Incidence and management of white grub, Schizonycha ruficollis on seedlings of teak （Tectona grandis Linn, f,）

In investigation was conducted annually from 2002 to 2005 between the second week of May and the end of September on the incidence of scarab beetle, Schizonycha ruficollis （Fabricius） in a teak （Tectona grandis L.f.） nursery at ramdongari, Nagpur, India. The immature stages, that is white grubs of the scarab beetle damaged 14%-52% of teak seedlings in the nursery beds, whereas the adult of the species, that is scarab beetles, were recorded on three new host trees （ Ziziphus xylopyra, Acacia catechu and A. leucophloea） in addition to the reported hosts such as ziziphus （Z. jujuba and Z. mauritiana）. Beetles of the S. ruficollis started emerging from the nursery beds just after the pre-monsoon showers and continued for 10-18 days. While beetle of S. ruficollis defoliated tree hosts available in the surroundings, the immature stages of the beetle caused major damage by feeding on root systerfls of teak seedlings with symptoms of wilting and mortality in forest nursery beds. The result of chemical and biological treatments for the management of grubs of S. ruficollis in nursery beds indicated phorate 10% granular at the rate of 20 g/m^2 and chlorpyriphos 20% emulsifiable concentrate at the rate of 5.0 mL/m^2 to be effective. Grubs of S. ruficollis have not been recorded previously as a major pest of teak （T. grandis）. This is also the first report on occurrence of S. ruficollis adults on tree hosts such as Z. xylopyra, A. catechu and A. leucophloea. White grubs being pests of economic importance and the toughest insects to manage, information given in this paper on incidence, pest status and management of Schizonycha ruficollis is of importance to researchers and forest nursery managers.

Analysis of the urethral stricture score and patient-related factors as predictors of outcomes following oral mucosal graft urethroplasty

Objective:The complexity of urethral strictures can predict outcomes following *** previously described urethral stricture score(U score)considered only stricture-related factors to grade the complexity of urethral strictures and to predict recurrence post urethroplasty,but not considered patient-related factors for the *** aimed to study the correlation of both of these factors to the outcomes of oral mucosal graft ***:We retrospectively reviewed data of 101 patients who underwent oral mucosal graft urethroplasty in our institute with a minimum follow-up of 6 *** patient characteristics and stricture-related parameters were *** U score was calculated for all patients which consisted of the length,location,number,and etiology of *** and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to determine significant risk factors of ***:The mean follow-up of patients was 15 *** was seen in 28 patients and the mean time for detection of recurrence was 8 months of *** Charlson Comorbidity Index,history of previous intervention,length of strictures,location of strictures,number of strictures,history of smoking,and etiology were independent predictors of recurrence following *** on these parameters,we formulated the modified U score(MU score).The scores ranged from 0 to 6 and a score of>2 was found to be predictive of *** comparing receiver operating characteristic curves for both scores by the DeLong test,the MU score had larger area under the curve than the U ***:The MU scoring system is the first of its kind attempt taking into consideration both patient-and stricture-related factors to predict recurrence following oral mucosal graft urethroplasty.

The present study is a systematic effort to investigate the structure-sensitive magnetic parameters of Ce^(3+) substituted Ba-Sr hexaferrite nanocrystals chemically formulated as Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Ce_(x)Fe_(12-x)O_(19) where x=0.0-0.2 with Δx=*** hexaferrite powders were prepared using the sol-gel self-ignition route and structurally characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared *** creation of the M-type hexaferrite phase within the synthesized samples was revealed from the Rietveld refinement of the X-ray *** occurrence of a secondary phase of CeO_(2) was revealed within the hexaferrites for the substitution,x> *** refined X-ray diffraction data were utilized to compute the lattice parameters,X-ray density,and lattice parameter *** crystal structure plotted from the refined XRD data reveals the occupancy of the ions at different lattice *** XPS data of the hexaferrite were analyzed to confirm the oxidation states of the constituent *** nanocrystalline nature of the hexaferrites was revealed from the crystallite sizes calculated using Scherer's *** analysis of FTIR spectra confirms that only a fraction of Ce^(3+)accommodated in the lattice and the remaining Ce content reside in the form of the CeO_(2) *** morphology of the hexaferrites was analyzed from the FESEM profiles of the ferrite *** magnetic behavior study was performed by analyzing the Curie temperature,hysteresis loops,and hyperfine interactions by means of susceptibility,V.S.M,and Mossbauer spectroscopy,*** hexaferrites with increasing coercivity,decreasing saturation magnetization,and decreasing Curie temperature are reported in the *** substituted Ce^(3+)ions inhibit the grain growth and create lattice imperfections giving rise to hexaferrites with tuned magnetic parameters suitable for different applications.

Prediction of bearing capacity of pile foundation using deep learning approaches

The accurate prediction of bearing capacity is crucial in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of pile *** research compares the Deep Neural Networks(DNN),Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN),Recurrent Neural Networks(RNN),Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),and Bidirectional LSTM(BiLSTM)algorithms utilizing a data set of 257 dynamic pile load tests for the first ***,this research illustrates the multicollinearity effect on DNN,CNN,RNN,LSTM,and BiLSTM models’performance and accuracy for the first time.A comprehensive comparative analysis is conducted,employing various statistical performance parameters,rank analysis,and error matrix to evaluate the performance of these *** performance is further validated using external validation,and visual interpretation is provided using the regression error characteristics(REC)curve and Taylor *** from the comparative analysis reveal that the DNN(Coefficient of determination(R^(2))_(training(TR))=0.97,root mean squared error(RMSE)_(TR)=0.0413;R^(2)_(testing(TS))=0.9,RMSE_(TS)=0.08)followed by BiLSTM(R^(2)_(TR)=0.91,RMSE_(TR)=0.782;R^(2)_(TS)=0.89,RMSE_(TS)=0.0862)model demonstrates the highest performance *** is noted that the BiLSTM model is better than LSTM because the BiLSTM model,which increases the amount of information for the network,is a sequence processing model made up of two LSTMs,one of which takes the input in a forward manner,and the other in a backward *** prediction of pile-bearing capacity is strongly influenced by ram weight(having a considerable multicollinearity level),and the effect of the considerable multicollinearity level has been determined for the model based on the recurrent neural network *** this study,the recurrent neural network model has the least performance and accuracy in predicting the pile-bearing capacity.

Models of circadian genetic oscillators involving interlinked feedback processes in molecular level genetic networks in Drosophila melanogaster and Neurospora crassa are studied, and mechanisms whereby synchronization can arise in an assembly of cells are examined. The individual subcellular circadian oscillatory processes are stochastic in nature due to the small numbers of molecules that are involved, and are subject to large fluctuations. The authors investigate and present the simulations of the stochastic dynamics of ensembles of clock-regulating proteins in different nuclei that communicate via ancillary small molecules, environmental parameters, additive cellular noise, or through diffusive processes. The results show that the emergence of collective oscillations is a macroscopic observable which has its origins in the microscopic coupling between distinct cellular oscillators.

In the present study,Al_(86)Ni_(8)Y_(6) and Al_(86)Ni_(6)Y_(4.5)Co_(2)La_(1.5) bulk amorphous nanocomposites were synthesized by spark plasma sintering of milled melt spun ribbon *** as-cast ribbons were of near amorphous nature with minute amount of FCC Al embedded in the amorphous *** of the ribbons resulted in partial devitrifi cation due to mechanical *** milled ribbon particles were sintered in the temperature and pressure range of 300-500℃ and 500-700 MPa,*** was observed that nominal amount of amorphous phase was retained at 500℃ and 500 *** increase in sintering pressure and decrease in sintering temperature,the amount of crystalline phase evolution decreased,and maximum amount of amorphous phase was retained at 300℃ and 700 *** microstructure consisting of amorphous phase embedded with hard intermetallic phases led to increase in the nanohardness of Al_(86)Ni_(8)Y_(6) and Al_(86)Ni_(6)Y_(4.5)Co_(2)La_(1.5) as-cast ribbons from 3.26±0.59 GPa and 3.81±0.58 GPa to 6.06±0.70 GPa and 6.14±0.82 GPa,respectively,for the corresponding consolidated amorphous *** of the three and five component system bulk samples was 4.19±0.13GPa and 3.6±0.13 GPa,respectively.

Tourism industry has become an important part of Indian economy,and tourism development has been,however,concentrated to a few areas. Accumulation of tourism activities has reached the critical stage in most of the tourism centers,which pose serious threats to the natural environment. The Bhyundar Valley of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (NDBR) in Uttarakhand State of the Indian Himalaya is a burning example of such problems. Land use/cover changes,deforestation and accumulation of garbage are some of the negative impacts of unregulated tourism in the valley. Unsustainable activities of tourists and villagers in the valley make such problems very severe. To deal with the ongoing problems and ensure community involvement in tourism management and environmental conservation,the Biosphere Reserve Authority introduced ecotourism in the form of Eco Development Committees (EDCs) in the Bhyundar Valley. Study reveals that many problems associated with tourism have been minimized to some extent with the help of EDCs but few are still prevailing in valley. However,the existing attempts to conserve the valley from the negative effects of tourism are inadequate and modifications are needed in the current initiatives.

Depillaring of total thickness of a thick coal seam in single lift using cable bolts：A case study

Explaining fundamentals of application of cable bolting for a thick seam depillaring,this paper summarizes the results of field studies conducted during adoption of this approach in more than fifteen panels of Madhusudanpur 7 pit and incline *** 7.0 m thick Kajora top coal seam of this mine is developed on pillars along the floor horizon to an average height of 3.0 m,leaving a coal band of around 4.0 m along the *** of procured core samples showed that roof strata are easily caveable with a caveability index value of around 2000 *** caveable overlying strata and shallow depth of cover alleviated most of the expected strata mechanics problems of the thick seam ***,extraction of total thickness at shallow cover caused differential-subsidence and cracks on the *** manifestations were immediately tackled to avoid creation of a breathing path for spontaneous heating in the extracted area.
