Twenty eight strains of endophytic fungi including sterile mycelia were isolated from the leaf,rhizome and roots of Hedychium spicatum Ham *** of the endophytic fungi isolated belonged to the phylum Ascomycota which accounted of about 84%.The endophytic assemblage was dominated by the class *** fungal genera such as Fusarium and Penicillium were found to be common to all the plant *** of endophytic fungi was found to be highest in the roots(H’=2.43).Mucor hiemalis,Penicillium sp.,Penicillium expansum,***,Phoma medicaginis,Trichoderma *** *** showed above 60%inhibition against the phytopathogen Alternaria solani.

Chemically synthesized ZnS thin film is found to be a good x-ray radiation sensor. We report the effect of annealing on the x-ray radiation detection sensitivity of a ZnS thin film synthesized by a chemical bath deposition technique. The chemically synthesized ZnS films are annealed at 333, 363 and 393K for 1 h. Structural analyses show that the lattice defects in the films decrease with annealing. Further, the band gap is also found to decrease from 3.38 to 3.21 eV after annealing at 393K. Current-voltage characteristics of the films are studied under dark and x-ray irradiation conditions. Due to the decrease of lattice defects and band gap, the conductivity under dark conditions is found to increase from 2.06 × 10^-6 to 1.69 × 10^-5 S/em, while that under x-ray irradiation increases from 4.13 × 10^-5 to 5.28 ×10^-5 S/cm. On the other hand, the x-ray radiation detection sensitivity of the films is found to decrease with annealing. This decrease of detection sensitivity is attributed to the decrease of the band gap as well as some structural and surface morphological changes occurring after annealing.

Fatty acid oxidation defects(FAOD)and urea cycle defects(UCD)are among the most common metabolic liver *** of these disorders is dotted with challenges as the strategies differ based on the type and severity of the *** those with FAOD the cornerstone of management is avoiding hypoglycemia which in turn prevents the triggering of fatty acid *** this review,we discuss the role of carnitine supplementation,dietary interventions,newer therapies like triheptanoin,long-term treatment and approach to positive newborn *** UCD the general goal is to avoid excessive protein intake and indigenous protein ***,one size does not fit all and striking the right balance between avoiding hyperammonemia and preventing deficiencies of essential nutrients is a formidable *** issues during the acute presentation including differential diagnosis of hyperammonemia,dietary dilemmas,the role of liver transplantation,management of the asymptomatic individual and monitoring are described in detail.A multi-disciplinary team consisting of hepatologists,metabolic specialists and dieticians is required for optimum management and improvement in quality of life for these patients.

Mitochondria,the powerhouse of a cell,are closely linked to the pathophysiology of various common as well as not so uncommon disorders of the liver and *** supports a prokaryotic descent,and,unsurprisingly,the organelle is worthy of being labeled an organism in *** highly metabolically active organs require a continuous feed of energy,any dysfunction in the structure and function of mitochondria can have variable impact,with the worse end of the spectrum producing catastrophic consequences with a multisystem *** categorized a hepatopathy,mitochondrial respiratory chain defects are not limited to the liver in time and *** liver involvement is also variable in clinical presentation as well as in age of onset,from acute liver failure,cholestasis,or chronic liver *** organs like eye,muscle,central and peripheral nervous system,gastrointestinal tract,hematological,endocrine,and renal systems are also variably *** hinges on recognition of subtle clinical clues,screening metabolic investigations,evaluation of the extrahepatic involvement,and role of genetics and tissue *** is aimed at both circumventing the acute metabolic crisis and long-term management including nutritional *** review lists and discusses the burden of mitochondrial respiratory chain defects,including various settings when to suspect,their evolution with time,including certain specific disorders,their tiered evaluation with diagnostic algorithms,management dilemmas,role of liver transplantation,and the future research tools.

Efficacy of natural biocide on control of microbial induced corrosion in oil pipelines mediated by Desulfovibrio vulgaris and Desulfovibrio gigas

We compared the efficacy of a natural biocide with four chemical tetrakishydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfonate, benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, and formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, to control microbial induced corrosion in oil pipelines. The efficacy of biocides were monitored against Desulfovibrio vulgaris and Desulfovibrio gigas in experimental pipes by measuring cell counts, H2S production, Fe（II） production, production of extracellular polymeric substances and structure of biofilm. The treatment with cow urine had minimum planktonic cell counts of 3 x 102 CFU/mL as well as biofilm cell counts of 9 x 101 CFU/mL as compared with tetrakishydroxyl methyl phosphonium sulfonate, benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde. Sulfide production was the lowest with cow urine （0.08 mmol]L）, followed by tetrakishydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfonate 0.72 mmol]L. On day 90 of treatment, Fe（II） production was also found to be the lowest with cow urine. The scanning electron microscopic studies indicated that the biofilm bacteria were killed by cow urine. These results demonstrate the cow urine mediated control of microbially induced corrosion, and this is indicative of its potential as a viable substitute of toxic biocides. To the best of our knowledge, this seems to be the first report which screens possible biocidal activity by cow urine as compared to the most common bioeides which oil industry is currently using.
