The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATlAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATlAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

AIM To determine the sensitivity and specificity of liver stiffness measurement(lSM) and serum markers(SM) for liver fibrosis evaluation in chronic hepatitis *** Between 2012 and 2014,81 consecutive hepatitis C virus(HCV) patients had METAVIR score from liver biopsy compared with concurrent results from lSM [transient elastography(TE) [FibroS can~/ARFI technology(Virtual Touch~)] and SM [FIB-4/aspartate aminotransferase-toplatelet ratio index(APRI)].The diagnostic performance of these tests was assessed using receiver operating characteristic *** optimal cut-off levels of each test were chosen to define fibrosis stages F ≥ 2,F ≥ 3 and F = *** Kappa index set the concordance *** Fifty point six percent were female and the median age was 51 years(30-78).Fifty-six patients(70%) weretreatment-na?*** optimal cut-off values for predicting F ≥ 2 stage fibrosis assessed by TE were 6.6 kP a,for acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI) 1.22 m/s,for APRI 0.75 and for FIB-4 *** F ≥ 3 TE was 8.9 kP a,ARFI was 1.48 m/s,APRI was 0.75,and FIB-4 was *** F = 4,TE was 12.2 kP a,ARFI was 1.77 m/s,APRI was 1.46,and FIB-4 was *** APRI could not distinguish between F2 and F3,P = *** negative predictive value for F = 4 for TE and ARFI was 100%.Kappa index values for F ≥ 3 METAVIR score for TE,ARFI and FIB-4 were 0.687,0.606 and 0.654,*** demonstrates strong concordance between all three screening methods,and moderate to strong concordance between them and APRI(Kappa index = 0.507).CONClUSION Given the costs and accessibility of lSM methods,and the similarity with the outcomes of SM,we suggest that FIB-4 as well as TE and ARFI may be useful indicators of the degree of liver *** is of particular importance to developing countries.

With the expansion of eucalyptus crops to areas with severe water limitations,physiological studies involving eucalyptus clones to identify those that are tolerant to water stress become *** objective of this study was to assess morphological and physiological responses by eucalyptus clones subjected to drought stress and *** experiment consisted of three eucalyptus clones:VC865,I224 and I144 and two water regimes:control and water stress followed by rehydration,with six *** water potential,gas exchange,maximum quantum efficiency of photo systemⅡand plant height and stem diameter were evaluated under drought stress and ***6 d of rehydration,the number of leaves,leaf area and dry mass of root,leaf,stem and their total were *** clones showed intense reduction of gas exchange during the drought stress period,and only VC865 and 1144 showed rapid recovery with 3 d of *** 1224 showed greater reduction in height,stem diameter,number of leaves,water potential at midday(Ψ_(w)_(Midday)),and maximum quantum efficiency of photosystemⅡ(F_(v)/F_(m)).Clones VC865and T144 showed lower reductions inΨ_(wMidday)and F_(v)/F_(m) under ***865 had lower reductions in leaf number,leaf area and higher leaf dry mass,while clone I144 had higher height and lower reduction in root dry mass *** these clones showed higher water use efficiency with 3d of *** different phenotypic plasticities gave the clones VC865 and 1144 efficient mechanisms of acclimatization to stress and more drought tolerance,enhancing their greater capacity for recovery after stress,which allowed lower dry mass *** 1224,however,was more susceptible to drought stress,undergoing greater physiological damage with only partial recovery during rehydration.

We evaluated several organic fertilizers associated or not to mineral fertilizers, in the cane yield and theoretical sugarcane brandy in plant cane. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with nine treatments and four replications, constituted of： TI： liming （ 1 ）＋ reactive rock phosphate （2）＋ chemical fertilizer （3）; T2：2 ＋ 3; T3：1 ＋ 3 （control）; T4：1 ＋ 2 ＋ 3 ＋ cattle manure （4）; T5： 1 ＋ 2 ＋ 4; T6：1 ＋ 2 ＋ 3 ＋ chicken manure （5）; T7：1 ＋ 2 ＋ 5; T8：1 ＋ 2 ＋ 3 ＋ cane bagasse （6）; T9：1 ＋ 2 ＋ 6. It was applied the fertilizers in the following doses： cattle manure, 30 t hal; chicken manure, 3.5 t hal; cane bagasse, 24 t ha-1; reactive rock phosphate, 400 kg ha-1 and 120 kg ha-1 of K20 and P205, in the planting furrow. The limestone was distributed in the dose of 2.5 t ha-1 The variety was used SP 79-1011. The cattle manure substituted the chemical fertilization of plant cane. The cane bagasse, when used as organic source should always be complemented with the chemical fertilization; there were no effect of treatments in the principal technological characteristics of the cane.

This work constitutes the first contribution for the systematisation of geological heritage knowledge in Portugal, following the international recommendations for the characterisation of geological heritage （IUGS, ProGEO）. The application of the ProGEO methodology has resulted in the creation of fourteen frameworks with international relevance, established by consensus among the Portuguese geological community. The description of each category in this paper is not exhaustive and only the most relevant scientific settings are presented. The following are the three key outcomes of this work： i） At a national level, the most important geosites are identified, indicating where geoconservation efforts should be prioritised based on scientific justification; ii） At a regional level, conditions have been developed to foster dialogue with Spanish colleagues in order to create Iberian frameworks; iii） At an international level, it is now possible to integrate Portuguese geosites into the global inventories promoted by IUGS, UNESCO, and ProGEO.

Polyamide Fibers Covered with Chlorhexidine: Thermodynamic Aspects

Results of dynamic and equilibrium of sorption of a reactive dye Remazol Brilliant Blue, and a bactericidal agent, Digluconate of Chlorhexidine over Polyamide fibers are presented with the aim of supplying the fiber with bactericidal properties. However, adsorption of Chlorhexidine onto Polyamide is scarce due to the lack of interactions between the reactive groups of the fiber and the antiseptic molecule. Therefore, in order to provide the fiber surface with anionic groups, fiber has been previously dyed with Remazol Brilliant Blue which increases the negative charge of the fiber surface due to the presence of its sulfonate end groups. Thermodynamic parameters of equilibrium sorption in the two situations, fiber/dye and fiber-dye/Chlorhexidine, have been analyzed, as function of the temperature, pH and concentration of the dye in the pretreatment. Results show that when sorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue reaches the value of about 50 mmol/ kg at the higher temperature and concentration tested, the amount of Chlorhexidine adsorbed exhibits its maximum value which is 6 mmol/kg. Both processes, adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue and adsorption of Chlorhexidine, fit well to langmuir adsorption model, suggesting the existence of some kinds of specific interactions between adsorbent and adsorbate. Thermodynamic functions show that the interaction is endothermic and spontaneous in all the rage of temperature tested. The kinetic studies show that sorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue is better described by pseudo-first order model, while sorption of Chlorhexidine fits better to pseudo-second order model, and seems to be quicker process. According to the obtained results, chemical interaction between the vinyl-sulfone group of Remazol Brilliant Blue and the amine groups of Polyamide fiber, followed by electrostatic interactions between the guanine group of the Chlorhexidine and the sulfonate group of the dye must be considered in order to explain the adsorption process.

Candida parapsilosis is an increasingly important human pathogen. However, little is known about its potential to cause disease. The aims of the present study were to analyse the production of acid proteinases by clinical isolates of C. parapsilosis in the presence of different keratinous substrates from human sources (stratum corneum, nail and hair) and to verify the capability of yeast cells to adhere and grow as biofilm on these substrates. By scanning electron microscopy, it was observed that all C. parapsilosis sensu stricto isolates adhered to the keratinous substrates. For the isolate recovered from onychomycosis, the cell population attached to stratum corneum and hair keratin consisted mainly of blastoconidia. Differently, on nail keratin, pseudohyphae production was observed. Overall, there was a loose association between yeast cells and keratinous substrates. However, on stratum corneum, flocculent extracellular material was seen evolving cells from the onychomycosis isolate by forming a biofilm-like structure. The isolates recovered from onychomycosis and cutaneous lesion produced higher amount of acid proteinases in medium supplemented with nail keratin and stratum corneum keratin, respectively, than that in salt medium (absence of keratin). Furthermore, no differences were observed in the amount of acid proteinases produced by the isolate recovered from tracheal secretion in the media tested (absence and presence of keratin substrates). The information derived from this study will further our understanding of acid proteinase production by C. parapsilosis isolates and provide an insight into pathogenic mechanisms in C. parapsilosis particularly from isolates recovered from superficial mycoses.
