Recovery processes of secondary resources usually encounter problems because of the diverse com- positions of wastes. To enhance the applicability of tradi- tional hydrometallurgical process toward secondary resources, the adjustment of components is necessary. In traditional hydrometallurgical separation, precipitation and complexation are extensively used. However, their com- bination as a specific metal separation method has not yet been studied in detail. This approach is very promising for solving problems caused by changeable components during recycling processes of secondary resources. This paper reviews the effects of precipitation and complexation in metal separation processes, and a metal separation method system of ＂complexation-precipitation＂ developed to adjust the components of secondary resources is introduced.

The knowledge of solubility of a salt in either the pure solvent or blend solvent is of great importance for studying or operating the crystallization,extraction,and distillation *** solubility of sodium acetate(NaAc)in four pure solvents(water,ethanol,acetic acid and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol)and four binary solvents(water–ethanol,water-acetic acid,acetic acid–ethanol,and acetic acid-ethyl acetate)were measured by using the laser dynamic method at temperatures from 288.15 K to 338.15 K at 0.1 *** results showed that the solubility of NaAc was influenced by either the solution temperature or solvent *** aqueous sodium acetate solution possessed the maximal solubility under the experimental *** solubility of NaAc in 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol was found to be decreased with the increase of the solution ***,the solubilities of NaAc in other seven solvents increased as the solution temperature was ***,five correlation models,including the van’t Hoff model,modified Apelblat model,Yaws model,λh model,and modified Apelblat-Jouyban-Acree model were used to correlate the solubility data of those sodium acetate solutions with acceptable deviation,***,van’t Hoff analysis method was selected to analyze the change law of thermodynamic properties of a salt during the dissolution process.

The high-value utilization of industrial solid waste using a facile and eco-friendly process is of great interest and significance in reducing environmental pollution and developing a green circular economy. Herein, we propose an amyloid-mediated molecular engineering strategy to transform particulate waste into valuable adsorbents for metal ions. Our method has the advantage of aqueous solution fabrication under mild conditions without the use of high-temperature hydrothermal methods and toxic chemical reagents. Amyloid-mediated molecular engineering manipulates the phase transition of bovine serum albumin(BSA)on particulate waste surfaces, resulting in a remarkable ～3.1 times improvement in the adsorption capacity of fly ash, a typical industrial solid waste for gold ions after modification with the phase-transitioned BSA(PTB). The resultant adsorption ability was 69–1,980 times higher than those of conventional and emerging adsorbent materials such as ion exchange resins, activated carbon(AC), covalent organic frameworks(COFs), and metal-organic frameworks(MOFs). We further demonstrated the application of our PTB-modified materials in the recovery of precious metals from low-grade gold ore and electronic waste leachates. Consequently, this strategy could increase the value of waste materials nearly 27 times. In addition, this method is generally extendable to other conventional industrial adsorbents such as resin, clay, and Al2O3, and enhances their adsorption capabilities at least twofold. Overall, this work provides a simple and green approach for improving the adsorption performance of solid particles, and is expected to develop into a universal strategy for transforming waste particles into high-value-added products.

Differentiable programming is an emerging programming paradigm that allows people to take derivative of an output of arbitrary code snippet with respect to its input. It is the workhorse behind several well known deep learning frameworks,and has attracted significant attention in scientific machine learning community. In this paper, we introduce and implement a density matrix based Hartree–Fock method that naturally fits into the demands of this paradigm, and demonstrate it by performing fully variational ground state calculation on several representative chemical molecules.

Subject to the diffraction limit, the resolution of conventional optical microscopy is constrained to about 200 and 500 nm in the lateral and axial planes, respectively. The advantage of optical microscopy in the life sciences over electronic microscopy, especially fluorescence microscopy, drives scientists to develop novel "hacks" to reach nanoscale resolutions by optical means. In this review, three aspects of the techniques are discussed: (1) lateral super-resolution; (2) axial super-resolution; (3) super-resolution in three dimensions. The principles of how the methods achieve the cross-barrier resolution are discussed, and recent advances in current techniques are described. With these methods, the use of fluorescence microscopy is growing quickly toward a new era: fluorescence nanoscopy that will reveal 2 orders of magnitude more information on cellular structure and dynamics.

Machine Learning Kinetic Energy Functional for a One-Dimensional Periodic System

Kinetic energy(KE) functional is crucial to speed up density functional theory calculation. However, deriving it accurately through traditional physics reasoning is challenging. We develop a generally applicable KE functional estimator for a one-dimensional (1D) extended system using a machine learning method. Our end-to-end solution combines the dimensionality reduction method with the Gaussian process regression, and simple scaling method to adapt to various 1D lattices. In addition to reaching chemical accuracy in KE calculation, our estimator also performs well on KE functional derivative prediction. Integrating this machine learning KE functional into the current orbital free density functional theory scheme is able to provide us with expected ground state electron density.

Solar GLAO and TAO:performance comparisons

Multi-conjugate adaptive optics （MCAO）, consisting of several deformable mirrors （DMs）, can significantly increase the adaptive optics （AO） correction field of view. Current MCAO can be realized by either star-oriented or layer-oriented approaches. For solar AO, ground-layer adaptive optics （GLAO） can be viewed as an extreme case of layer-oriented MCAO in which the DM is conjugated to the ground, while solar tomography adaptive optics （TAO） that we proposed recently can be viewed as star-oriented MCAO with only one DM. Solar GLAO and TAO use the same hardware as conventional solar AO, and therefore it will be important to see which method can deliver better performance. In this article, we compare the performance of solar GLAO and TAO by using end-to-end numerical simulation software. Numerical simulations of TAO and GLAO with different numbers of guide stars are conducted. Our results show that TAO and GLAO produce the same performance if the DM is conjugated to the ground, but TAO can only generate better performance when the DM is conjugated to the best height. This result has important application in existing one-DM solar AO systems.
