Body awareness therapy: A new strategy for relief of symptoms in irritable bowel syndrome patients

AIM: To compare irritable bowel syndrome (IBs) pa- tients with apparently healthy persons and to evaluate body awareness therapy, which is a physiotherapeutic remedy focusing on normalising tensions in the body, for the treatment of IBs with the hypothesis that altered body tension is associated with the syndrome. METHODs: Twenty-one IBs patients received body awareness therapy two hours weekly for 24 wk. At base- line as well as after 12 and 24 wk, they underwent ex- aminations including resource oriented body examination in combination with body awareness scale evaluation and f illed in gastrointestinal and psychological symptom questionnaires. saliva cortisol was analysed. A group of 21 apparently healthy persons underwent the same ex- aminations once. REsULTs: Compared to the apparently healthy group, IBs patients scored higher at baseline for gastrointestinal and psychological symptoms. They showed more often alterations in normal body tension patterns, as well as deviating cortisol slopes in saliva. After 24 wk of body awareness therapy, their gastrointestinal and psychologi- cal symptoms were reduced overall. somatic symptoms decreased in parallel with depressive symptoms. Whole body pain score decreased, coping ability as well as bio- chemical stress markers improved. CONCLUsION: IBs patients scored higher for gastroin- testinal and psychological symptoms, and presented with altered biochemical stress markers. Their body tension deviated compared to healthy controls. Furthermore,body awareness therapy gave relief of both somatic com- plaints, psychological symptoms and normalised body tension. These findings indicate that distorted tension constitutes an important part of the symptoms in IBs.

The purpose of this paper is to propose and study a class of quasi-interpolating operators in multivariate spline space s-1/2(Delta(mn)(2*)) on non-uniform type-2 triangulation. Based on the operators, we construct cubature formula for two-dimensional hypersingular integrals. some computing work have been done and the results are quite satisfactory.

An accurate and simple model of stacking fault energy for alloys (solid solutions) has been developed based on the embedded-atom method. The calculated value of stacking fault energy, 35 mJ/m(2) for 304 austenitic stainless steel, is in a good agreement with the experimental one, 30 mJ/m(2). In the present model we find that the Hirth's empirical relationship is also suitable for alloy.

Are we progressing in prostate cancer management?

With more than 1.2 million cases worldwide reported in 2018,prostate cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed malignancies in males[1].Ductal adenocarcinoma(DAC),a rarer subtype,has been reported in its purest form in 0.2%-1.3%of localised prostate cancers,with 0.8%-12.7%co-existing with acinar adenocarcinoma,the most common histological type of prostate cancer[2].Thus,under-recognised forms of prostate cancer can still affect thousands of patients and should not be *** variants of this common cancer,including DAC and intraductal carcinoma of the prostate(IDC-P),are associated with poor overall survival and progression-free survival *** often present with a greater Gleason grade,tumour stage,degree of extraprostatic extension,and lymph node involvement[3,4].The paucity of data on response to different treatment modalities in DAC is explained by the variant’s aggressive nature and low incidence,where recruiting sufficient sample sizes is difficult in order to form accurate conclusions.

Although the whole world has been suffering under the Coronavirus Disease 2019 epidemic,the World Journal of Clinical Oncology(WJCO)was able to productively direct our efforts in the field through *** was only accomplished through the collective efforts and support of our Editorial Board members,peer reviewers,authors,readers and editorial office *** 2020,the WJCO published 12 issues encompassing 84 papers,a 115.4%increase over 2019(39 papers).In December of 2020,we strategized a plan to solicit even more high-quality contributions for WJCO in *** far,we have registered and accepted 188 manuscript titles,including 132 reviews and 56 original *** the New Year,we will work with our internal and external colleagues who care about and support the development of WJCO with the express aim of improving the academic rank of WJCO in the field of ***,our goal is to merit and gain inclusion in the science Citation Index Expanded,with the first impact factor being awarded as soon as possible.

small angle neutron scattering(sANs) technique has been used to investigate the Ni_(50)Mo_(50) system prepared by mechanical alloying(MA). significant changes of the scattering intensity have been observed among the samples with different milling *** fractal-like behavior of the sample system have been found and attempts have been made to determine the fractal dimensions. It is expected that the fractal dimension can be related to the different stages of MA to some extent.

Adult duodenal intussusception associated with congenital malrotation

Enteroenteric intussusception is a condition in which full-thickness bowel wall becomes telescoped into the lumen of distal bowel. In adults, there is usually an abnormality acting as a lead point, usually a Meckels＇ diverticulum, a hamartoma or a tumour. Duodeno- duodenal intussusception is exceptionally rare because the retroperitoneal situation fixes the duodenal wall. The aim of this report is to describe the first published case of this condition. A patient with duodeno-duodenal intussusception secondary to an ampullary lesion is reported. A 66 year-old lady presented with intermittent abdominal pain, weight loss and anaemia. Ultrasound scanning showed dilated bile and pancreatic ducts. CT scanning revealed intussusception involving the full-thickness duodenal wall. The lead point was an ampullary villous adenoma. Congenital partial （type r[） malrotation was found at operation and this abnormality permitted excessive mobility of the duodenal wall such that intussusception was possible. This condition can be diagnosed using enhanced CT. Intussusception can be complicated by bowel obstruction, ischaemia or bleeding, and therefore the underlying cause should be treated as soon as possible.

TiO_(2)/WO_(3)heterogeneous structures prepared by electrospinning and sintering steps:Characterization and analysis of the impedance variation to humidity

Relative humidity(rh) is a critical environmental variable for transportation and storage of products and for the quality guarantee of several other production processes and services. Heterogeneous structures prepared from the selective semiconductor oxides may improve the sensitivity to humidity due to the better electronic and surface properties, when compared to pristine oxides. This work shows an alternative fabrication route for producing titanium dioxide/tungsten trioxide(TiO2/WO3) heterogeneous structures(by electrospinning and sintering) for potential application on the rh detection. The microstructural properties of the materials were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(sEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDs), X-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. The electrical characterization of the structures was performed by electrical impedance spectroscopy in rh range of 10%–100%. Results indicated a p-to n-type conduction transition at around 30%–40% rh for all tested settings. The analysis of the impedance signature to humidity showed that the amount of fiber layers on the electrode and working temperature are important parameters to improve the humidity sensing of the TiO2/WO3 systems.
