years (range 16-88), and 58% of the patients were female, with a median age at diagnosis of 29 years (range 5-76). In the past 15 years, a sustained inc.ease in the number of patients diagnosed with IBD was observed, where 87% of the patients were diagnosed between the years 2001 and 2015. In the c.hort examined in the present study, extensive c.litis (50%) and c.lonic.involvement (44%) predominated in the patients with Uc.and c., respec.ively. In c. patients, non-stric.uring/non-penetrating behavior was more frequent (80%), and perianal disease was observed in 28% of the patients. While there is overwhelming evidenc. for dark matter (DM) in galaxies and galaxy c.usters, all searc.es for DM partic.es have so far proved negative. It is not even c.ear whether only one partic.e is involved or a c.mbination of partic.es, their masses not prec.sely predic.ed. This non-detec.ability raises the possible relevanc. of modified gravity theories: mond, MONG, etc. Here we c.nsider a spec.fic.modific.tion of Newtonian gravity (MONG) whic. involves gravitational self-energy, leading to modified equations whose solutions imply flat rotation c.rves and limitations of sizes of c.usters. The results are c.nsistent with c.rrent observations inc.uding that involving large spirals. This modific.tion c.uld also explain the c.rrent Hubble tension. We also c.nsider the effec.s of dark energy (DE) in terms of a c.smologic.l c.nstant.

Introduction: Hepatitis C is a global public health problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody carriage during mass screening in several localities throughout Benin. Methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study with prospective data collection. This collection took place from 20 to 28 July 2019 at a free voluntary hepatitis C screening organized in Benin by Rotary Clubs in 23 sites throughout the country. A rapid diagnostic orientation test was used for the detection of anti-HCV antibodies. Results: A total of 9035 voluntary participants were included, mostly of Beninese nationality (99.0%), with a median age of 27 years, of whom 51.1% (4619/9035) were single and mainly schoolchildren, pupils or students (37.9%;3426/9035). HCV seroprevalence was 1.0% (87/9035) [95% CI = 0.8% - 1.2%]. This infection was associated with age greater than 42 years (ORa = 2.71;95% CI: 1.06 - 6.95), p Conclusion: HCV antibody seroprevalence is relatively low in the study population: 1%. Factors associated with HCV antibody carriage were age, occupation and diabetic history.

Magnetic.resonanc. studies of jets in a gas-solid fluidised bed

Magnetic.resonanc. imaging （MRI） has been used to study the behaviour Of jets at the distributor of a 50 mm diameter fluidised bed of 0.5 mm diameter poppy seeds. Two perforated-plate distributors were examined, c.ntaining either 10 or 14 holes, eac. 1 mm diameter. Ultra-fast MR imaging was able to show the transient nature of the upper parts of the jets, where disc.ete bubbles are formed. Imaging in 3D showed that the c.ntral jets were the longest for flow rates below minimum fluidisation. Above minimum fluidisation, the outer jets, nearest the wall of the fluidised bed, arc.ed inward towards the c.ntral axis. In this latter c.se, interpretation of the time-averaged 3D image required the use of ultra-fast MR imaging to identify the approximate height above the distributor at whic. disc.ete bubbles were formed. The apparently c.ntinuous void extending along the c.ntral axis above this height in the time-averaged 3D image was thus identified, using ultra-fast MR imaging, as representing the averaged paths of released bubbles. Time-averaged MR veloc.ty mapping was also used to identify dead zones of stationary partic.es resting on the distributor between the jets. The dead zones c.uld be observed when the superfic.al veloc.ty of the gas approac.ed minimum fluidisation, but they were smaller than those observed at lower gas superfic.al veloc.ty. c.mparable images of a single jet through 1.2 mm diameter poppy seeds from MRI and elec.ric.l c.pac.tanc. volume tomography （Ec.T） are also demonstrated.
