Polym.rphism.of Hum.n Organic Cationic Transporter1 (C480G) in Egyptian Chronic m.eloid Leukem.a Patients on Im.tinib

Background: Hum.n organic cationic transporter1 (Hoct1) is a plasm. m.m.rane transporter responsible for the m.in influx of Im.tinib into chronic m.eloid leukem.a (Cm.) cells. Single nucleotide polym.rphism. (SNPs) in the gene coding for hOCT1 are im.ortant factors causing Im.tinib resistance. We investigated the frequency of hOCT1 SNP C480G am.ng Egyptian Cm. patients and its relation to early m.lecular response as an indicator of treatm.nt outcom.. m.terials and m.thods: Two groups of Cm. patients were included in this study. Group I consisted of 25 patients responding to Im.tinib treatm.nt (Im.tinib responsive) and group II consisted of 25 patients resistant to Im.tinib (Im.tinib resistant). Response criteria were assessed according to the NCCN (National Com.rehensive Cancer Network) guidelines 2017. Twenty healthy controls of m.tched age and sex were also included (group III). For all patients, we studied hOCT1 C480G at initial presentation using Taqm.n drug m.tabolism.genotyping as well as BCR-ABL percent at diagnosis and after 3 m.nths interval. Results: hOCT1 C480G was present in 32% of studied Cm. patients. CC (wild) was detected in 68% of group I and 64% of group II. CG (m.tant heterozygous) was present in 28% of group I and 36% of group II while GG (m.tant hom.zygous) was detected in only one case in group I. CG was also detected in 15% of control subjects There was no significant difference between hOCT1 C480G polym.rphism.and Early m.lecular Response (χ2 = 0.089, p = 0.765). Conclusions: hOCT1 C480G polym.rphism.has no association with Im.tinib resistance in Egyptian population. However, further studies on a larger num.er of patients are still needed to confirm.this finding.

BACKGROUND Contem.orary innovations in the area of local anesthesia have attem.ted to provide an absolutely pain free experience for *** the introduction of Com.uter-Controlled Local Anesthetic Delivery System. to dentistry,m.ny studies have com.ared its efficacy and safety to conventional ***,very few studies have com.ared single tooth anesthesia(STA)and traditional local *** To com.are pain rating,changes in blood pressure,and heart rate during the local anesthetic *** secondary objectives were to m.asure the patients’level of satisfaction and the differences in anesthetic efficiency between the STA system.and traditional local *** A random.zed controlled trial was conducted and a total of 80 patients with dental restorative needs were enrolled for the *** patients were evaluated for their general physical status and oral clinical findings before *** regarding perceived pain,changes in heart rate and blood pressure,and patients’satisfaction was collected using an electronic data form.and was analyzed using paired and unpaired *** No significant difference was noted in perceived pain(P=0.59)and systolic blood pressure(P=0.09)during anesthetic injection using both traditional and STA *** patients had a significantly higher heart rate during anesthesia,although a statistically significant difference was noted am.ng the traditional anesthesia and the STA groups even before *** the restorative procedure,less pain was perceived by STA patients on the Wong-Baker FACES pain scale,which was statistically significant(Pm.nt experience and preferred to have the sam. m.thod of injection in the future(P=0.04).CONCLUSION STA system.can provide less painful and m.re com.ortable restorative treatm.nt procedures in com.arison to the traditional infil

The Application of Flam. Atom.c Absorption Spectrom.try for Gold Determ.nation in Som. of Its Bearing Rocks

A developed m.thod was designed for gold determ.nation directly in organic m.dium.in som. sedim.ntary rocks (fine sandstone, carbonates), pyrite, serpentine and international standard gold sam.le (m.-1a) using flam. atom.c absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). Instrum.ntal param.ters;burner angle, fuel flow rate, band pass and burner height together with chem.cal param.ters;different m.dia, leaching and interference effect were optim.zed to im.rove gold determ.nation. Selective leaching using a new m.xture (5% KCN, 5% Na2S2O3 and hydrogen peroxide) offered m.xim.m.leaching percentage of gold (>99%) with m.nim.l concentration of accom.anying elem.nts. Extraction param.ters using m.thyl isobutyl ketone (m.BK) from.3 m.HCl were optim.zed for m.re than 99% gold extraction, followed by scrubbing using 0.1 m.HCl. Gold was determ.ned directly in organic phase. Beer’s law was obeyed from.0.01 μg/m. to 10 μg/m.. Standard deviation (from.0.017 to 1.05) and percentage error (from.1.5% to 2.5%) using the present developed AAS m.thod were calculated.

m.soscale surface circulation and variability of Southern Indian Ocean derived by com.ining satellite altim.try and drifter observations

High resoultion Eulerian m.an velocity field has been derived by com.ining the satellite tracked surface drifter data with satellite altim.try and ocean surface winds. The drifter data used in this study includes Argos and surface drifter data from.Global Drifter Program. m.ps of Sea Level Anom.ly （m.LA） weekly files with a resolution of （1/3）° in both Latitude and Longitude for the period 1993-2012 have been used. The Ekm.n current is com.uted using ocean surface m.an wind fields from.scatterom.ters onboard ERS 1/2, Quikscat and ASCAT. The derived m.an velocity field exhibits the broad flow of Antarctic Circum.olar Current with speeds up to 0.6 m.s. Anom.lous field is quite significant in the western part between 20~ and 40~E and in the eastern part between 80~E and 100~E with velocity anom.ly up to 0.3 m.s. The estim.ted m.an flow pattern well agrees with the dynam.c topography derived from.in-situ observations. Also, the derived velocity field is consistent with the in-situ ADCP current m.asurem.nts. Eddy kinetic energy illustrates an increasing trend during 1993-2008 and is in phase coherence with the Southern Annular m.de by three m.nth lag. Periodic m.dulations are found in the eddy kinetic energy due the low frequency Antarctic Circum.olar Wave propagation.
