Microfluidic systems enable automated and highly parallelized cell culture with low volumes and defined liquid *** achieve this,systems typically integrate all functions into a single,monolithic device as a“one size fits all”***,this approach limits the end users’(re)design flexibility and complicates the addition of new functions to the *** address this challenge,we propose and demonstrate a modular and standardized plug-and-play fluidic circuit board(FCB)for operating microfluidic building blocks(MFBBs),whereby both the FCB and the MFBBs contain integrated valves.A single FCB can parallelize up to three MFBBs of the same design or operate MFBBs with entirely different *** operation of the MFBBs through the FCB is fully automated and does not incur the cost of an extra external *** use this modular platform to control three microfluidic large-scale integration(mLSI)MFBBs,each of which features 64 microchambers suitable for cell culturing with high spatiotemporal *** show as a proof of principle that we can culture human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)for multiple days in the chambers of this ***,we also use the same FCB to control an MFBB for liquid dosing with a high dynamic *** results demonstrate that MFBBs with different designs can be controlled and combined on a single *** novel modular approach to operating an automated microfluidic system for parallelized cell culture will enable greater experimental flexibility and facilitate the cooperation of different chips from different labs.

Law enforcement agencies have a restricted area in which their powers apply,which is called their *** restrictions also apply to the ***,on the Internet,the physical borders of the jurisdiction,typically country borders,are hard to *** our case,it is hard to establish whether someone involved in criminal online behavior is indeed a Dutch *** propose a way to overcome the arduous task of manually investigating whether a user on an Internet forum is Dutch or *** precisely,we aim to detect that a given English text is written by a Dutch native *** develop a detector,we follow a machine learning ***,we need to prepare a specific training *** obtain a corpus that is representative for online forums,we collected a large amount of English forum posts from Dutch and non-Dutch authors on *** learn a detection model,we used a bag-of-words representation to capture potential misspellings,grammatical errors or unusual turns of phrases that are characteristic of the mother tongue of the *** this learning task,we compare the linear support vector machine and regularized logistic regression using the appropriate performance metrics f1 score,precision,and average *** results show logistic regression with frequency-based feature selection performs best at predicting Dutch *** study should be directed to the general applicability of the results that is to find out if the developed models are applicable to other forums with comparable high performance.

Two-dimensional NMr study on the single-stranded octadeoxynucleotide,d(TT- GGGGTT)is *** of the base protons,the H1′,H2′ and H2″ protons were made by two-dimensional Nuclear Overhauser Enhancement Spectroscopy(NOESY)and two-dimensional homonuclear j-correlated Spectroscopy(COSY).The result indicates that the overall structure of the single-stranded d(TTGGGGTT)is a right-handed B-type helix.

Post-acute pancreatitis diabetes(PAPD)is the second most common type of diabetes below type 2 diabetes *** to the boom in research on this entity carried out during the last decade,its recognition has ***,much of the medical community still does not recognize it as a medium and long-term complication of acute pancreatitis(AP).recent prospective cohort studies show that its incidence is about 23%globally and 34.5%in patients with severe *** the overall increase in the incidence of AP this complication will be certainly seen more *** to its high morbidity,mortality and difficult control,early detection and treatment are ***,its risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms are not clearly *** diagnosis should be made excluding pre-existing diabetes and applying the criteria of the American Diabetes Association after 90 d of resolution of one or more AP *** review will show the evidence published so far on the incidence and prevalence,risk factors,possible pathophysiological mechanisms,clinical outcomes,clinical characteristics and preventive and corrective management of *** important gaps needing to be clarified in forthcoming studies will also be discussed.

目的:评估左氧氟沙星、加替沙星及莫西沙星等新氟喹诺酮类药物对肺结核患者的早期杀菌活性及延长早期杀菌活性。设计:随机开放临床试验。40例成年新诊断的涂阳肺结核患者(每组10例)分别每日单一接受异烟肼300mg,或左氧氟沙星1000mg,或加替沙星400mg,或莫西沙星400mg的7天治疗。治疗前2天及单药治疗7天期间,每日收集痰液进行定量培养。计量单药治疗开始的头2天(0-2天)及治疗后5天(2-7天)的菌量下降情况,以评估各药的早期及延长早期杀菌活性。对实验室工作人员关于病人治疗分组信息采用单盲法。结果:异烟肼的早期杀菌活性为0.67log10cfu/毫升/天,高于莫西沙星(0.33log10cfu/毫升/天)及加替沙星(0.35log10cfu/毫升/天)。与每日1000mg左氧氟沙星的早期杀菌活性(0.45log10cfu/毫升/天)相比,无统计学差异(P=0.14)。3种氟喹诺酮类药物的早期杀菌活性(0-2天)与延长早期杀菌活性(2-7天)相似。总体说来,氟喹诺酮类药物的延长早期杀菌活性高于异烟肼。结论:莫西沙星、加替沙星及高剂量左氧氟沙星,虽然略低于异烟肼,但均有良好的早期杀菌活性,并具有较高的延长早期杀菌活性。有理由对这些药物敏感的结核病人进行进一步的治疗研究。

为了测量高覆盖条件下(LAI=5)玉米冠层的方向孔隙率,利用一台基于工业用吊车平台的窄视角热红外成像仪开展测量。在此基础上建立了一个几何光学和辐射传输混合模型模拟半球空间的孔隙率分布。测量结果表明,大多数的孔隙出现在邻近的植株行之间,这导致了在热红外图像中,冠层还保持着垄行结构的特征。基于已经得到的几何参数,本研究发展的模型具有垄行作物孔隙率分布特征,模拟的孔隙率与被观测的孔隙率保持很好的一致。更进一步的改进,需通过计算机模拟以建立更加真实的作物结构描述,这也是以后的一个研究方向。

Extremely high frequency of autoimmune-predisposing alleles in medieval specimens

The precise etiology and reasons for the increase in incidence of autoimmune disorders still remain unclear, and although both genetic and environmental factors have been proven to shape individual predisposition, it is not known which of the factors, if not both, is responsible for the boom observed during the last decades. In order to establish whether a higher frequency of autoimmune-predisposing alleles may explain this increase we took advantage of ancient DNA methodology to establish the genetic predisposition, conferred by cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen-4 (CTLA4) +49A/G and human leukocyte antigens (HLA) DQB157, in population inhabiting Poland in the Middle Ages. After successful typing of 42 individuals from a 12th^14th's century archeological burial site, we found that frequencies of the predisposing alleles in the medieval population were higher than they are at present, suggesting thus that the recently observed incidence increase results most probably from factors of other than genetic nature.
