Fatigue and Corrosion Fatigue Properties of Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd Alloys in Glucose-Containing Simulated Body Fluids

Medical bone implant magnesium(Mg)alloys are subjected to both corrosive environments and complex loads in the human *** increasing number of hyperglycemic and diabetic patients in recent years has brought new challenges to the fatigue performance of Mg ***,it is significant to study the corrosion fatigue(CF)behavior of medical Mg alloys in glucose-containing simulated body fluids for their clinical ***,the corrosion and fatigue properties of extruded Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy in Hank’s balanced salt solution(HBSS)containing different concentrations(1 g/L and 3 g/L)of glucose were *** average grain size of the alloy is about 5μm,which provides excellent overall mechanical *** conditional fatigue strength of the alloy was 127 MPa in air and 88 MPa and 70 MPa in HBSS containing 1 g/L glucose and 3 g/L glucose,*** crack initiation points for alloys in air are oxide inclusions and in solution are corrosion *** corrosion rate of the alloy is high at the beginning,and decreases as the surface corrosion product layer thickens with the increase of immersion *** corrosion products of the alloy are mainly Mg(OH)_(2),MgO and a small amount of Ca-P *** electrochemical results indicated that the corrosion rate of the alloys gradually decreased with increasing immersion time,but the corrosion tendency of the alloy was greater in HBSS containing 3 g/L *** the one hand,glucose accelerates the corrosion process by adsorbing large amounts of aggressive Cl^(-)*** the other hand,glucose will be oxidized to form gluconic acid,and then reacts with Mg(OH)_(2) and MgO to form Mg gluconate,which destroys the corrosion product film and leads to the aggravation of corrosion and the accumulation of fatigue damage.

在300~5000℃、应变速率为0.1~0.0001 s−1的条件下,在万能试验机上对Al-5.6Zn-2Mg铝合金进行热压缩试验,以确定动态再结晶开始时的加工硬化速率曲线σ_(c)(ε_(c))l以及关键特征σ_(c)(ε_(c))l、σ_(p)(ε_(p))和σ_(ss)与Z系数之间的相关性。使用了四个本构模型,Arrhenius模型、改进的Johnson-Cook模型(MJC)、改进的Zerilli-Armstrong模型(MZA)和开发的人工神经网络(ANN)。结果表明,ANN型模型和Arrhenius模型的相对误差的绝对平均值最低,分别为0.486%和3.36%,MZA型模型和MJC型模型的相对误差的绝对平均值较高,分别为8.84%和3.93%。由于Arrhenius模型能够处理各种因素之间的非线性关系,因此它被认为是最合适的预测模型,但在材料性质未知或实验数据有限的情况下,MJC模型可能是一种更简单的替代方法。MZA模型不适合估计热压缩时的流变应力。此外,训练最好的神经网络模型的预测性能最好,相对误差的绝对平均值为0.486%,r值为0.99。

Spinel cubic ferrites have huge applications in me mory and high frequency *** the improvement of these modern devices,the magnetic coercivity,permeability,and dielectric properties of a ferrite are the important *** article focuses on improving the magnetic coercivity,magnetic permeability,and dielectric properties of Co_(0.2)Zn_(0.3)Ni_(0.5)Eu_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4) ferrites,where x=0.00,0.06,and *** X-ray diffraction(XrD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIr),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX),vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),and an impedance analyzer were used to characterize the structural,magnetic,and dielectric properties of the *** XrD patterns indicate the formation of spinel cubic structure of the samples with a secondary peak(EuFeO_(3))for Eu doped *** densities and porosities of the samples follow an inverse trend,where the doped samples’lattice parameters are increased with the increment of rare earth Eu *** FTIr analysis also proves the spinel cubic phase of the *** average grain size of the ferrites is obtained via FESEM images,and it is increased from 121 to 198 *** analysis confirms that doping of the Eu content also changes other hysteresis loop properties of Co_(0.2)Zn_(0.3)Ni_(0.5)Eu_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4) ***,the coercivity of the Eu doped samples is greater than that of the mother alloy(x=0.00).The EDX study shows that there is no impurity contamination in the *** permeability and dielectric measurements show an improved quality factor of the Eu-doped samples with low magnetic and dielectric *** dependent resistivity and impedance analysis also show the improved *** the observed properties of the samples,all the investigated ferrites might be strong candidates for potential applications in memory devices,magnetic sensors,and high frequency applications.

Elucidating microbial iron corrosion mechanisms with a hydrogenase-deficient strain of Desulfovibrio vulgaris

Sulfate-reducing microorganisms extensively contribute to the corrosion of ferrous metal *** is substantial debate over their corrosion *** investigated Fe^(0) corrosion with Desulfovibrio vulgaris,the sulfate reducer most often employed in corrosion *** were grown with both lactate and Fe^(0) as potential electron donors to replicate the common environmental condition in which organic substrates help fuel the growth of corrosive ***^(0) was corroded in cultures of a *** hydrogenase-deficient mutant with the 1:1 correspondence between Fe^(0) loss and H_(2) accumulation expected for Fe^(0) oxidation coupled to H+reduction to H_(2).This result and the extent of sulfate reduction indicated that *** was not capable of direct Fe^(0)-to-microbe electron transfer even though it was provided with a supplementary energy source in the presence of abundant ferrous *** in the hydrogenase-deficient mutant cultures was greater than in sterile controls,demonstrating that H_(2) removal was not necessary for the enhanced corrosion observed in the presence of *** parental H_(2)-consuming strain corroded more Fe^(0) than the mutant strain,which could be attributed to H_(2) oxidation coupled to sulfate reduction,producing sulfide that further stimulated Fe^(0) *** results suggest that H_(2) consumption is not necessary for microbially enhanced corrosion,but H_(2) oxidation can indirectly promote corrosion by increasing sulfide generation from sulfate *** finding that *** was incapable of direct electron uptake from Fe^(0) reaffirms that direct metal-to-microbe electron transfer has yet to be rigorously described in sulfate-reducing microbes.

Integrated CO_(2)capture and utilization(ICCU)technology requires dual functional materials(DFMs)to carry out the process in a single reaction *** influence of the calcination atmosphere on efficiency of 4%ru-8%Na_(2)CO_(3)-8%CaO/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)DFM is *** adsorbent precursors are first co-impregnated onto alumina and calcined in ***,ru precursor is impregnated and four aliquotes are subjected to different calcination protocols:static air in muffle or under different mixtures(10%H_(2)/N_(2),50%H_(2)/N_(2)and N_(2))*** are characterized by XrD,N_(2)adsorption-desorption,H_(2)chemisorption,TEM,XPS,H_(2)-TPD,H_(2)-TPr,CO_(2)-TPD and *** catalytic behavior is evaluated,in cycles of CO_(2)adsorption and hydrogenation to CH_(4),and temporal evolution of reactants and products concentrations is *** calcination atmosphere influences the physicochemical properties and,ultimately,activity of *** data and catalytic performance discover the acccomodation of ru nanoparticles disposition and basic sites is mostly influencing the catalytic *** calcined under N_(2)flow(ruNaCa-N_(2))shows the highest CH_(4)production(449μmol/g at 370℃),because a well-controlled decomposition of precursors which favors the better accomodation of adsorbent and ru phases,maximizing the specific surface area,the ru-basic sites interface and the participation of different basic sites in the CO_(2)methanation ***,the calcination in a N_(2)flow is revealed as the optimal calcination protocol to achieve highly efficient DFM for integrated CO_(2)adsorption and hydrogenation applications.

rechargeable Zn-air batteries(ZAB)have drawn extensive attention due to their eco-friendliness and ***,the lack of high-performance and low-cost oxygen redox reactions(OEr and Orr)catalysts has become one of the main stumbling blocks in their ***,we successfully fabricate a CoFe nanobubble encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon nanocage on wood carbon support(CoFe@NC/WC)via pyrolysis of a novel Prussian blue analog(PBA)/spruce *** hierarchical CoFe@NC/WC catalyst exhibits an excellent potential difference of 0.74 V between the OEr potential at 10 mA cm^(-2)and half-wave potential of Orr in 0.1 M KOH,comparable to recently reported preeminent ***,CoFe@NC/WC shows outstanding electrochemical performance in liquid ZAB,with a peak power density of 138.9 mW cm^(-2)and a specific capacity of 763.5 mAh g^(-1).More importantly,a bacterial cellulose nanofiber reinforced polyacrylic acid(BC-PAA)hydrogel electrolyte shows ultrahigh tensile-breaking stress of 1.58 *** conjunction with the as-prepared CoFe@NC/WC catalyst,BC-PAA-based wearable ZAB displays impressive rechargeability and foldability,and can power portable electronics,such as electronic timer and mobile phone,in bent *** work provides a new approach toward high-activity and low-cost catalysts for ZAB.

In this work the structural,electronic and thermoelectric properties of YbMg_(2)X_(2)(X=P,As,Sb,Bi)zintl compounds were investigated comprehensively using first principles *** electronic properties were studied using PBE GGA,TB-mBJ and hybrid(YS-PBE0)*** the structural parameters of optimized structures are in harmonious agreement to the available *** band structure study illustrates that the titled materials manifest metallic and semi metallic nature using PBE and TB-mBJ potentials while they show wide band gap semiconducting behavior by following hybrid(YS-PBE0)*** density of states(TDOS)and partial density of states(PDOS)were also calculated to glimpse the contribution of orbitals of atoms in the formation of *** properties were studied by using BoltzTraP2 code employed to *** get enormous values of Seebeck coefficient(S),power factor(PF)and thermoelectric figure of merit(ZT)for all the samples YbMg_(2)X_(2)(X=P,As,Sb,Bi),Moreover,the overwhelming transport properties for the titled compounds indicate the optimum level of carriers’concentration which pinpoints these materials to be better thermoelectrics in the 1-2-2 zintl family.

Cr-induced fusion reactions to synthesize superheavy elements

We investigated ^(50,52-54)Cr-induced fusion reactions for the synthesis of the superheavy element in the 104≤Z≤122 *** cross sections produced in this investigation using ^(54)Cr projectiles were compared with those obtained in prior *** estimated cross sections from this analysis are consistent with the findings of prior *** the current study,the predicted cross section was found to be 42fb at 236 MeV for ^(53)Cr+^(243)Am,23.2 fb at 236 MeV for ^(54)Cr+^(247)Cm,95.6 fb at 240 MeV for ^(53)Cr+248Bk,and 1.33 fb at 242 MeV for ^(53)Cr+***,these projected cross sections with excitation energy and beam energy will be useful in future Cr-induced fusion reaction investigations.

Europium recovery process by means of polymeric nanoparticles functionalized with acrylic acid,curcumin and fumaramide

Polymeric nanoparticles of poly(methyl methacrylate) were obtained by emulsion polymerization techniques in a proce ss of two *** particles were functionalized with acrylic acid,curcumin,and fumaramide and three series of polymeric particles were *** incorporation of functional groups was confirmed by Fourier transform-infrared spectrosocopy(FT-Ir) and ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis) *** spherical morphology of particles with an average diameter of 100 nm was observed by scartning electron microscopy(SEM).The polymeric materials were used for recovery of [Eu]from synthetic *** nanoparticles show excellent chelation capacity to trap rare-earth ions,because they recover more than 85% of [Eu] at pH of *** images of SEM after extraction process show arrays between particles with larger average particle sizes to 1.5 *** addition,the particles have a good stripping capacity,exceeding 50% of it,maintaining their homogeneity in morphology and good stability in dispersion for the recovery and stripping processes.A pseudo-second model order is obtained for the extraction and stripping processes while the best results of stripping process are obtained at pH of6.
