BACKGROUND Diabetes mellitus(DM)is one of the largest global health emergencies of the 21st *** recent years,its connection with environmental pollutants,such as bisphenol A(BPA),has been demonstrated;consequently,new structurally similar molecules are used to replace BPA in the plastics industry(BPS,BPF and BPAF).AIM To carry out a systematic review to allow coherent evaluation of the state of the ***,a meta-analysis was performed to unify the existing quantitative *** Firstly,a systematic review was carried out,using the terms“(bisphenol)AND(Diabetes OR Hyperglycemia)”,to maximize the number of ***,three authors analyzed the set of ***,a meta-analysis was performed for each BP,using RevMan *** addition,funnel plots were developed to study publication *** The systematic analysis of the literature revealed 13 recent articles(2017–2023)related to the study *** qualitative analysis showed interesting data linking diabetes to the three most widely used substitute BPs in the industry:BPS,BPF and ***,the meta-analysis determined a positive relationship with BPS,BPF and BPAF,which was only statistically significant with *** There is a need to apply the precautionary principle,regulating the use of new ***,replacing BPA with BPS,BPF or BPAF is unlikely to protect the population from potential health risks,such as DM.

Green building is receiving increased attention in the public sector in the United *** the past ten years,public sector organizations have gone from“testing the waters”with green building pilot projects to developing wide-reaching policies that incorporate green building practices and standards as a formal part of capital project decision processes.A variety of approaches have been employed at the federal,state,and local levels that encourage or require green building practices on public sector *** date,however,there has been no systematic evaluation of the pros and cons of these policy options to provide a basis for organizations considering how best to construct a program to meet the needs of its specific *** paper identifies,compares,and contrasts options that have been incorporated as part of green building programs for states and other public sector organization seeking to motivate green building practices in their capital projects and *** categories of options are considered:Policy,Program,and Evaluation *** paper evaluates alternatives within each of these categories according to their potential social,environmental,and economic impacts as well as their likelihood of implementation success within the context of public *** findings of this paper contribute a palette of options for policymakers to consider when drafting policies for their organizations,along with program options to be considered by those who must implement the *** work contributes a foundation for future research to further understand the relative effectiveness and impacts of policy elements on green building practice within public sector organizations.

BACKGROUND Due to new restrictions on the use of bisphenol A(BPA),industries are beginning to replace it with derived molecules such as bisphenol S and F(BPS and BPF).There is extensive evidence in the academic literature on the potential health effects of BPA,which is known to be a diabetogenic ***,there are few publications related to new compounds derived from *** To perform an epidemiological study of urinary BPS and BPF in the American National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)cohort,and analyze their possible relationship with diabetes *** NHANES datasets from 2013 to 2016 were used due to the urinary BPF and BPS *** from 3658 adults were analyzed to perform regression analysis exploring the possible relationship between BPA-derived compounds and *** Descriptive statistics,linear regression modeling,and logistic regression analysis revealed a significant relationship between urinary BPS,but not BPF,and diabetes ***,a relationship was observed between both compounds and hypertension and a slight relationship between BPF and *** In the present study,a strong relationship between urinary BPS,not BPF,and diabetes risk has been *** substitute molecules do not exempt the population from potential health risks.

In this paper,we address the long-term generation and transmission expansion planning for power systems of regions with very high solar *** target the power systems that currently rely mainly on thermal generators and that aim to adopt high shares of renewable *** propose a stochastic programming model with expansion alternatives including transmission lines,solar power plants(photovoltaic and concentrated solar),wind farms,energy storage,and flexible combined cycle gas *** model represents the longterm uncertainty to characterize the demand growth,and the short-term uncertainty to characterize daily solar,wind,and demand *** use the Saudi Arabian power system to illustrate the functioning of the proposed model for several cases with different renewable integration *** results show that a strong dependence on solar power for high shares of renewable sources requires high generation capacity and storage to meet the night demand.

On a global scale,from 2005 to 2019,there were 275 high-magnitude,low-frequency disasters that involved 14,172 fatalities and four million affected *** patterns have taken place during longer periods of time in recent *** paper aims to analyse the contribution of the international landslide research community to disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management in reference to the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)in a literature *** first section notes the relevance of disaster risk research contributions for the implementation of initiatives and strategies concerning disaster risk *** second section highlights background information and current applications of drones in the field of hazards and *** methodology,which included a systematic peer review of journals in the ISI Web of Science and SCOPUS,was presented in the third section,where the results include analyses of the considered *** study concludes that most current scholarly efforts remain rooted in hazards and post-disaster evaluation and *** landslide disaster risk research should be transdisciplinary in order to strengthen participation of the various relevant stakeholders in contributing to integrated disaster risk management at local,subnational,national,regional and global levels.

As system identification theory and model predictive control are belonged to two different research fields separately,so one gap exists between these two *** alleviate this gap between them,one new idea proposed in this paper is to introduce system identification theory into model predictive *** the most important element in model predictive control is the prediction of the output value for a nonlinear system,then the problem of deriving the prediction of the output value can be achieved by system identification *** specifically,a Bayesian approach is applied for the nonparametric estimation by modeling the prediction as realizations of zero mean random *** comparing this kind of prediction corresponding to this Bayesian approach and the former direct weight optimization identification for nonlinear system,the authors see that if the unknown weights are chosen appropriately,these two approaches are equivalent to each *** on the obtained prediction of the output value,the authors substitute this prediction of the output value into one cost function of model predictive control,and then a quadratic programming problem with inequality constraints is *** to solve this quadratic programming problem,a detailed process about how to derive its dual form is *** the dual problem has a simple constraint set,it is amenable to the use of the common Gauss-Seidel algorithm,whose convergence can be shown ***,one simulation example confirms the proposed theoretical results.

Corneal endothelium defects are one of the leading causes of blindness *** actual treatment is transplantation,which requires the use of human cadaveric donors,but it faces several problems,such as global shortage of ***,new alternatives are being developed and,among them,cell therapy has gained interest in the last years due to its promising results in tissue ***,the direct administration of cells may sometimes have limited success due to the immune response,hence requiring the combination with extracellular mimicking *** this review,we present different methods to obtain corneal endothelial cells from diverse cell sources such as pluripotent or multipotent stem ***,we discuss different substrates in order to allow a correct implantation as a cell sheet and to promote an enhanced cell *** this reason,natural or synthetic matrixes that mimic the native environment have been *** matrixes have been optimized in terms of their physicochemical properties,such as stiffness,topography,composition and *** further enhance the matrixes properties,these can be tuned by incorporating certain molecules that can be delivered in a sustained manner in order to enhance biological ***,we elucidate future directions for corneal endothelial regeneration,such as 3D printing,in order to obtain patient-specific substrates.

Control-based Fault Current Limiter for Minimizing Impact of Distributed Generation Units on Protection Systems

Distributed generation units(DGUs)bring some problems to the existing protection system,such as those associated with protection blinding and sympathetic *** is known that fault current limiters(FCLs)help minimize the negative impact of DGUs on the protection *** this paper,a control-based FCL is proposed,i.e.,the FCL is integrated into the DGU control *** this end,a predictive control strategy with fault current limitation is *** this way,a DGU is controlled,not only for power exchange with the power grid but also to limit its fault current *** proposal is posed as a constrained optimization problem allowing taking into account the current limit explicitly in the design process as a closed-loop solution.A linear approximation is proposed to cope with the inherent nonlinear *** proposal does not require incorporating extra equipment or mechanisms in the control loop,making the design process *** evaluate the proposed control-based FCL,both protection blinding and sympathetic tripping scenarios are *** control confines the DGU currents within the constraints quickly,avoiding large transient ***,the impact on the protection system is reduced without the necessity that the DGU goes out of service.

The climatic niche is a central concept for understanding species distribution,with current and past climate interpreted as strong drivers of present and historical-geographical *** aim is to understand whether Atlantic Forest snakes follow the general geographical pattern of increasing species climatic niche breadths with increasing *** also tested if there is a tradeoff between temperature and precipitation niche breadths of species in order to understand if species with larger breadths of one niche dimension have stronger dispersal constraints by the other due to narrower niche *** breadths were calculated by the subtraction of maximal and minimal values of temperature and precipitation across species *** implemented Phylogenetic Generalized Least Squares to measure the relationship between temperature and precipitation niche breadths and *** also tested phylogenetic signals by Lambda statistics to analyze the degree of phylogenetic niche conservatism to both niche *** niche breadths were not related to *** niche breadths decreased with increasing latitude and presented a high phylogenetic signal,that is,significant phylogenetic niche *** rejected the tradeoff hypotheses of temperature and precipitation niche *** results also indicate that precipitation should be an important ecological constraint affecting the geographical distribution of snake lineages across the South American Atlantic *** then provide a general view of how phylogenetic niche conservatism could impact the patterns of latitudinal variation of climatic niches across this biodiversity hotspot.
