style="text-align:justify;"> The Gabal (G.) el-Niteishat area lies in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt which is known for various mineral resources and geological structures. Umm Gheig, Umm Naggat, Umm shaddad, Wadi (W.) Zeidun and sigdit represent some important regions that contain mineral deposits in the study area. Various filters such as first vertical derivative (FVD), horizontal gradient magnitude (HGM), tilt derivative (TDR) and near-surface were applied to the airborne magnetic data for the study area to deduce the structural lineaments and magnetic source edges which were controlled by the presence of mineral deposits. Processed Landsat ETM+ images are used for delineating the rock unit boundaries that are exposed in the study area such as serpentinite, metagabbro, metavolcanics and metasediments. Also, band ratios, principal component analysis (PCA) and false-color composite image (Crosta alteration image) were applied to get specific results about the alteration zones. The structural lineaments analysis illustrated that the common trends that affected the study area were NW-sE, NE-sW, E-W and N-s. Integration of remote sensing and airborne magnetic data exhibited the relation between mineralization and structural lineaments.

Novel 4-thiazolidione and 1,4-bis-thiazolidinone derivatives bearing antipyrine moiety have been obtained from condensation of 4-aminoantipyrine 1 with aromatic/heteroaldehydes followed by cycloaddition with mercaptoacetic acid in nonpolar solvents. structure of the products has been deduced upon their elemental analysis and spectral measurements. Most of the targets evaluated as enzymatic effect towards some bacteria (E. coli) in compare with Xanthine oxidase (from buttermilk) where the role of compounds is an inhibition of purine metabolism enzymes caused by E. coli.

Novel fluorine substituted α-amino phosphonic acids containing 1,2,4-triazin- 5-one (6a-f) have been obtained from fluoroacylation of 6-(2′-amino-5′-nitrophenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one (1) followed by ammonilysis to give the corresponding 3-amino-derivative 3. Condensation of compound 3 with nitro/halogenated aromatic aldehydes yielded the schiff bases 4. The simple addition of diethyl phosphonate to compound 4 produced the α-amino phosphonates 5. Acidic hydrolysis of compound 5 produced the fluorine substituted α-amino acids derivatives 6. structures of the new compounds have been established with the help of elemental analysis and spectral measurements. Also, the products evaluated as antioxidants, where the fluorinated α-amino phosphonic acids 6 are more active than the other synthesized systems.

A translucent wooden substrate with long-lasting phosphorescence,high photostability and durability,tough surface,ultraviolet protection,high optical transmittance,and superhydrophobicity was *** long-lasting phosphorescent wooden substrate is able to continue emitting light for extended time ***-modified wood(LMW)was immobilized with a solution of epoxy resin(ER)and rare-earth doped aluminate(reda)phosphor nanoparticles(NPs).For an improved dispersion of pigment,reda was synthesized in a nanoscale particle size,and characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)to indicate a particle size of 8-14 *** crystal structure of reda nanoparticles was also proved by X-ray diffraction(XRD).For an improved production of long-persistent phosphorescent colo rless woods,reda must be well-dispersed in MAA without *** and emissio n,as well as decay and lifetime spectra were *** morphologies of the wooden substrates with different ratios of reda were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(sEM),X-ray fluorescence(XRF)analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR),elemental mapping,and energy-dispersion Xray(EDXA).The phosphorescent woods show changes in color from colorless to green under ultraviolet(UV)irradiation,and to yellowish-green in the dark,as proved by the colorimetric parameters of the CIE Lab *** afterglow wood samples display an absorbance band at 365 nm and two phosphorescent bands at 431 and 520 *** UV shielding,photostability,and hydrophobicity were *** increasing reda ratio,both static contact and slide angles are found to improve in the ranges of147.6°-163.6°and 9°-14°,*** long-lasting photoluminescence is optimized at a reda ratio of 8%.The present strategy shows a large-scale production approach of multiple functional woods for many potential applications,such as smart glow in the dark windows and safety signs.

Hyper thermal therapy using lasers is emerging as a new promising route for the cancer treatment. The tumor can be directly heated by the radiation or indirectly using gold nano particles based on plasmon resonance phenolmenon. These two possibilities are explored here by solving the space and time dependent bio-heat equation under different conditions. The knowledge of temperature profiles in the tumor region helps to bypass the painful placement of sensors for monitoring tumor’s heating by the laser. Important properties which could be useful for developing an efficient tumor therapy are introduced for the first time. It is found that the effects of metabolism consist essentially in a redefinition of the blood temperature which increases proportional to the heat of metabolism. Blood perfusion in a given tissue leads to a new characteristic length of order one or two centimeters and a blood convection parameter typically of order 30 W·m-1·K-1. Effects of these parameters are scrutinized within the resolution of the bio-heat equation under a variety of conditions. In general, space modulations of the temperature throughout biological tissues are weak but front kinetics are quite fast. specific examples show the way to monitor the temperature rise taking into account the tumor’s nature and size.

This work aims at the suitability of electroslag process on production of high technological steels such as Maraging steel, modified high speed tool steel (niobium, high nitrogen, and free nitrogen) has been investigated. The experimental results show that high recovery of alloying elements during electroslag remelting of such steels especially high nitrogen tool steel. The previous results are attributed to the slag used in electroslag protect the molten metal from atmospheric oxygen. Also higher recovery of alloying elements during remelting high nitrogen high speed tool steel are due to partial dissolution of nitrides during remelting of such steel which increase nitrogen content above the molten slag which decrease the partial pressure of oxygen leads to protection of molten metal from further oxidation. Also, the results show that, produced ingots are free from internal pipes, porosity and other surface defects. Microstructure obtained for remelted steels is very fine and well distributed for all steel under investigation. In the case of electroslag remelted Maraging steels lower non-metallic inclusions with very fine inclusions and redistribution retained austenite with very fine structure leads to increasing all tensile properties of investigated steels. In the case of high speed tool steels, also the structure is very fine, well distributed, densely and short carbides with lower non-metallic inclusions contents. High cooling rate accompanying with electroslag process has a great effect on type, morphology and content of carbides precipitated in both nitrogen and niobium modified tool steels.

Infliximab Therapy in Iraqi Patients with Moderate to severe Psoriasis

Background: Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is a proinflammatory cytokine which plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Infliximab is an anti-TNF-α drug widely used for the treatment of psoriasis. Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of infliximab in Iraqi patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Patients and Methods: In this therapeutic, single-center study, a total of 23 patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis resistant to conventional treatments were enrolled to receive infusions of infliximab 5 mg/kg at weeks 0, 2, and 6, then every 8 weeks for at least 22 weeks. Psoriasis Area and severity Index(PAsI), Body surface Area (BsA) and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) were calculated at each visit to assess the response to treatment and all side effects were recorded. Results: PAsI score was reduced from a mean ± sD of 17.41 ± 8.53 before treatment to 2.44 ± 2.68 after 22 weeks. At week 22, 84% of patients achieved PAsI 75, 42% achieved PAsI 90 and 28% achieved complete clearance. BsA and DLQI score were reduced from a mean ± sD of 35.69 ± 22.44 and 20.04 ± 4.68 before treatment to 3.52 ± 4.94 and 3.87 ± 5.60 after 22 weeks, respectively. Pruritus, boils, infusion reactions were recorded and relapse during treatment was found in 3 patients. Conclusion: Infliximab monotherapy is highly effective in the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis, with rapid onset of action and relatively low side effects.

Does Obstructive sleep Apnea (OsA) Increase the Risk of Post-Operative Respiratory Complications after Bariatric surgery?

Background: OsA affects up to quarter of general population. It is associated with morbid obesity with a higher morbidity and mortality rates. sTOP Bang questionnaire is a validated method for OsA screening. OsA patients are at high risk of developing airway obstruction, cardiac events, congestive heart failure, stroke and desaturation post operatively. The aim of this study is to evaluate adverse respiratory events in patients undergoing bariatric surgery in relation to risk of OsA using stop Bang questionnaire. Methods: This prospective double cohort study was conducted in Tanta University Hospital from Marchto August 2017. During the preoperative assessment, sTOP-BANG questionnaire was performed. After extubation, patients were transferred to PACU unit. Respiratory complications were assessed thereafter. Based on sTOP-BANG score, patients were divided into two groups, high risk of OsA with sTOP-BANG > 3 (Group I) and low risk of OsA with sTOP-BANG Results: 104 patients were included in this study. Group I had more comorbidities in the form of CAD (15% versus 2%, P 0.001). Higher number of respiratory complications was noted in high-risk group (31 patients, 59%) compared to (24 patients, 46%) in group II yet, it was not significant. Conclusion: Obese patients with sTOP-BANG score > 3 undergoing bariatric surgery are associated with hypertension, dyslipidemia, CAD, and renal insufficiency. High-risk OsA obese patients are at higher risk of developing respiratory compilations like inability to breathe deeply and hypoxia in postoperatively.
