The distribution of good reservoir quality and its causes is the main challenges in carbonate reservoir *** study investigates the effects of diagenetic processes on the reservoir quality of the carbonate successions of the Asmari Formation,in the Marun oil field,southwest *** study applies an integrated approach including core petrography,petrophysical rock typing,stable carbon and oxygen isotopes as well as major and trace elements *** studies and geochemical analyses express that the Asmari limestones have been affected mainly by compaction,dissolution,recrystallization,calcite and anhydrite cementation and *** those diagenetic overprints,dolomitization and dissolution played an important role to enhance the reservoir quality of the ***,four types of dolomites were recognized and the rate of dolomitization increases toward the top of the Asmari carbonate *** models for dolomitization include mixing zone,brine reflux,seepage reflux and tidal pumping of *** Flow Zone Index and Discrete rock Type concepts led to classification of the Asmari reservoir into seven reservoir rock *** reservoir rock typing with petrographic studies and geochemical analyses also confirms that reservoir quality of the Asmari *** have been mainly controlled by diagenetic ***,stable isotopes,trace elements and facies analyses support the idea that carbonate intervals of the Asmari Formation were deposited in a warm,shallow-water environment under a saline condition.

After sea level rises during the Early Cretaceous, upper parts of the Khami Group sediments （Fahliyan, Gadvan, and Dariyan Formations） deposited over Jurassic sediments. The Lower Cretaceous （Aptian） Dariyan Formation （equivalent to the Shu＇aiba Formation and Hawar Member of the Arabian Plate） carbonates, which have hydrocarbon reservoir potential, form the uppermost portion of the Khami Group that unconformably overlays the Gadvan Formation and was unconformably covered by the Kazhdumi Formation and Burgan sandstones. Detailed paleontological, sedimentological, and well log analysis were performed on seven wells from Qeshm Island and offshore in order to analyze the sequence stratigraphy of this interval and correlate with other studies of the Dariyan Formation in this region. According to this study, the Dariyan Formation contains 14 carbonate lithofacies, which deposited on a ramp system that deepened in both directions （NE-wells 5, 6 and SWIwells 1, 2）. Sequence stratigraphy led to recognition of 5 Aptian third-order sequences toward the Bab Basin （SW-well 1） and 4 Aptian third-order sequences toward Qeshm Island （NE-wells 5 and 6） so these areas show higher gamma on the gamma ray logs and probably have higher source rock potential. Other wells （wells 2-4 and 7） mainly deposited in shallower ramp systems and contain 3 Aptian third-order sequences. On the other hand, rudstone and boundstone lithofacies of studied wells have higher reservoir potential and were deposited during Apt 3 and Apt 4 sequences of the Arabian Plate. The Dariyan Formation in Qeshm Island （well 6） and adjacent well （well 5） was deposited in an intrashelf basin that should be classified as a new intrashelf basin in future Aptian paleogeographic maps. We interpret that salt-related differential subsidence, crustal warping, and reactivation of basement faults of the Arabian Plate boundary were responsible for the creation of the intrashelf basin in the Qeshm area.

Petrographical and geochemical methods were combined to investigate the provenance, geodynamic and weathering history of the Shurijeh sandstones, Kopet-Dagh Basin. The point-counting method and XrF technique are used for modal and geochemical analyses. Based on petrographical examinations, it seems that the Shurijeh sandstones are mainly deposited in the craton interior and recycled orogen belts. In addition to petrographical investigation, geochemical analyses （major oxides and trace elements） of Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous rocks reveal that the sedimentation processes are performed in a passive continental margin. Such interpretation is supported with geodynamic and paleogeographical studies of the Kopeh-Dagh basin during this time. The geochemical investigations suggested that the composition of probable source rocks mostly was acidic-intermediate with minor mafic igneous rocks. Based on the above, Paleo-Tethys remnants and their collision-related granitoids, in the south and west of Mashhad, may have been the source area for these rocks. CIA values, which range from 63.8 to 94.9 in samples, are suggesting a moderate to relatively high degree of alteration （weathering） in the source area. Therefore, petrographical and paleogeographical studies of siliciclastic rocks can be used for the provenance, tectonic setting and paleoweathering studies in the source area.

Assessment of reservoir and fracture parameters is necessary to optimize oil production,especially in heterogeneous *** and image logs are regarded as two of the best methods for this ***,due to core limitations,using image log is considered as the best *** study aims to use electrical image logs in the carbonate Asmari Formation reservoir in Zagros Basin,SW Iran,in order to evaluate natural fractures,porosity system,permeability profile and heterogeneity index and accordingly compare the results with core and well *** results indicated that the electrical image logs are reliable for evaluating fracture and reservoir parameters,when there is no core available for a *** on the results from formation micro-imager(FMI)and electrical micro-imager(EMI),Asmari was recognized as a completely fractured reservoir in studied field and the reservoir parameters are mainly controlled by ***,core and image logs indicated that the secondary porosity varies from 0%to 10%.The permeability indicator indicates that zones 3 and 5 have higher permeability *** log permeability index shows a very reasonable permeability profile after scaling against core and modular dynamics tester mobility,mud loss and production index which vary between 1 and 1000 *** addition,no relationship was observed between core porosity and permeability,while the permeability relied heavily on fracture ***,fracture aperture was considered as the most important parameter for the determination of *** changes were also observed at zones 1-1 and 5 in the permeability trend,due to the high fracture *** can be concluded that the electrical image logs(FMI and EMI)are usable for evaluating both reservoir and fracture parameters in wells with no core data in the Zagros Basin,SW Iran.

The Asmari Formation deposited in the Zagros foreland basin during the ***,the Asmari Formation consists of limestone,dolomitic limestone,dolomite,argillaceous limestone,some anhydrite （Kalhur Member） and sandstones （Ahwaz Member）.This study is based on the analysis of core samples from four subsurface sections （wells Mn-68,Mn-281,Mn-292 and Mn-312） in the Marun Oilfieid in the Dezful embayment subzone in order to infer their provenance and tectonic setting of the Ahwaz Sandstone *** data reveal that the Ahwaz Sandstone comprises 97.5% quartz,1.6% feldspar,and 0.9% rock fragments and all samples are classified as quartz *** provenance and tectonic setting of the Ahwaz Sandstone have been assessed using integrated petrographic and geochemical *** analysis reveals that mono-and poly-crystalline quartz grains from metamorphic and igneous rocks of a craton interior setting were the dominant ***,major and trace element concentrations in the rocks of the Ahwaz Sandstone indicate deposition in a passive continental margin *** indicated by the CIW index （chemical index of weathering） of the Ahwaz Sandstone （average value of 82） their source area underwent ＂intense＂ recycling but ＂moderate to high＂ degree of chemical *** petrography and geochemistry results are consistent with a tropical,humid climate and low-relief highlands.

Erosion of geological units and sediment load in rivers can be considered as the serious problems in recent *** sediment loads generate major hazards for water resources development,particularly in terms of loss of reservoir storage due to sedimentation and siltation of water distribution *** this paper,the performance of four sediment rating curve (SrC) development methods was evaluated for the Shirin Darreh river(SDr) basin (1750 km^(2)),located in North Khorasan Province,*** of flow discharge (Q) and suspended sediment flux (SSF)(Q-SSF pairs,N=957)and daily flow discharge,recorded by the regional Water Company of North Khorasan (rWCNK) at the Qaleh-Barbar (QB) gauging site during 1989-2018 were *** flow discharge classification method performed best by meeting the desired criteria of most statistical indices,including normalized root mean square error (NrMSE),mean bias error (MBE),mean absolute error (MAE),index of agreement (d),and coefficient of determination (r^(2)).Based on the optimized method,the rate of suspended sediment transportation at the study site was estimated about2.7×10^(6) ton year^(-1).Erodibility of the exposed formations in the study area was estimated based on a factorial scoring model (FSM).Three indices,focused on the outcrop and erodibility,were calculated for the geological units at sub-basin and total *** deposits are the most extensive geological unit in the three sub-basins and the maximum formation outcrop ratio (FOr) and participation in erosion (PCE)were obtained for these rocks at total *** fact,marl unit can be regarded as the main source to supply the suspended sediments in the study basin.

Two sections from the Silurian deposits in the Central Iran Micro and Turan Plates were measured and sampled. These deposits are mostly composed of submarine volcanic rocks, skeletal and non-skeletal limestone, shale and sandstone that were deposited in low to high energy conditions （from tidal flat to deep open marine）. According to gradual deepening trend, wide lateral distribution of facies as well as absence of resedimentation deposits, a depositional model of a homoclinal ramp was proposed for these deposits. Field observations and facies distribution indicate that, two depositional sequences were recognized in both sections. These sections show similarities in facies and depositional sequence during the Early Silurian in the area. Although there are some opinions and evidences that demonstrated Paleo-Tethys rifting phase started at the Late Ordovician-Early Silurian, similarities suggest that the Turan and Iran Plates were not completely detached tectonic block during this time, and that their depositional conditions were affected by global sea level changes and tectonic events.

Geochemical analysis of sandstones from the Sardar Formation （from two stratigraphic successions） in east-central Iran were used for identification of geochemical characterization of sandstones, provenance and tectonic setting. Sandstones in the two lithostratigraphic successions have similar chemical compositions suggesting a common provenance. Bulk-rock geochemistry analysis of Carboniferous sandstones from Sardar Formation indicates that they are mainly quartz dominated and are classified as quartzarenites, sublitharenites and subarkoses, derived from acid igneous to intermediate igneous rocks. Discrimination function analysis indicates that the sandstones of Sardar Formation were derived from quartzose sedimentary provenance in a recycled orogenic setting. Also, major and trace elements in sandstones of Sardar Formation （e.g., K2O/Na2O vs. SiO2 ） indicate deposition in a stable passive continental margin （PM）. Chemical index of alteration （CIA） for these rocks （65%） suggests a moderate to relatively high degree of weathering in the source area.

The study area is located in the east Tabas Block in Central Iran. Facies analysis of the Qal＇eh Dokhtar Formation（middle Callovian to late Oxfordian） was carried out on two stratigraphic sections and applied to depositional environment and sequence stratigraphy interpretation. This formation conformably overlies and underlies the marly-silty Baghamshah and the calcareous Esfandiar formations, respectively. Lateral and vertical facies changes documents low-to high energy environments, including tidal-flat, beach to intertidal, lagoon, barrier, and open-marine. According to these facies associations and absence of resedimentation deposits a depositional model of a mixed carbonate-siliciclastic ramp was proposed for the Qal＇eh Dokhtar Formation. Seven third-order depositional sequences were identified in each two measured stratigraphic sections. Transgressive systems tracts（TSTs） show deepening upward trends, i.e. shallow water beach to intertidal and lagoonal facies, while highstand systems tracts（HST） show shallowing upward trends in which deep water facies are overlain by shallow water facies. All sequence boundaries（except at the base of the stratigraphic column） are of the no erosional（SB2） types. We conclude eustatic rather than tectonic factors played a dominant role in controlling carbonate depositional environments in the study area.
