Serum Uric Acid is Associated with the Predicted risk of Prevalent Cardiovascular Disease in a Community-dwelling Population without Diabetes

Objective To examine the association between serum uric acid levels and cardiovascular disease risk among individuals without *** We investigated the association between serum uric acid levels and the risk of prevalent cardiometabolic diseases, 10-year Framingham risk for coronary heart disease, and 10-year risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases （ASCVD） among 8,252 participants aged 〉 40 years without diabetes from Jiading district, Shanghai, *** Body mass index, waist circumference, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, blood pressure, and serum lipids increased progressively across the sex-specific quartiles of uric acid （all P trend 〈 0.05）. Compared with individuals in the lowest quartile, those in the higher quartiles had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia （all P trend 〈 0.05）. A fully adjusted logistic regression analysis revealed that individuals in the highest quartile had an increased risk of predicted cardiovascular disease compared with those in the lowest quartile of uric acid. The multivariate adjusted odds ratios （ORs） [95% confidence intervals （C/s）] for the highest quartiles for high Framingham risk were 3.00 （2.00-4.50） in men and 2.95 （1.08-8.43） in women. The multivariate adjusted ORs （95% C/s） for the highest quartile for high ASCVD risk were 1.93 [1.17-3.17） in men and 4.53 （2.57-7.98） in *** Serum uric acid level is associated with an increased risk of prevalent obesity, hypertension, dystipidemia, 10-year Framingham risk for coronary heart disease, and lO-year risk for ASCVD among Chinese adults without diabetes.

BACKGROUND The benefits of healthy lifestyles are well recognized. However, the extent to which improving unhealthy lifestyles reduces cardiovascular disease(CVD) risk needs to be discussed. We evaluated the impact of lifestyle improvement on CVD incidence using data from the China-PAR project(Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease risk in China).METHODS A total of 12,588 participants free of CVD were followed up for three visits after the baseline examination. Changes in four lifestyle factors(LFs)(smoking, diet, physical activity, and alcohol consumption) were assessed through questionnaires from the baseline to the first follow-up visit. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios(HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals(CIs). The risk advancement periods(RAPs: the age difference between exposed and unexposed participants reaching the same incident CVD risk) and population-attributable risk percentage(PAR%) were also *** A total of 909 incident CVD cases occurred over a median follow-up of 11.14 years. Compared with maintaining 0-1healthy LFs, maintaining 3–4 healthy LFs was associated with a 40% risk reduction of incident CVD(HR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.45–0.79)and delayed CVD risk by 6.31 years(RAP:-6.31 [-9.92,-2.70] years). The PAR% of maintaining 3–4 unhealthy LFs was 22.0%compared to maintaining 0-1 unhealthy LFs. Besides, compared with maintaining two healthy LFs, improving healthy LFs from 2to 3–4 was associated with a 23% lower risk of CVD(HR = 0.77, 95% CI: 0.60–0.98).CONCLUSIONS Long-term sustenance of healthy lifestyles or improving unhealthy lifestyles can reduce and delay CVD risk.

Ultrashort and powerful laser interactions with a target generate intense wideband electromagnetic pulses(EMPs).In this study,we report EMPs generated by the interactions between petawatt(30 fs,1.4×10^(20) W/cm^(2))femtosecond(fs)lasers with metal flat,plastic flat,and plastic nanowire-array(NWA)*** analyses are conducted on the EMPs in terms of their spatial distribution,time and frequency domains,radiation energy,and *** results indicate that EMPs from metal targets exhibit larger amplitudes at varying angles than those generated by other types of targets and are enhanced significantly for NWA *** a plastic target holder and increasing the laser focal spot can significantly decrease the radiation energy of the ***,the composite shielding materials indicate an effective shielding effect against *** simulation results show that the NWA targets exert a collimating effect on thermal electrons,which directly affects the distribution of *** study provides guidance for regulating EMPs by controlling the laser focal spot,target parameters,and target rod material and is beneficial for electromagnetic-shielding design.

Self-similar fractals are of importance in both science and engineering. Metal-organic Sierpin′ ski triangles are particularly attractive for applications in gas separation, catalysis and sensing. Such fractals are constructed in this study by using 1208 V-shaped 4,400-dicyano-1,10：30,100-terphenyl molecules and Fe atoms on Au（1 1 1）, and studied in detail by low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. Density functional theory calculations are employed to rationalize the invisible Fe atoms in STM images. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to understand the formation mechanism of the surface-supported fractal crystals.

Feasibility and safety of robotic PCI in China: first in man experience in Asia

Objectives To evaluate the feasibility and safety of a second generation robotic percutaneous coronary intervention(R-PCI)system in *** Robotic PCI has been shown to be an effective method for conducting coronary *** has further benefits of more accurate lesion measurement,improved stent deployment,reduced incidence of geographic miss and reduction of operator radiation *** This single center evaluation enrolled 10 consecutive patients who had been selected for *** success was defined as residual stenosisring efficiency metrics of early *** *** Eleven lesions were treated all successfully without manual interruption or MACE *** lesions(63%)were ACC/AHA class B2 and *** procedure time was 57.7±26.4 min,however two procedures were part of live *** the two live cases,the mean procedure time was 51.8±23.7 *** efficiency tended to improve from early cases to later cases based on PCI time(48.3±32.9 vs.25.5±13.0 min,P=0.27),fluoroscopy time(20.3±8.2 vs.12.5±4.6 min,P=0.16),contrast volume(145.0±28.9 vs.102.5±17.1 mL,P=0.05)and Air Kerma dose(1932±978 vs.1007±70 mGy,P=0.31).Conclusions Second generation robotic PCI was safe,effective and there were trends toward improvements in procedural efficiency during this early experience in China.

An accurate and effective neurological evaluation is indispensable in the treatment and rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury. However,most of the existing evaluation methods in basic research and clinical practice are not objective or intuitive for assessing the neurological function of big animals, and are also difficult to use to qualify the extent of damage and recovery. In the present study, we established a big animal model of traumatic brain injury by impacting the cortical motor region of beagles. At 2 weeks after successful modeling, we detected neurological deficiencies in the animal model using a series of techniques, including three-dimensional motion capture, electromyogram and ground reaction force. These novel technologies may play an increasingly important role in the field of traumatic brain injury diagnosis and rehabilitation in the future. The experimental protocol was approved by the Animal Care and Use Committee of Logistics University of People's Armed Police Force(approval No. 2017-0006.2).

Infection within 2 weeks before liver transplantation closely related to prognosis of posttransplant infection:A single-center retrospective observational study in China

Background:Infections still represent the main factors influencing morbidity and mortality following liver *** study aimed to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for infection and survival after liver ***:We retrospectively examined medical records in 210 liver recipients who underwent liver transplantation between April 2015 and October 2017 in our *** manifestations and results of pathogen detection test were used to define *** analyzed the prevalence,risk factors and prognosis of patients with ***:The median follow-up was 214 days;the incidence of infection after liver transplantation was 46.7%(n=98)which included pneumonia(43.4%),biliary tract infection(21.9%),peritonitis(21.4%)and bloodstream infection(7.6%).Among the pathogens in pneumonia,the most frequently isolated was Acinetobacter baumanii(23.5%)and Klebsiella pneumoniae(21.2%).Model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score(OR=1.083,95%CI:1.045–1.123;Prisk factors for posttransplant ***-cause mortality was 11.0%(n=23).The prognostic factors for postoperative infection in liver recipients were prior-transplant infection,especially pneumonia within 2 weeks before ***-Meier curves of survival showed that recipients within 2 weeks prior infection had a significantly lower cumulative survival rate compared with those without infection(65.2%vs.90.0%;hazard ratio:4.480;P<0.001).Conclusions:Infection,especially pneumonia within 2 weeks before transplantation,complication with impaired renal function and MELD score after 7 days of transplantation was an independent prognostic factor for postoperative infection in liver transplant recipients.

As one of the payloads for the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory(ASO-S)mission,the Lyman-alpha(Lyα)Solar Telescope(LST)is aimed at imaging the Sun and the inner corona up to 2.5 R⊙(mean solar radius)in both the Lyα(121.6 nm)and visible wavebands with high temporo-spatial resolution,mainly targeting solar flares,coronal mass ejections(CMEs)and filaments/*** observations allow us to trace solar eruptive phenomena from the disk center to the inner corona,to study the relationships between eruptive prominences/filaments,solar flares and CMEs,to explore the dynamical processes and evolution of solar eruptions,to diagnose solar winds,and to derive physical parameters of the solar *** is actually an instrument suite,which consists of a Solar Disk Imager(SDI),a Solar Corona Imager(SCI),a White-light Solar Telescope(WST)and two Guide Telescopes(GTs).This is the first paper in a series of LST-related *** this paper,we introduce the scientific objectives,present an overview of the LST payload and describe the planned *** detailed design and data along with potential diagnostics are described in the second(Paper II)and third(Paper III)papers,respectively,appearing in this issue.

Clinical effects of comprehensive therapy of early psychological intervention and rehabilitation training on neurological rehabilitation of patients with acute stroke

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of comprehensive therapy of psychological intervention and rehabilitation training on the mental health of the patients with acute stroke. Methods:A total of 120 patients with acute stroke were randomly divided into trial group and control *** groups were given the corresponding drug therapy,medical basic nursing and convention ***,psychological intervention and comprehensive rehabilitation training were added to the trial ***-90,Europ stroke scales(ESS) score were assessed with each patient on day 3 for the first time and on day 21 for the second time; Barthel index was assessed on the day ***:After psychological intervention,SCL-90 declined significantly in the trial group comparing with the control group,there were signicant differences in the somatization,obsession,depression,anxiety,fear,ESS score,Barthel index and other psychological factors between the trial group and control group(P<0.05).Conclusions: Comprehensive therapy of early psychological intervention and rehabilitation training can significantly improve the mental health,limb movement function,stress ability and activity of daily living on the patients with acute stroke.
