Rice(Oryza sativa)is an essential stable food for many rice consumption nations in the world and,thus,the importance to improve its yield production under global climate *** evaluate different rice varieties'yield performance,key yield-related traits such as panicle number per unit area(PNpM^(2))are key indicators,which have attracted much attention by many plant research ***,it is still challenging to conduct large-scale screening of rice panicles to quantify the PNpM^(2)trait due to complex field conditions,a large variation of rice cultivars,and their panicle morphological ***,we present Panicle-Cloud,an open and artificial intelligence(AI)-powered cloud computing platform that is capable of quantifying rice panicles from drone-collected *** facilitate the development of Al-powered detection models,we first established an open diverse rice panicle detection dataset that was annotated by a group of rice specialists;then,we integrated several state-of-the-art deep learning models(including a preferred model called Panicle-AI)into the Panicle-Cloud platform,so that nonexpert users could select a pretrained model to detect rice panicles from their own aerial *** trialed the Al models with images collected at different attitudes and growth stages,through which the right timing and preferred image resolutions for phenotyping rice panicles in the field were ***,we applied the platform in a 2-season rice breeding trial to valid its biological relevance and classified yield production using the platform-derived PNpM^(2)trait from hundreds of rice *** correlation analysis between computational analysis and manual scoring,we found that the platform could quantify the PNpM^(2)trait reliably,based on which yield production was classified with high ***,we trust that our work demonstrates a valuable advance in phenotyping the PNpM^(2)trait in rice,which provides a useful toolkit to enable rice br

Black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia L.),a species native to the eastern North America,was introduced to Europe probably in 1601 and currently extends over2.3×10~6 *** has become naturalized in all sub-Mediterranean and temperate regions rivaling Populus *** the second most planted broadleaved tree species worldwide after Eucalyptus *** wide-spreading planting is because black locust is an important multipurpose species,producing wood,fodder,and a source of honey as well as bio-oil and *** is also important for carbon sequestration,soil stabilization and re-vegetation of landfills,mining areas and wastelands,in biotherapy and *** Europe,black locust is drought tolerant so grows in areas with annual precipitation as low as 500-550 *** tolerates dry,nutrient poor soils but grows best on deep,nutrient-rich,well-drained *** is a fast-growing tree and the height,diameter and volume growth peak before the age of *** mostly regenerates vegetatively by root suckers under a simple coppice system,which is considered the most cost-effective management *** also regenerates,but less frequently,by stool *** early silviculture in production forests includes release cutting to promote root suckers rather than stool shoots,and cleaning-respacing to remove low-quality stems,reduce the number of shoots per stool,and adjust spacing between root *** addition,early,moderate and frequent thinning as well as limited pruning are carried out focusing on crop *** species is regarded as invasive in several European countries and its range here is expected to expand under predicted climate changes.

目的探讨肝脏线粒体融裂相关基因表达变化在二氢杨梅素抑制高脂喂养小鼠肝脏脂肪蓄积中的可能作用。方法 45只6周龄C57BL/6j雄性小鼠,按随机数表法分为普通饲料组(CON),高脂饲料组(HFD)和高脂加二氢杨梅素组(HFD+DHM),每组15只,干预12周。检测小鼠体质量、肝脏指数、血清生化指标;分别采用HE染色和油红O染色观察肝细胞脂肪变性和脂滴数量与形态。使用增强型ATP试剂盒检测肝脏ATP含量;采用荧光定量PCR和Western blot分别检测肝脏线粒体融合与分裂相关基因[动力相关蛋白1(dynamin-related protein 1,Drp1)、分裂蛋白1(fission 1,Fis1)、融合蛋白2(mitofusion 2,Mfn2)、视神经萎缩蛋白1(optic atrophy1,Opa1)]的mRNA及蛋白表达。结果与CON组相比,HFD组小鼠体质量、肝脏指数、空腹血糖、空腹胰岛素水平、甘油三酯、总胆固醇、低密度胆固醇明显增高(P<0.05),肝脏ATP含量显著降低(P<0.05),HE染色见明显的肝内脂肪空泡和肝细胞气球样变,油红O染色见大量的脂滴蓄积,肝脏组织Fis1、Drp1 mRNA和蛋白表达显著增高(P<0.05),而Mfn2、Opa1明显降低(P<0.05)。二氢杨梅素干预显著抑制高脂喂养诱导的肝脏指数、空腹血糖、空腹胰岛素和血甘油三酯的升高,肝脏脂肪蓄积以及肝脏ATP含量的降低,并且明显拮抗高脂诱导的线粒体分裂与融合基因mRNA和蛋白的表达水平变化。结论二氢杨梅素可明显改善高脂喂养小鼠肝脏的脂肪蓄积,该效应可能与其调节肝脏线粒体的融合与分裂有关。

Seismites resulting from high-frequency, high-magnitude earthquakes in Latvia caused by Late Glacial glacio-isostatic uplift

Geologically extremely rapid changes in attitude by glacial rebound of the Earth crust after retreat of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet at the end of the last Weichsetian glaciation influenced the patae- ogeography of northern Europe. The up（ift of the Earth crust apparently was not gradual, but shock-wise, as the uplift was accompanied by frequent, high-magnitude earthquakes. This can be deduced from strongly deformed layers which are interpreted as seismites. Such seismites have been described from several coun- tries around the Baltic Sea, including Sweden, Germany and Poland. Now similarly deformed layers that must also be interpreted as seismites, have been discovered also in Latvia, a Baltic country that was covered by an ice sheet during the last glaciation. The seismites were found at two sites： Near Vatmiera in the NE part and near Rakuti in the SE part of the country. The seismites were found in sections of about 7 m and 4.5 m high, respectively, that consist mainly of glaciofluvial and gtaciotacustrine sands and silts. At the Vatmiera site, 7 seismites were found, and at the Rakuti site these were even 12 seismites. The two sections have not been dated precisely up tilt now, but lithological correlations and geomorpho- logical characteristics suggest that the sediments at the Vatmiera site cannot be older than 14.5 ka. Because the accumulation of the section did not take more than about 1000 years, the average recurrence time of the high-magnitude （M≥4.5-5.0） earthquakes must have been maximally only 100-150 years, possibly only 6-7 years. The sediments at Rakuti must also have formed within approx. 1000 years （17-16 ka）, implying a recurrence time of high-magnitude earthquakes of maximaUy once per 100-200 years.

Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Transdermal Rivastigmine for the Treatment of Encephalopathy in Liver Cirrhosis (TREC Trial)

Objectives: Cognitive dysfunction in patients with hepatic encephalopathy (HE) may be caused by alterations in cholinergic neurotransmission. The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transdermal rivastigmine in improving cognitive function in patients with overt HE. Design: Randomized, controlled pilot study in which patients with grade 2 or 3 HE were treated with lactulose and randomized to receive either transdermal rivastigmine or placebo for 21 days. The modified encephalopathy scale (MES), object recognition test (ORT), trail test (TT), and serum ammonia were assessed at baseline weekly. Electroencephalography was performed at baseline and the final week of the study. Results: Patients were treated with lactulose (20 g/30 mL three times per day) and either transdermal rivastigmine (4.6 mg/d;n = 15) or placebo (n = 15). Transdermal rivastigmine significantly improved MES, ORT, and TT results compared with placebo (P ≤ 0.0001 at all 3 weeks for all 3 assessments). Serum ammonia improved in both treatment groups, although there was significantly greater improvement with placebo than rivastigmine after 2 weeks of treatment (P What is already known about this subject? ? Current approaches to the management of HE are primarily designed to reduce the levels of ammonia and other gut-derived toxins. ? Photometric observations of three high mass X-ray binaries and a search for variations induced by orbital motion

We searched for long period variation in V-band, It-band and RXTE X-ray light curves of the High Mass X-ray Binaries （HMXBs） LS 1698 / RX j1037.5-5647, HD 110432 / 1H 1249-637 and HD 161103 / RX j1744.7-2713 in an attempt to discover orbitally induced variation. Data were obtained primarily from the ASAS database and were supplemented by shorter term observations made with the 24- and 40-inch ANU telescopes and one of the robotic PROMPT telescopes. Fourier periodograms suggested the existence of long period variation in the V-band light curves of all three HMXBs, however folding the data at those periods did not reveal convincing periodic variation. At this point we cannot rule out the existence of long term V-band variation for these three sources and hints of longer term variation may be seen in the higher precision PROMPT data. Long term V-band observations, on the order of several years, taken at a frequency of at least once per week and with a precision of 0.01 mag, therefore still have a chance of revealing long term variation in these three HMXBs.

AIM:To report outcomes on patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation(RFA)for early oesophageal squamous neoplasia from a National ***:A Prospective cohort study from 8 tertiary referral centres in the United *** with squamous high grade dysplasia(HGD)and early squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)confined to the mucosa were *** lesions were removed by endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)before *** initial RFA treatment,patients were followed up *** flat dysplasia was treated with RFA until complete reversal dysplasia(CR-D)was achieved or progression to invasive Squamous cell cancer defined as infiltration into the submucosa layer or *** main outcome measures were CR-D at 12 mo from start of treatment,long term durability,progression to cancer and adverse ***:Twenty patients with squamous HGD/ESCC completed treatment *** patients(25%)had EMR before starting RFA ***-D was 50%at12 mo with a median of 1 RFA treatment,mean 1.5(range 1-3).Two further patients achieved CR-D with repeat RFA after this *** per cent with CR-D remain dysplasia free at latest biopsy,with median follow up 24 mo(IQR 17-54).Six of 20 patients(30%)progressed to invasive cancer at 1 *** patients(20%)required endoscopic dilatations for symptomatic structuring after *** of these patients have required serial dilatations thereafter for symptomatic dysphagia with a median of 4 dilatations per *** other 2 patients required only a single dilatation to achieve an adequate symptomatic *** patient developed cancer during follow up after end of treatment ***:The role of RFA in these patients re-mains *** our series 50%patients responded at12 *** figures are lower than limited published data.

目的探讨肝脏生物钟相关基因的昼夜节律变化在二氢杨梅素改善高脂喂养小鼠肝脏脂代谢中的作用。方法按随机数表法将150只6周龄C57BL/6j雄性小鼠分为普通饲料组(CON)、高脂饲料组(HFD)和高脂饲料+二氢杨梅素100 mg/(kg·d)干预组(HFD+DHM)。干预12周结束后,取小鼠肝脏组织进行油红O染色,检测小鼠肝脏甘油三酯含量;根据给予光照时刻(zeitgeber time,ZT; 8:00给予光照记为ZT0)分别在ZT18、ZT6两个时间点按照两步灌注法提取小鼠肝细胞,立即检测耗氧率(oxygen consumption rate,OCR);每隔4 h分别提取ZT0、ZT4、ZT8、ZT12、ZT16、ZT20共6个时间点的小鼠肝脏组织,采用荧光定量PCR和Western blot分别检测肝脏生物钟相关基因[钟基因(circadian locomotor output cycles kaput,CLOCK),脑和肌肉组织芳香烃受体核转运蛋白的类似蛋白1 (brain and muscle-arnt-like1,BMAL1),周期蛋白2(period2,per2)]的mRNA及蛋白表达。结果与CON组比较,HFD组肝脏油红O染色见组织间隙有大量脂肪滴蓄积,肝组织甘油三酯含量显著增高(P per2在ZT4、ZT8、ZT16、ZT20显著降低(P <0. 05)。二氢杨梅素干预显著抑制了高脂喂养诱导的肝脏脂肪蓄积、甘油三酯的升高以及肝细胞ZT18和ZT6的基础OCR和最大OCR的降低(ZT18显著高于ZT6),并且明显拮抗高脂诱导的肝脏生物钟基因mRNA和蛋白的表达。结论二氢杨梅素干预可部分恢复非酒精性脂肪肝小鼠肝脏生物钟相关基因表达节律紊乱,进而改善肝脏脂代谢。

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dose delivered to patients during scannographic examinations at the kaolack Regional Hospital (one of the 14 regions of Senegal located in the center-west of the country, 192 km from Dakar) and to compare these irradiation doses at diagnostic reference levels found in the literature in order to optimize our scanning protocols. To achieve this goal, we carried out a prospective study involving 218 CT scans. These examinations focused on cerebral, thoracic, abdominopelvic and lumbar spine acquisitions made in adults and cerebral only in children. We compared the median values of dosimetric indicators (CTDIvol and DLP) per acquisition with NRDs in the literature. During the course of this study, we found a dosimetric ratio lower than that of the NRDs for thoracic, abdomino-pelvic and lumbar spine CT scans in adults and a significant dosimetric exceedance for brain scans in adults and in children. These results encourage us to extend these dosimetric evaluations to other hospital structures in order to establish rigorous monitoring of dosimetric indicators and to respect the principles of radiation protection and good practice.
