Source apportionment of particulate matter （PM10） measurements taken in Delhi, India between January 2013 and June 2014 was carried out using two receptor models, principal component analysis with absolute principal component scores （PCA/APCS） and UNMIX. The results were compared with previous estimates generated using the positive matrix factorization （PMF） receptor model to investigate each model＇s source-apportioning capability. All models used the PM10 chemical composition （organic carbon （OC）, elemental carbon （EC）, water soluble inorganic ions （WSIC）, and trace elements） for source apportionment. The average PM10 concentration during the study period was 249.7±103.9 μg/m3 （range： 61.4-584.8 μg/m3）. The UNMIX model resolved five sources （soil dust （SD）, vehicular emissions （VE）, secondary aerosols （SA）, a mixed source of biomass burning （BB） and sea salt （SS）, and industrial emissions （IE））. The PCA/APCS model also resolved five sources, two of which also included mixed sources （SD, VE, SD＋SS, （SA＋BB＋SS） and 1E）. The PMF analysis differentiated seven individual sources （SD, VE, SA, BB, SS, IE, and fossil fuel combustion （FFC））. All models identified the main sources contributing to PM10 emissions and reconfirmed that VE, SA, BB, and SD were the dominant contributors in Delhi.

Background This study systematically reviewed etiology, prevalence, treatment and outcome of Barrett's esophagus (BE) in the pediatric population. Methods PubMed? was searched for terms 'Barrett's esophagus' and 'children'. End points were age of patients, etiology, association with other syndromes, treatment, incidence of carcinoma and outcome. This review was conducted according to the PrISMA guidelines. Data were collected, entered and analyzed into a Microsoft Excel? spreadsheet database. results Search revealed 278 articles published between 1984 and 2017, of which 18 met the inclusion criteria. There were 130 patients for analysis with a mean age 10.6 years (0.8–17.2 years). BE was diagnosed in 80 patients with confirmed gastroesophageal reflux (GEr) only;further 20 patients were neurologically impaired and had GEr, 13 after esophageal atresia (EA) with or without tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) repair with associated GEr, 6 post-chemotherapy, 1 after post caustic burns, 1 after esophageal replacement with stomach, 1 after peptic esophageal stricture, 1 with secretory diarrhea, 1 with Fanconi anemia, 1 tetralogy of Fallot, and 5 healthy children. regarding treatment, 26 were on medical treatment only, 16 had surgeries combined with medical treatment, 80 patients underwent surgery only, 1 was on diet management, 4 were on surveillance only and 2 were never treated for BE as death occurred because of associated conditions. Fundoplication was the most commonly performed surgery (82.2%). Adenocarcinoma was found in one 23-year-old patient. Mean follow-up was 3.45 years (10 months–13 years) and long-term outcome showed recurrences in 8 and esophago-mediastinal fistula and proximal esophagus ulcer in 1. There were 7 lethal outcomes which were not directly associated with BE. Conclusions Although BE is considered a premalignant condition;incidence of carcinoma in pediatric population is low. Long-term follow-up with endoscopies and biopsies seems to be advisable for

Background After minimally invasive repair for pectus excavatum (MIrPE), similar procedures for pectus carinatum were developed. This study aimed to analyse the various published techniques of minimal access repair for pectus carinatum (MArPC) and compare the outcomes. Data sources Literature was reviewed on PubMed with the terms 'pectus carinatum', 'minimal access repair', 'thoracos-copy' and 'children'. results Twelve MArPC techniques that included 13 articles and 140 patients with mean age 15.46 years met the inclusion criteria. Success rate of corrections wasn = 125, about 89% in cumulative reports, with seven articles reporting 100%. The complication rate was 39.28%. Since the pectus bar is placed over the sternum and has a large contact area, skin irritation was the most frequent morbidity (n = 20, 14.28%). However, within the complication group (n = 55), wire breakage (n = 21, 38.18%) and bar displacement (n = 10, 18.18%) were the most frequent complications. Twenty-two (15.71%) patients required a second procedure. recurrences have been reported in four of twelve techniques. There were no lethal outcomes. Conclusions MArPC techniques are not standardized, as MIrPE are, so comparative analysis is difficult as the only common denominator is minimal access. Surgical morbidity is high in MArPC and affects > 2/3rd patients with about 15% requiring surgery for complication management.

Himalayan mountain system is distinguished globally for a rich biodiversity and for its role in regulating the climate of the South Asia. Traditional crop-livestock mixed farming in the Himalaya is highly dependent on forests for fodder and manure prepared from forest leaf litter and livestock excreta. Apart from sustaining farm production, forests provide a variety of other tangible and intangible benefits, which are critical for sustainable livelihood of not only 115 million mountain people, but also many more people living in the adjoining plains. Extension of agricultural land- use coupled with replacement of traditional staple food crops by cash crops and of multipurpose agroforestry trees by fruit trees are widespread changes. Cultivation of Fagopyrum esculentum, Fagopyrum tataricum, Panicum miliaceum, Setaria italica and Pisum arvense has been almost abandoned. Increasing stress on cash crops is driven by a socio-cultural change from subsistence to market economy facilitated by improvement in accessibility andsupplyofstaplefoodgrainsatsubsidizedpriceby the government. Farmers have gained substantial economic benefits from cash crops. However, loss of agrobiodiversity implies more risks to local livelihood in the events of downfall in market price/demand of cashcrops,terminationofsupplyofstaplefoodgrains at subsidized price, pest outbreaks in a cash crop dominated homogeneous landscape and abnormal climate years. Indigenous innovations enabling improvement in farm economy by conserving and/enhancing agrobiodiversity do exist, but are highly localized. The changes in agrobiodiversity are such that soil loss and run-off from the croplands have dramatically increased together with increase in local pressure on forests. As farm productivity is maintained with forest-based inputs, continued depletion of forest resources will result in poor economic returns from agriculture to local people, apart from loss of global benefits from Himalayan forests. The maximum possibility of utilizing the Indian coking coals and inferior grade coking coal for producing metallurgical coke through non-recovery stamp charging tech_nology was investigated. Indian indigenous coals contained low percent of vitrinite （〈50%） and higher content of ash （〉15%） compared to imported coking coal. Therefore, the selection of appropriate proportion of different types of coals was a major challenge for coke makers. Coal blend selection criterion based on a single coefficient, named as composite coking potential （CCP）, was developed. The use of increased proportion of semi-soft coal （crucible swelling number of 2.5） and high ash （≥15%） indigenous coal in the range of 20%- 35% and 20%-65% respectively in the blends resulted in good quality of coke. Plant data of a non recovery coke oven were used for developing and validating the model. The results showed that the coke strength after reaction （CSr） varied in the range of 63.7%-67.7% and the M40 value was between 81.8 and 89.3 in both the cases.

India is very rich in solar energy,with a total of 3000 sunshine hours annually in most *** installation of on-grid rooftop electricity-generation photovoltaic(PV)systems is currently undergoing substantial growth and extension as an alternate source of energy that contributes to Indian *** paper analyses the viability of mounting solar PV plants in distinct cities of India in various locations with different climate conditions such as Delhi,Bhopal,Udaipur,Ahmadabad,Thiruvananthapuram,Pune and *** technical feasibility of installing a 100-kWp system is evaluated using PVsyst software under local climatic *** performance ratio is between 70%and 80%,with a capacity utilization factor of 19-21%and estimated energy output of 170 MWh annually at all *** system produces 400-500 kWh of energy daily at a per-unit cost of INr 6-7(Indian rupees)in all *** lifespan of the system is~25-30 years,reducing about 150-170 tons of carbon-dioxide emission to the atmosphere every *** payback period of the system is~5-6 years,which defines its *** information would encourage organizations and individuals to install such PV plants on the rooftops of buildings to use solar electricity for meeting the energy demands of the country.
