Pb–Pb baddeleyite ages of mafic dyke swarms from the Dharwar Craton:Implications for Paleoproterozoic LIPs and diamond potential of mantle keel

The Dharwar Craton in Peninsular India was intruded by a series of mafic dykes during the Paleoproterozoic and these mafic magmatic events have important implications on continental rifting and *** we report ten precise Pb-Pb TE-TIMS age determinations on baddeleyite grains separated from seven mafic dykes and three sills,intruding into Archean basement rocks and Proterozoic sedimentary formations of the Eastern Dharwar Craton *** crystallization age of the baddeleyite shows 2366.3±1.1 Ma,and 2369.2±0.8 Ma for the NE-SW trending dykes,2368.1±0.6 Ma,2366.4±0.8 Ma,2207.2±0.7 Ma and 1887.3±1.0 Ma for the ENE-WNW to E-W striking dykes,1880.6±1.0 Ma,1864.3±0.6 Ma and 1863.6±0.9 Ma for Cuddapah sills,and 1861.8±1.4 Ma for the N-S trending *** results in conjunction with those from previous studies identify eight distinct stages of widespread Paleoproterozoic magmatism in the Dharwar *** mantle plume centres of the four radiating dyke swarms with ages of^2367 Ma,~2210 Ma,~2082 Ma,and^1886 Ma were traced to establish their proximity to the EDC kimberlite *** the^2367 Ma and^1886 Ma plume centres are inferred to be located to the west and east of the present day Dharwar craton respectively away from the kimberlite province,location of plume heads of the other two swarms with ages of^2207 Ma and^2082 Ma are in close *** spite of the ubiquitous occurrence of dyke intrusions of all the seven generations in the kimberlite province,only few of these kimberlites are *** occurrences elsewhere in the vicinity of older Large Igneous Provinces(LIPs)like the Mackenzie,Karoo,Parana-Etendeka and Yakutsk-Vilui are also *** has been attributed to the destruction of the lithospheric mantle keel(that hosts the diamonds)by the respective mantle *** diamondiferous nature of the EDC kimberlites therefore suggests that plume activity does not always result in the destruction of the mantle keel.

Unusual case of nephrocutaneous fistula--Our experience

A rare case of nephrococutaneous fistula due to spontaneous expulsion of renal calculi is described.A 45-year-old man presented with urinary leakage from an ulcer over the left lumbar region for the last 3 months after a history of spontaneous expulsion of stones from this *** abdomen revealed a small contracted kidney with multiple calculi in the kidney and renal pelvis,sinus tract from the lower pole of the left kidney with a ruptured calyceal calculus in the sinus *** urography revealed a non excreting left kidney with multiple renal calculi,with hyperdense collection in the renal parenchyma extending to the subcutaneous tissue and left lung suggesting a xenthogranulomatous pyelonephritis(XGP).We performed a left-sided simple nephrectomy with excision of the fistulous *** examination revealed *** have been a few case reports of XGP forming nephrocutaneous fistula in the back.

Implication of ultrasound bladder parameters on treatment response in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia under medical management

Objective:The prevalence of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)rapidly increases after the 4th decade of *** combination of tamsulosin and dutasteride is a well established therapy for BPH of40 ***-invasive urodynamic parameters can predict the outcome of medical therapy in patients with *** aimed to correlate these parameters with treatment responses in BPH patients under medical ***:A prospective study was conducted in the Department of Urology in our hospital from May 2014 to April 2015.A total of 100 patients with BPH40 g who fulfilled our inclusion criteria were *** responses were determined by the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS)and *** ultrasonography with Doppler was performed to measure prostate volume,intravesical prostatic protrusion(IPP),detrusor wall thickness(DWT),the prostatic capsular artery resistive index(rI)and prostatic urethral angle(PUA)before and 3 months after combination therapy of tamsulosin and *** responses were correlated with non-invasive urodynamic ***:The IPSS,uroflow,age,prostate volume,rI,IPP,DWT and PUA were correlated before and after *** the 100 patients,70(70%)showed significant improvement and 30(30%)showed no improvement with ***:Ultrasound bladder parameters are useful tools for measuring the treatment response in BPH *** study shows that rI and DWT significantly correlate with the treatment response in BPH *** importantly,pretreatment values of increased IPP and PUA determines the non-improvement of symptoms in BPH *** study suggests the importance of transabdominal ultrasonography(KUBeP)with Doppler for evaluating treatment responses to medical management.

Variability in Grain Quality Characters of Upland rice of Assam,India

The grain quality of 100 uplandlahu rice genotypes from Assam, India was assessed. The characteristics measured were grain length, grain width, cooked grain length, cooked grain width, grain elongation ratio after cooking, grain widening ratio after cooking, alkali spreading value, gel consistency, as well as starch, amylose, amylopectin and total soluble sugar contents. Considerable genetic variability among the 100 rice genotypes was observed for the characteristics under study. Analysis of vadance revealed highly significant differences among the genotypes for all the characteristics. The difference between genotypic coefficient of variation （GCV） and phenotypic coefficient of variation （PCV） was very small for all the characteristics analyzed. High GCV and PCV were found in the characteristic of total soluble sugar content followed by alkali spreading value. The high values for these traits signify the scope for selection to develop superior genotypes. High heritability was recorded in all the characteristics analyzed along with diverse genetic advance which varied from 9.71% to 52.83%. The characteristic of total soluble sugar content showed high heritability with high genetic advance, whereas alkali spreading value and grain widening ratio presented high hedtability with moderate genetic advance. This implies that these characteristics are mainly under additive gene effects and could be relied upon further selection based on phenotypic performance. The genotypic correlation coefficient was higher than the phenotypic correlation coefficient, indicating strong inherent associations among the characteristics studied.

Comparison of conventional and supported liquid extraction methods for the determination of sitagliptin and simvastatin in rat plasma by LC-ESI-MS/MS

Three extraction methods were compared for their efficiency to analyze sitagliptin and simvastatin in rat plasma by LC-MS/MS, including （1） liquid-liquid extraction （LLE）, （2） solid phase extraction （SPE） and （3） supported liquid extraction （SLE）. Comparison of recoveries of analytes with different extraction methods revealed that SLE was the best extraction method. The detection was facilitated with ion trap-mass spectrometer by multiple reactions monitoring （MrM） in a positive ion mode with ESI. The transitions monitored were m./z 441.1→325.2 for simvastatin, 408.2→235.1 for sitagliptin and 278.1→260.1 for the IS. The lower limit of quantification （LLOQ） was 0.2 ng/mL for sitagliptin and 0.1 ng/mL for simvastatin. The effective SLE offers enhanced chromatographic selectivity, thus facilitating the potential utility of the method for routine analysis of biological samples along with pharmacokinetic studies.

We study the nonlinear propagation of dust-ion acoustic(DIA) shock waves in an un-magnetized dusty plasma which consists of electrons, both positive and negative ions and negatively charged immobile dust grains. Starting from a set of hydrodynamic equations with the ion thermal pressures and ion kinematic viscosities included, and using a standard reductive perturbation method, the Kadomtsev–Petviashivili–Burgers(K-P-Burgers) equation is derived, which governs the evolution of DIA shocks. A stationary solution of the K-P-Burgers equation is obtained and its properties are analysed with different plasma number densities, ion temperatures and masses. It is shown that a transition from shocks with negative potential to positive one occurs depending on the negative ion concentration in the plasma and the obliqueness of propagation of DIA waves.

COVID-19 has created a pandemic situation in the whole *** of COVID-19 spreading rate in the social environment is a challenge for all *** the present study,simulation of the lockdown effect on the COVID-19 spreading rate in India and mapping of its recovery percentage(until May 2020)were *** of the lockdown impact dependent on first order reaction kinetics demonstrated higher effect of lockdown 1 on controlling the COVID-19 spreading rate when contrasted with lockdown 2 and *** decreasing trend was followed for the reaction rate constant of different lockdown stages,the distinction between the lockdown 2 and 3 was *** and feed forward neural network(FFNN)approaches were applied for the simulation of COVID-19 spreading *** case of mathematical approach,exponential model indicated adequate performance for the prediction of the spreading rate *** the FFNN based modeling,1-5-1 was selected as the best architecture so as to predict adequate spreading rate for all the *** architecture also showed effective performance in order to forecast number of cases for next 14 *** recovery percentage was modeled as a function of number of days with the assistance of polynomial ***,the investigation recommends proper social distancing and efficient management of corona virus in order to achieve higher decreasing trend of reaction rate constant and required recovery percentage for the stabilization of India.

Viral Genotypes and Associated risk Factors of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in India

Objective This study aims to investigate the etiological relationship among hepatitis B virus （HBV）, hepatitis C virus （HCV）, and alcohol as risk factors in a cohort of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients from India. The clinical and biochemical profiles and tumor characteristics in the HCC cases were also evaluated. Methods A total of 357 consecutive cases of HCC fulfilling the diagnostic criteria from the Barcelona-2000 EASL conference were included in the study. The blood samples were evaluated for serological evidence of HBV and HCV infection, viral load, and genotypes using serological tests, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and restriction fragment length polymorphism. results The male/female ratio for the HCC cases was 5.87：1. Majority of the HCC patients （33.9%） were 50 to 59 years of age, with a mean age of 4±13.23 years. More than half the cases （60.8%） had underlying cirrhosis at presentation. Among the HCC patients, 68.9% were HBV related, 21.3% were HCV related, 18.8%, were alcoholic, and 18.2% were of cryptogenic origin. The presence of any marker positive for HBV increased the risk for developing HCC by almost 27 times [Or： 27.33; （12.87-60.0）]. An increased risk of 10.6 times was observed for HCC development for cases positive for ally HCV marker [Or： 10.55; （3.13-42.73）]. Heavy alcohol consumption along with HCV rNA positivity in cirrhotic patients was found to be a risk for developing HCC by 3 folds ]Or： 3.17; （0.37-70.71）]. Conclusions Patients of chronic HBV infection followed by chronic HCV infection were at higher risk of developing HCC in India. Chronic alcohol consumption was found to be a risk factor in cirrhotic cases only when it was associated with HCV rNA positivity. Most of the patients had a large tumor size （〉5 cm） with multiple liver nodules, indicating an advanced stage of the disease thus making curative therapies difficult.

Expression of Insulin-like Growth Factor-I in Uterusis Ovarian Steroid Dependent:An in situ Immunohistochemical Study in rat

Objective To study the immunohistochemical localization of insulin-like growth factor- I （IGF-I） in rats＇ uteri to determine if expression of the growth factor is ovarian steroid dependent. The study was carried out in presence and absence of ovary in situ of non pregnant females and during early gestation （day 1 to day 5.5）. Cyclic females were tested to observe the effect of native steroids on IGF-I expression. Adult females were ovariectomized （OVX） and injected （s.c） with estradiol-1713 in a dose of O.1 I^g/ml per day for three consecutive days at interval of 24 h prior to the collection of uterine horns. During the early pregnancy, studies were carried out on day 3.5 and day 5. 5 of geatation respectively to determine the Steroids＇ effects during pre- and post-implantation period Tamoxifen was administered （s.c） in a dose of 250 Ug/ml per day from day 1 to day 3 of gestation while, the prostaglandin F2a （PGF2a） was administered （s.c） from day 3 of gestation onward for three consecutive days at interval of 24 h in a dose of 150 μg/ml per day. Expression of lGF-I was immunohistochemically localised using IGF-1 antibody in paraffin embedded sections. results IGF-I was expressed in rat uterus during estrus phase as well as during pre and post-implantation period The ovariectomized females＇ uteri lost the expression of IGF-1. Exogenous administration of tamoxifen and PGF2a reduce the expression of the growth factor. Conclusion Expression of lGF-1 in rat uterus during cyclic stage and early gestation depends upon the availability of circulating estrogen and progesterone. Uterine expression of lGF-I can be modulated by manipulating circulating ovarian steroid either during cyclic stage or during gestation.
