Detection of spikes is the first important step toward image-based quantitative assessment of crop ***,spikes of grain plants occupy only a tiny fraction of the image area and often emerge in the middle of the mass of plant leaves that exhibit similar colors to spike ***,accurate detection of grain spikes renders,in general,a non-trivial task even for advanced,state-of-the-art deep neural networks(DNNs).To improve pattern detection in spikes,we propose architectural changes to faster-RCNN(fRCNN)by reducing feature extraction layers and introducing a global attention *** performance of our extended fRCNN-A *** fRCNN was compared on images of different European wheat cultivars,including"difficult"bushy phenotypes from 2 different phenotyping facilities and optical *** experimental results show that introduced architectural adaptations in fRCNN-A helped to improve spike detection accuracy in inner *** mean average precision(mAP)of fRCNN and fRCNN-A on inner spikes is 76.0%and 81.0%,respectively,while on the state-of-the-art detection DNNs,Swin Transformer mAP is 83.0%.As a lightweight network,fRCNN-A is faster than fRCNN and Swin Transformer on both baseline and augmented training *** the fastGAN augmented dataset,fRCNN achieved a mAP of 84.24%,fRCNN-Aattained a mAP of 85.0%,and the Swin Transformer achieved a mAP of 89.45%.The increase in mAP of DNNs on the augmented datasets is proportional to the amount of the IPK original and augmented ***,this study indicates a superior performance of attention mechanisms-based deep learning models in detecting small and subtle features of grain spikes.

Multicast device-to-device(D2D)communication technology is considered as one of the new technologies in the fifth generation(5G)networks that directly addresses the need for content sharing among internet *** fact,when direct communication is available between devices,the spectral efficiency is improved by reusing the licensed cellular *** current studies show that D2D communication increases network capacity and reduces *** order to achieve the alternate capabilities,coordination is required to implement interference *** considered subcarrier allocation for the uplink,in addition to the power control that takes place on the underlay *** completed data rate in single multicast communication is significantly reduced and limited by nodes with lower channel *** this paper,we used Shuffled frog Leaping Algorithm(SfLA)for resource allocation(ra)in D2D multicast *** compared the results of the SfLA algorithm with the firefly Algorithm(fA),Ant Colony Optimization(ACO)and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO);in terms of D2D user throughput,Cellular User(CU)throughput,network average throughput,network interference and signal interference noise ratio(SINR)*** simulation results show that SfLA clearly outperforms other algorithms in terms of data rate under the high pressure of infeasibility.

A Retrospective Analysis of Intoxicated Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit: A Single-Institution Assessment in the Post-Pandemic Period

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients with acute intoxication admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Material and Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted on intoxicated patients who admitted to ICU between January 2022 and January 2024. Data were collected from the patients medical records. The demographic characteristics, causes of intoxications, clinical parameters, the mean stay in the ICU, treatment modalities and prognosis were recorded. Results: A total of 2875 critically ill patients were admitted during the study period, and 109 (3.79%) of them were acute intoxications. Their mean of ages was 38.09 ± 12.29. The female-to-male ratio was 1.37/1. Drugs were found to be the primary cause (62.39%) of intoxications, and analgesics, antidepressants, and antibiotics were the most frequent agents. Suicidal attempts were present in 66 patients, most of them were female (62.13%) and between 17 - 24 years (40.91%). The other common causes of intoxications were carbon monoxide (CO) (22.02%), methyl/ethyl alcohol (8.26%) and mushroom (5.50%). The mean stay in the ICU was 2.69 ± 0.89 days. Mechanical ventilation was applied to 10 of our patients. Renal replacement therapy was required in 6 patients. Despite all treatments, 6 of our patients died, and we found the mortality rate to be 5.50%. Conclusion: Intoxications were more frequent in young female patients and drugs were the most common cause with suicidal intent. Unfortunately, CO poisoning continues to be a very important problem in our city. These findings provided significant information about the characteristics of intoxications in karabuk.

UV-VIS spectroscopic investigations of interaction of bovine and human serum albumin with selected chalcones (1) and their cyclic chalcone analogues: (E)-2-(4’-X-benzylidene-1-tetralones (3), benzosuberones (4) with dimethylamino and methoxy substituents and (E)-2-(2’,4’-dimethox- ybenzylidene)-1-indanone (2) were performed in polar respiration medium. Absorption maxima of the tested compounds were investigated in the presence of bovine and human serum albumin at the 0, 10, 30 and 60 minute timepoints of the interaction. The absorbance of all studied compounds in the presence of proteins decreased after one hour of the reaction. Molecule 4a showed the strongest and fastest kinet initial interaction with both albumins.

AIM: To evaluate the role of microRNA (miR)-146a, -155 and -122 in the duodenal mucosa of pediatric patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) and the effect of transforming growth factor-β (TGf-β) on these miRs in duodenal epithelial and fibroblast ***: formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsies derived from the macroscopically inflamed (CD inflamed: n = 10) and intact (CD intact: n = 10) duodenal mucosa of pediatric CD patients and control children (C: n = 10) were examined. Expression of miR-146a, -155 and -122 was determined by real-time polymerase-chain reaction (PCR). The expression of the above miRs was investigated in recombinant human TGf-β (1 nmol/L, 24 h) or vehicle treated small intestinal epithelial cells (CCL-241) and primary duodenal fibroblast cells derived from healthy children as ***: Expression of miR-146a was significantly higher in the inflamed duodenal mucosa compared to the intact duodenal mucosa of children with CD (CD inflamed: 3.21 ± 0.50 vs CD intact: 0.62 ± 0.26, P ≤ 0.01) and to the control group (CD inflamed: 3.21 ± 0.50 vs C: 1.00 ± 0.33, P ≤ 0.05). The expression of miR-155 was significantly increased in the inflamed region of the duodenum compared to the control group (CD inflamed: 4.87 ± 1.02 vs Control: 1.00 ± 0.40, P ≤ 0.001). The expression of miR-122 was unchanged in the inflamed or intact mucosa of CD patients compared to controls. TGf-β treatment significantly decreased the expression of miR-155 in small intestinal epithelial cells (TGf-β: 0.7 ± 0.083 vs Control: 1 ± 0.09, P ≤ 0.05) and also the expression of miR-146a (TGf-β: 0.67 ± 0.04 vs Control: 1 ± 0.15, P ≤ 0.01) and miR-155 (TGf-β: 0.72 ± 0.09 vs Control: 1 ± 0.06, P ≤ 0.05) in primary duodenal fibroblasts compared to corresponding vehicle treated control
