Objective: To identify mutually regulated proteins in PC-3 and DU145 androgen-independent prostate cancer cell lines treated with 1,5-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,4-pentadiene-3-one(mS17), and to study the molecular pathways that contributed to the anticancer activity of ***: PC-3 and DU145 cells were treated with 3 × EC_(50)(15 μm) concentration of mS17 for 24 h and were subjected to protein expression profiling using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and protein identification by mass *** differentially expressed proteins with significant P-value of Phange over 1.5-folds were filtered through and ontologically *** regulated proteins were ranked by fold change and identified as common protein targets of ***: Profiling data revealed that, the mutually down-regulated proteins included ACTB and ACTG associated with structural molecule activity, ACTN1 with cell cycle, ACTN4 with cell migration, hNRPK with apoptosis, PLST with.morphogenesis and TERA with ***, the expressions of Ch60 and hS71 A respectively associated with response to unfolded protein demonstrated opposing regulation in PC-3 and DU145 *** analysis of the differentially expressed proteins in PC-3 cells demonstrated the modulation of top pathways associated with cell-cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization while in DU145 cells the pathways were associated with proteosomal degradation, regulation of electrolytes and water, regulation control of germ cells and organization of filament assembly/***: The findings of the present study provide an understanding on the anti-tumorigenic activity of mS17 at the proteome level and warrant further research for its potential application for the management and treatment of androgen-independent prostate cancer.

Eradication of mRSA osteomyelitis requires elimination of distinct *** overcome this,we developed bisphosphonateconjugated sitafloxacin(BCS,BV600072)and hydroxybisphosphonate-conjugate sitafloxacin(hBCS,BV63072),which achieve“target-and-release”drug delivery proximal to the bone infection and have prophylactic efficacy against mRSA static biofilm in vitro and in *** we evaluated their therapeutic efficacy in a murine 1-stage exchange femoral plate model with bioluminescent mRSA(USA300LAC::lux).Osteomyelitis was confirmed by CFU on the explants and longitudinal bioluminescent imaging(BLI)after debridement and implant exchange surgery on day 7,and mice were randomized into seven groups:1)Baseline(harvested at day7,no treatment);2)hPBP(bisphosphonate control for BCS)+vancomycin;3)hPhBP(hydroxybisphosphonate control for hBCS)+vancomycin;4)vancomycin;5)sitafloxacin;6)BCS+vancomycin;and 7)hBCS+*** confirmed infection persisted in all groups except for mice treated with BCS or hBCS+*** revealed catastrophic femur fractures in all groups except mice treated with BCS or hBCS+vancomycin,which also displayed decreases in peri-implant bone loss,osteoclast numbers,and *** confirm this,we assessed the efficacy of vancomycin,sitafloxacin,and hBCS monotherapy in a transtibial implant *** results showed complete lack of vancomycin efficacy while all mice treated with hBCS had evidence of infection control,and some had evidence of osseous integrated septic implants,suggestive of biofilm *** together these studies demonstrate that hBCS adjuvant with standard of care debridement and vancomycin therapy has the potential to eradicate mRSA osteomyelitis.

Preliminary evaluation of the radiotherapeutic efficacy of 131I-atorvastatin in rats with hepatocellular carcinoma

As one of the most critical types of cancer,hepatocellular carcinoma(hCC)affects many people *** study demonstrated the prospective use of atorvastatin,a drug that inhibits the mevalonate pathway,causing hypolipidemia,as a carrier to deliver the iodine-131(131I)isotope to liver tissues for hCC *** atorvastatin radioiodination method was optimized for utilizing the131I *** radioch.mical quality and the in vitro stability of the generated[131I]atorvastatin were *** addition,the biodistribution experiments of[131I]atorvastatin were evaluated in both normal and hCC-induced rat models.[131I]atorvastatin was produced at a maximum radioch.mical yield of 86.7±0.49%.The[131I]atorvastatin solution purified via high-performance liquid chromatography showed good in vitro stability for 12 h after *** analyses revealed remarkable liver targeting capacity of[131I]atorvastatin and good localization of131I in liver ***,the encouraging bioch.mical profile and histopathologicalfindings have been reported,and preliminary investigations on the possible use of[131I]atorvastatin as a radiotracer and its impact on hCC radiotherapy in rats show promise.

A Seismic hazard map Based on Geology and Shear-wave Velocity in Rawalpindi–Islamabad,Pakistan

The‘twin cities’district of Rawalpindi–Islamabad is among the most endangered seismic regions in Pakistan,with the seismic hazard assessed(0.32 g)to intensity IX mmI for a 475-year return period.A seismic hazard map for Rawalpindi–Islamabad is presented herein,based on 85 shear-wave velocity(VS)profiles obtained through geophysical h/V measurements and from the geological map of the *** between the average top thirty-meter shear-wave velocities(VS30)and surficial geological units have been *** peak ground acceleration(PGA)maps for 150,475 and 2475-year return periods were converted into a seismic intensity *** increments for different soils were used to compute PGA values for 150,475 and 2475-year return *** located on softer ground experienced a higher degree of damage from moderate *** to the presence of soft clay or liquefiable soil and lateral spreading,a few locations may be classified as hybrid sites class C and *** map is a critical step in facilitating code-based site classification and seismic design throughout Rawalpindi–*** the seismic hazard map based on seismic intensities is no longer used in engineering geology,it is still important in seismological analysis and for civil protection purposes.

Prescribing patterns of antibiotics at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj

We report here the results of a prospective analysis of the pattern of antibiotics use over a one month period(may 2009)at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj,western part of *** on antibiotic usage were obtained from the pharmacy *** was coded,computed and analyzed using SPSS version 11.5.A total of 1336 and 556 patients from Beasat and Tohid hospital respectively received *** patients represented 758(41.5 %)and females 1080(58.5 %)of the total number of patients evaluated by physicians at the two hospitals during the one month *** of antibiotics varied from hospital to hospital;Beasat hospital had the highest *** ward-wise distribution of antibiotic use showed that the prevalence of prescribing was highest in the post partum ward(66.58%).Similarly,among Tohid hospital wards,men surgical ward and women surgical ward prescribed antibiotics significantly more than all other *** route of administration of antibiotics was parentrally for 85.5% and 88.2% at Beasat anf Tohid hospitals *** distribution of use of individual antibiotics showed that cepfzoline was the most frequently prescribed antibiotics used at both the ***(childbirth)and pneumonia were the most frequent diagnosed pattern for which an antibiotic was prescribed at Beasat and Tohid hospital *** conclusion our study suggests that there is considerable scope for improving prescribing pattern among the practitioners and minimizing the use of *** improvement would be facilitated by providing feedback,prescriber education and hospital formulary.

伊通上地幔剪切带中辉石岩、二辉橄榄岩和易剥橄榄岩是3个主要地幔捕虏体,其中尖晶石的化学成分以富铝为特征。辉石岩中尖晶石在薄片下呈绿色,为铝含量高、铬含量低的铝尖晶石;与之相比,二辉橄榄岩和易剥橄榄岩中尖晶石在薄片下呈棕色,为铝含量相对较低、铬含量相对较高的富铝铬尖晶石。尖晶石的颜色与Al、mg、Cr、Fe含量有关。在不同捕虏体中尖晶石成分具有不同的变化范围,尖晶石化学成分之间存在一定的相关性,mg#与Cr#,mg#与Fe2+和Cr与Al呈现负相关性,而mg#与Al#呈现出正相关性,反映不同捕虏体中尖晶石具有同一来源和成因联系。在地幔岩石部分熔融和结晶过程中Cr和Al的分异明显。固溶体条件下基本服从八面体Cr Al替代关系,而不同地幔捕虏体中尖晶石的成分差异是岩浆部分熔融和结晶过程中元素分异、固溶体离子替代的结果。

Crystal Growth of[Ca3Al(Oh)6·12h2O]2·(SO4)3·2h2O (Ettringite) Studied Under microgravity Conditions

On parabolic flights,the growth of ettringite,[Ca3Al(Oh)6·12h2O]2·(SO4)3·2h2O,a major reaction product of cement with water which forms instantaneously,was crystallized under microgravity conditions and *** the experiments,Ca(Oh)2/Al2(SO4)3 solutions were combined and reacted for 10?s,followed by immediate filtration of the suspension and subsequent quenching with *** the ettringite crystals,the size,aspect ratios,quantity and morphology were determined and the results were compared with those from identical experiments performed under terrestric *** microgravity,generally smaller crystals (l-2.9 μm) precipitated in larger amount than under normal gravity (l-3.5 μm).The aspect ratios of the crystals grown under terrestric or microgravity condition were comparable at about *** is assumed that the reason for the smaller ettringite crystals is the absence of convection leading to more initial nuclei,but slower crystal growth which is diffusion ***,no preference relative to the ion transport to the different faces of the crystals *** results contribute to the understanding of the mineralization of inorganic salts under microgravity conditions for which hitherto only a handful of examples were reported.

SYNThESIS, ChARACTERIZATION AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF POLYKETONES

Polyketone resins have been prepared by the Friedel-Crafts polymerization of dithiophenylidenecyclopentanone （I）, dithiophenylidenecyclohexanone （II） and dithiophenylideneacetone （III） with adipoyl, sebacoyl and terephthaloyl dichlorides using boron trifluoride as catalyst and carbon disulphide as solvent. Polymers were characterized with IR, 1h- NmR, and the results showed the presence of carbonyl of ketonic groups in the main chain. The polyketones have inherent viscosities of 0.40-0.70 dL/g. All the polymers are semicrystalline and most of th.m are partially soluble in most common organic solvents but freely soluble in aprotic solvents. The temperatures of 50% weight loss are as high as 185℃ to 280℃ in air, indicating that these aromatic polyketones have excellent thermal stability. All the polyketones were tested for their antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi.
