CSES(China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite) is a mission developed by CNSA(Chinese National Space Administration) and ASI(Italian Space Agency), to investigate the near-Earth electromagnetic, plasma and particle environment, for studying the seismo-associated disturbances in the ionosphere-magnetosphere transition zone. The anthropogenic and electromagnetic noise,as well as the natural non-seismic electromagnetic emissions is mainly due to tropospheric activity. In particular, the mission aims to confirming the existence of possible temporal correlations between the occurrence of earthquakes for medium and strong magnitude and the observation in space of electromagnetic perturbations, plasma variations and precipitation of bursts with highenergy charged particles from the inner Van Allen belt. In this framework, the high energy particle detector(HEPD) of the CSES mission has been developed by the Italian LIMADOU Collaboration. HEPD is an advanced detector based on a tower of scintillators and a silicon tracker that provides good energy and angular resolution and a wide angular acceptance, for electrons of 3–100 Me V, protons of 30–200 Me V and light nuclei up to the oxygen. CSES satellite has been launched on February 2^(nd), 2018 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center(China).

Differential gene expression between squamous cell carcinoma of esophageus and its normal epithelium; altered pattern of mal,akrlc2, and rablla expression

AIM: To identify the altered gene expression patterns in squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus (ESCC) in relation to adjacent normal esophageal epithelium. METHODS: Total RNA was extracted using SV total RNA isolation kit from snap frozen tissues of ESCC samples and normal esophageal epithelium far from the tumor. Radio-labeled cDNA were synthesized from equal quantities of total RNAs of tumor and normal tissues using combinations of 24 arbitrary 13-mer primers and three different anchoring oligo-dT primers and separated on sequencing gels. cDNA with considerable different amounts of signals in tumor and normal tissue were reamplified and cloned. Using southern blot, the clones of each band were controlled for false positive results caused by probable heterogeneity of cDNA population with the same size. Clones that confirmed differential expression by slot blot selected for sequencing and northern analysis. Corresponding full-length gene sequences was predicted using human genome project data, related transcripts were translated and used for various protein/motif searches to speculate their probable functions. RESULTS: The 97 genes showed different levels of cDNA in tumor and normal tissues of esophagus. The expression of mal gene was remarkably down. regulated in all 10 surveyed tumor tissues. Akrlc2, a member of the aldoketo reductase 1C family, which is involved in metabolism of sex hormones and xenobiotics, was up-regulated in 8 out of 10 inspected ESCC samples. Rablla, RPL7, and RPL28 showed moderate levels of differential expression. Many other cDNAs remained to further studies. CONCLUSION: The mal gene which is switched-off in all ESCC samples can be considered as a tumor suppressor gene that more studies in its regulation may lead to valuable explanations in ESCC development. Early graft dysfunction following adult-to-adult livingrelated liver transplantation:Predictive factors and outcomes

AIM:To describe a condition that we define as early graft dysfunction(EGD)which can be identified preoperatively. METHODS:Small-for-size graft dysfunction following living-related liver transplantation(LRLT)is characterized by EGD when the graft-to-recipient body weight ratio(GRBWR)is below 0.8%.However, patients transplanted with GRBWR above 0.8%can develop dysfunction of the *** 73 recipients of LRLT(GRBWR>0.8%),we identified 10 patients who developed *** main measures of outcomes analyzed were overall mortality,number of re-transplants and length of stay in days(LOS).Furthermore we analyzed other clinical pre-transplant variables,intraoperative parameters and post transplant ***:A trend in favor of the non-EGD group(3-mo actuarial survival 98%vs 88%,P=0.09;3-mo graft mortality 4.7%vs 20%,P=0.07)was observed as well as shorter LOS(13 d vs 41.5 d;P=0.001)and smaller requirement of peri-operative Units of Plasma (4 vs 14;P=0.036).Univariate analysis of pre- transplant variables identified platelet count,serum bilirubin,INR and Meld-Na score as predictors of EGD. In the multivariate analysis transplant Meld-Na score (P=0.025,OR:1.175)and pretransplant platelet count(P=0.043,OR:0.956)were independently associated with EGD. CONCLUSION:EGD can be identified preoperatively and is associated with increased morbidity after LRLT. A prompt recognition of EGD can trigger a timely treatment.

Fungal endophytic species inhabiting the leaves of eucalypts are capable of utilising leaf sugars and can influence both plant growth and health. Endophytic fungal symbionts can use simple soluble sugars in leaves as their main carbon source. This study set out to determine the diversity and distribution of the endophytic filamentous fungal leaf community in the hybrid Eucalyptus urograndis due to its economic importance. The fungal leaf community was characterised using denaturing gradient electrophoresis (DGGE) and correlated with levels of leaf nutrients and sugars throughout plant development. Sequencing of DGGE bands revealed the presence of Basidiomycota and Ascomycota phyla. Fourteen species and three genera of filamentous fungi were identified, and the population structure was affected by the plant developmental stage. Levels of K, Cu, N and Mn influenced communities from the clonal garden, whereas leaves in the field had higher glucose, fructose and sucrose. Many fungi were found to be specific to a certain development stages: Diplomitoporus crustulinus, Podosphaera tridactyla and Aspergillus restrictus to the clonal garden stage;Chaetomella acutiseta and Ascotricha chartarum to the shading stage;Erratomyces patelii and Saxomyces sp. to the shading output stage;Lepidostroma sp. and Saxomyces sp. to the dispatch stage;and Mycosphaerella populicola to the field stage. Teratosphaeria toledana and Teratosphaeria acidotherma were found at more than one developmental stage. Cladosporium sp. and Rhodosporidium fluviale colonized and persisted in plants at the dispatch and field stages. This is the first report of P. tridactyla, A. restrictus, E. patelii, Saxomyces and Lepidostroma sp. as endophytes in eucalipt.

Predictors of emotional awareness during childhood

Emotional awareness, the ability to identify and describe one’s own emotions, and those of other people, has been widely studied in adult samples, while only few studies have been conducted during childhood. Aim of the present study was to investigate the predictability of the main variables usually associated with the study of emotional awareness. The LEAS-C was administered to a group of 781 children aged 8 to 13 years old. The results showed that both gender and verbal skills are important predictors of children’s emotional awareness. Moreover, cognitive ability and emotion recognition also predicted LEAS-C scores. Finally, age emerged as a significant predictor of the complexity of children’s emotional awareness. The assessment of children’s emotional awareness may be significant for different health-related purposes, e.g. prevention and psychological support.

Heat Transfer in Internal Channel of a Blade:Effects of Rotation in a Trailing Edge Cooling System

The aerothermal performance of a trailing edge （TE） internal cooling system of a high pressure gas turbine blade was evaluated under stationary and rotating conditions. The investigated geometry consists of a 30：1 scaled model reproducing a typical wedge shaped discharge duct with one row of enlarged pedestals. The airflow pattern inside the device simulates a highly loaded rotor blade cooling scheme with a 90 [deg] turning flow from the radial hub inlet to the tangential TE outlet. Two different tip configurations were tested, the first one with a completely closed section, the second one with a 5 holes outlet surfaces discharging at ambient pressure. In order to assess rotation effects, a rotating test rig, composed of a rotating ann holding both the PMMA TE model and the instru mentation, was purposely developed and manufactured. A thin Inconel heating foil and wide band Thermochromic Liquid Crystals are used to perform steady state heat transfer measurements on the blade pres sure side. A rotary joint ensures the pneumatic connection between the blower and the rotating apparatus; more over several slip rings are used for both instrumentation power supply and thermocouple connection. A parallel CFD analysis involving steadystate RANS modeling was conducted to allow an insight of the flow field inside the redirecting channel and the interpedestal ducts to better interpret the developing vortical structures. LowReynolds grid clustering permits to integrate up to the wall both the momentum and the thermal boundary layer. Calculations were performed by means of an inhouse developed pressure based solver exploiting the kco SST turbulence model implemented in the framework of the opensource finite volume discretization toolbox OpenFOAM~. Analyzed flow conditions correspond to Reynolds number of 20000 in the hub inlet section and angular speed varies to obtain rotation numbers in the range from 0 to 0.3. Background：Due to high neutral lipids accumulation in the cytoplasm,in vitro-produced embryos from Bos primigenius indicus and their crosses are more sensitive to chilling and cryopreservation than those from Bos primigenius *** objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of trans-10,cis-12 conjugated linoleic acid（CLA） on the development and cryotolerance of crossbred Bos primigenius taurus x Bos primigenius indicus embryos produced in vitro,and cultured in the presence of fetal calf *** zygotes（n = 1,692）were randomly assigned to one of the following treatment groups：1） Control,zygotes cultured in Charles Rosenkrans 2 amino acid（CR2aa） medium（n = 815） or 2） CLA,zygotes cultured in CR2 aa medium supplemented with 100 μmol/L of trans-10,cis-12 CLA（n =877）.Embryo development（cleavage and blastocyst rates evaluated at days 3 and 8 of culture,respectively）,lipid content at morula stage（day 5） and blastocyst cryotolerance（re-expansion and hatching rates,evaluated 24 and 72 h post-thawing,respectively） were compared between ***,selected mRNA transcripts were measured by Real-Time PCR in blastocyst ***：The CLA treatment had no effect on cleavage and blastocyst rates,or on mRNA levels for genes related to cellular stress and *** the other hand,abundance of mRNA for the 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate0-acyltransferase-encoding gene（AGPAT）,which is involved in triglycerides synthesis,and consequently neutral lipid content,were reduced by CLA treatment.A significant increase was observed in the re-expansion rate of embryos cultured with trans-10,cis-12 CLA when compared to control（56.3 vs.34.4%,respectively,P = 0.002）.However,this difference was not observed in the hatching rate（16.5 vs.14.0%,respectively,P=0.62）.Conclusions：The supplementation with trans-10,ds-12 CLA isomer in culture medium reduced the lipid content of in vitro produced bovine embryos by reducing the gene expression of 1-acylglycerol 3-phosphate 0

Spin-Spin Relaxation Time to Evaluate Degradation of HIPS/Organoclaynano Composites by Aging

NMR relaxometry is one of the techniques that allow observing changes in the molecular mobility that come from materials’ morphology. T1H has been used to monitor food and polymer sciences. However, T2>H, although being a revealing as T1>H, is rarely used to analyze changes in thermoplastic systems it is more sensitive to the mobile region. High Impact Polystyrene nanomaterials were prepared through solution casting and were exposed for different times to UV light in the air. The samples, removed after each exposure interval, were characterized by T2>H, focusing on the changes in the relaxation data. The results for this parameter showed that the changes in the relaxation data come from the competition of chain scission and chain recombination processes, which occurs due to the UV light influence with increased time. The T2>H data indicated that the clay ratio can influence the chain degradation processes, acting to inhibit or accelerate the aging process [1] [2].

Advances in Tropical Soil Characterization via Portable X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

Portable X-ray fluorescence(pXRF) spectrometers can be used to determine the elemental composition easily, rapidly, and without using chemical reagents, which is very important for tropical regions due to the lack of detailed soil characterization data. Moreover,pXRF data can be used to predict the results of more expensive, time-consuming, and conventional laboratory analyses. This study sought to determine the elemental composition of various soil profiles using pXRF. Two operational modes(Trace Mode and General Mode) and two scanning time(30 and 60 s) were assessed to determine their effects on the correlation of pXRF dataset with respect to conventional inductively coupled plasma(ICP)-optical emission spectrometry analysis. This relationship has been reported in previous studies, however, few studies were performed on tropical soils, which are unique. Furthermore, such relationships establish the viability of developing prediction models directly from pXRF data. Linear regression was applied to develop calibration models for the prediction of ICP analysis results and exchangeable and available elemental contents based on pXRF data. High coefficients of determination(R^2) were obtained for Ca(0.87), Cu(0.90), Fe(0.95), Mn(0.85), Cr(0.95), V(0.72), and Ni(0.90), with adequate validation. Statistically significant results were not found for Al, K, Zn, Ti, and Zr. The models predicting the exchangeable Ca based on the total Ca from p XRF reached an R^2 of up to 0.85. Operational modes influenced the pXRF results. Our results illustrate that pXRF holds great promise for tropical soil characterization and the development of prediction models, justifying the need for larger-scale studies in tropical countries worldwide.
