Shortages and fluctuations in precipitation are influential limiting factors for the sustainable cultivation of rain-fed winter wheat on the Loess Plateau of China. Plastic film mulching is one of the most effective water management practices to improve soil moisture, and may be useful in the Loess Plateau for increasing soil water storage. A field experiment was conducted from July 2010 to June 2012 on the Loess Plateau to investigate the effects of mulching time and rates on soil water storage, evapotranspiration （ET）, water use efficiency （WUE）, and grain yield. Six treatments were conducted：（1） early mulching （starting 30 days after harvest） with whole mulching （EW）; （2） early mulching with half mulching （EH）; （3） early mulching with no mulching （EN）; （4） late mulching （starting 60 days after harvest） with whole mulching （LW）; （5） late mulching with half mulching （LH）; and （6） late mulching with no mulching （LN）. EW increased precipitation storage efficiency during the fallow periods of each season by 18.4 and 17.8%, respectively. EW improved soil water storage from 60 days after harvest to the booting stage and also outperformed LN by 13.8 and 20.9% in each growing season. EW also improved spike number per ha by 13.8 and 20.9% and grain yield by 11.7 and 17.4% during both years compared to LN. However, EW decreased WUE compared with LN. The overall results of this study demonstrated that EW could be a productive and efficient practice to improve wheat yield on the Loess Plateau of China.

Sowing date and seeding rate are critical for productivity of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.).A three-year field experiment was conducted with three sowing dates(20 September(SD1),1 October(SD2),and 10 October(SD3)) and three seeding rates(SR67.5,SR90,and SR112.5) to determine suitable sowing date and seeding rate for high wheat yield.A large seasonal variation in accumulated temperature from sowing to winter dormancy was observed among three growing seasons.Suitable sowing dates for strong seedlings before winter varied with the seasons,that was SD2 in 2012–2013,SD3 in 2013–2014,and SD2 as well as SD1 in 2014–2015.Seasonal variation in precipitation during summer fallow also had substantial effects on soil water storage,and consequently influenced grain yield through soil water consumption from winter dormancy to maturity stages.Lower consumption of soil water from winter dormancy to booting stages could make more water available for productive growth from anthesis to maturity stages,leading to higher grain yield.SD2 combined with SR90 had the lowest soil water consumption from winter dormancy to booting stages in 2012–2013 and 2014–2015; while in 2013–2014,it was close to that with SR67.5 or SR112.5.For productive growth from anthesis to maturity stages,SD2 with SR90 had the highest soil water consumption in all three seasons.The highest water consumption in the productive growth period resulted in the best grain yield in both low and high rainfall years.Ear number largely contributed to the seasonal variation in grain yield,while grain number per ear and 1 000-grain weight also contributed to grain yield,especially when soil water storage was high.Our results indicate that sowing date and seeding rate affect grain yield through seedling development before winter and also affect soil water consumption in different growth periods.By selecting the suitable sowing date(1 October) in combination with the proper seeding rate of 90 kg ha–1,the best yield was achieved.Based on these results,we recommend that the cu

Non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is a malignant tumor that poses a serious threat to human health.Adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC)are two common types of NSCLC.They originate from glandular and squamous cells of the bronchial epithelium,respectively.Identifying gene changes during tumorigenesis is conducive to the selection of suitable treatment methods for patients.CD98 is a heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein,which is composed of a heavy chain and a light chain.1 cD98 heavy chain(CD98hc),also known as 4F2hc or SLC3A2,is an 85kDa type ll transmembraneglycoprotein,which consists of a cytoplasmic region(NH2 terminal),a single chain transmembrane region,and a huge extracellular region(COOH terminal).1 CD98hc can combine with the CD98 light chain,LAT1(SLC7A5),to form CD98 protein through disulfide bonds.1 SLC7A5 is a 12 times transmembrane helix bundle protein composed of 501-535 amino acid residues1.

Classifying network time series(NTS) is crucial for automating network administration and ensuring cyberspace security. It enables the detection of anomalies, the identification of network attacks,and the monitoring of performance issues, thereby providing valuable support for network protection and optimization. However, modern communication networks pose challenges for NTS classification methods.These include handling large-scale and complex NTS data, extracting features from intricate datasets, and addressing explainability requirements. These challenges are particularly pronounced for complex 5G networks. Notably, explainability has become crucial for the widespread deployment of network automation for 5G networks and beyond. To tackle these challenges, we propose a path-signature-based NTS classification model called recurrent signature(Recur Sig). This innovative model is designed to overcome the time-consuming feature selection problem by utilizing deep-learning(DL) techniques. Additionally, it provides a solution for addressing the black-box issue associated with DL models in network automation systems(NAS) by incorporating an explainable classification approach. Extensive experimentation on various public datasets demonstrates that Recur Sig outperforms existing models in accuracy and explainability. The results indicate its potential for application in cyberspace security and automated network management, offering an explainable solution for network protection and optimization.

A model reduction approach is presented for discrete-time linear time-variant input-delayed systems. According to this proposed approach, a dynamical variable is constructed by taking advantage of the current state and historical information of input. It is revealed that the behavior of this dynamical variable is governed by a discrete-time linear delay-free system. It is worth noting that the presented variable transformation does not require the system matrix to be invertible. Based on the reduced delay-free models,stabilizing control laws can be easily obtained for the original delayed system. For the case with a single input delay, the constructed variable is an exact prediction for the future state, and thus the stabilizing control law could be designed by replacing the future state with its prediction. Finally, three discrete-time periodic systems with delayed input are employed to illustrate how to utilize the presented model reduction approaches.

Temporal action localization (TAL) is a task of detecting the start and end timestamps of action instances and classifying them in an untrimmed video. As the number of action categories per video increases, existing weakly-supervised TAL (W-TAL) methods with only video-level labels cannot provide sufficient supervision. Single-frame supervision has attracted the interest of researchers. Existing paradigms model single-frame annotations from the perspective of video snippet sequences, neglect action discrimination of annotated frames, and do not pay sufficient attention to their correlations in the same category. Considering a category, the annotated frames exhibit distinctive appearance characteristics or clear action patterns.Thus, a novel method to enhance action discrimination via category-specific frame clustering for W-TAL is proposed. Specifically,the K-means clustering algorithm is employed to aggregate the annotated discriminative frames of the same category, which are regarded as exemplars to exhibit the characteristics of the action category. Then, the class activation scores are obtained by calculating the similarities between a frame and exemplars of various categories. Category-specific representation modeling can provide complimentary guidance to snippet sequence modeling in the mainline. As a result, a convex combination fusion mechanism is presented for annotated frames and snippet sequences to enhance the consistency properties of action discrimination,which can generate a robust class activation sequence for precise action classification and localization. Due to the supplementary guidance of action discriminative enhancement for video snippet sequences, our method outperforms existing single-frame annotation based methods. Experiments conducted on three datasets (THUMOS14, GTEA, and BEOID) show that our method achieves high localization performance compared with state-of-the-art methods.

When the photovoltaic(PV)system is generating PV power,the partial shading(PS)condition will cause multiple peaks in the power-voltage curve,and changes in light intensity and ambient temperature will cause the curve to shift.Traditional maximum power point tracking(MPPT)methods,such as the incremental conductance(INC)method,have the problem of being trapped in the local optimal solution.Biomimetic optimization algorithms,such as particle swarm optimization(PSO),have problems with oscillation and low tracking efficiency near the global maximum power point(GMPP).As a result,a hybrid algorithm CS-INC based on the cuckoo search(CS)algorithm and the perturb and observe(P&O)approach is proposed in this study.The light intensity remains constant,the light intensity changes in steps,and the partial shade scenario are simulated.Simulation results show that the MPPT improves accuracy,speed,and stability.

A Low Earth Orbit(LEO)constellation augmenting satellite navigation is important in the future development of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS).GNSS augmented by LEO constellations can improve not only the accuracy of Positioning,Navigation,and Timing(PNT),but also the consistency and reliability of secure PNT system.This paper mainly analyzes the diverse demands of different PNT users for LEO augmented GNSS,including the precision demand in real-time,the availability demand in special areas,the navigation signal enhancement demand in complex electromagnetic environments,and the integrity demand with high security.Correspondingly,the possible contributions of LEO constellations to PNT performance are analyzed from multiple aspects.A particular attention is paid to the special PNT user requirements that cannot be fulfilled with existing GNSS,such as the PNT service demand in the polar regions and the onboard GNSS orbit determination demand of some LEO satellites.The key technologies to be considered in the constellation design,function realization,and payload development of the LEO-augmented navigation system are summarized.

As one of the most effective methods to improve the accuracy and robustness of speech tasks,the audio-visual fusion approach has recently been introduced into the field of Keyword Spotting(KWS).However,existing audio-visual keyword spotting models are limited to detecting isolated words,while keyword spotting for unconstrained speech is still a challenging problem.To this end,an Audio-Visual Keyword Transformer(AVKT)network is proposed to spot keywords in unconstrained video clips.The authors present a transformer classifier with learnable CLS tokens to extract distinctive keyword features from the variable-length audio and visual inputs.The outputs of audio and visual branches are combined in a decision fusion module.As humans can easily notice whether a keyword appears in a sentence or not,our AVKT network can detect whether a video clip with a spoken sentence contains a pre-specified keyword.Moreover,the position of the keyword is localised in the attention map without additional position labels.Exper-imental results on the LRS2-KWS dataset and our newly collected PKU-KWS dataset show that the accuracy of AVKT exceeded 99%in clean scenes and 85%in extremely noisy conditions.The code is available at https://***/jialeren/AVKT.

A Study of 10 Rotating Radio Transients Using Parkes Radio Telescope

Rotating Radio Transients(RRATs)are a relatively new subclass of pulsars that emit detectable radio bursts sporadically.We analyzed 10 RRATs observed using the Parkes telescope,with eight of these observed via the ultra-wide-bandwidth low-frequency(UWL)receiver.We measured the burst rate and produced integrated profiles spanning multiple frequency bands for three RRATs.We also conducted a spectral analysis on both integrated pulses and individual pulses of three RRATs.All of their integrated pulses follow a simple power law,consistent with the known range of pulsar spectral indices.Their average spectral indices of single pulses are-0.9,-1.2,and-1.0 respectively,which are within the known range of pulsar spectral indices.Additionally,we find that the spreads of single-pulse spectral indices for these RRATs(ranging from-3.5 to+0.5)are narrower compared to what has been observed in other RRATs.Notably,the average spectral index and scatter of single pulses are both relatively small.For the remaining five RRATs observed at the UWL receiver,we also provide the upper limits on fluence and flux density.In addition,we obtain the timing solution of PSR J1709-43.Our analysis shows that PSRs J1919+1745,J1709-43,and J1649-4653 are potentially nulling pulsars or weak pulsars with sparse strong pulses.
