This paper presents a technique for controlling the pressure of a molten metal when using a new type of iron casting method called sand mold press casting to realize high productivity and obtain high-quality *** past test results using this method showed a casting yield of 90% to 95%,while conventional methods only show a casting yield of 60% to 70%.Although the press casting method does not require a sprue cup or runner channel casting defects such as metal penetration are often caused by the high pressure in the high-velocity pressing part of this casting ***,we proposed a pressure control method with a mathematical model of molten metal pressure,and with it we achieved experimental confirmation of the successful production of brake drums at different pressing *** show that the proposed pressing control method can realize sound,penetration-free casting ***,the theoretical analysis and design of this pressing process had not previously been studied sufficiently,and therefore this paper presents the theoretical design algorithm for the process as well as its experimental confirmation.

The composite of high density polyethylene reinforced with silane-modified TiO2 particles （silane-TiO2/HDPE） is a potential bone substitute biomaterial. The structure, bioactivity, and mechanical properties of silane-TiO2/HDPE are analogous to those of natural bone, correspondingly. In order to investigate the effect of silane connection and saline solution on fatigue behaviors, flexural fatigue tests with this composite were carried out in both air and saline solution. Saline solution was found to have different effect on fatigue life. In saline solution, the fatigue life could be improved at stress levels lower than 30 MPa, while the fatigue life could be reduced at stress levels higher than 30 MPa. After analyzing the fracture morphologies, different failure mechanisms were proposed, and the important role of silane connection in the composite during the fatigue process was discussed. Silane connection cannot only support the loading stress but also hinder the failure process under loading effectively. For dry specimens, no interfacial failure between the filler and matrix was found. For wet specimens, it is inferred that the synergetic effect of saline solution and high concentrated stress at high stress level could easily destroy the silane connection, which accelerated the fracture process, whereas the synergetic effect of saline solution and silane connection at low stress level could promote the formation of more microcracks on sample surface, which hindered the final fracture.

The Karvonen formula, which is widely used to estimate exercise intensity, contains maximum heart rate, H rmax, as a variable. This study employed pedaling experiments to assess which of the proposed formulas for calculating H rmaxwas the most suitable for use with the Karvonen formula. First, two kinds of experiments involving an ergometer were performed: an all-in-one-day experiment that tested eight pedaling loads in one day, and a one-load-per-day experiment that tested one load per day for eight days.A comparison of the data on 7 subjects showed that the all-in-one-day type of experiment was better for assessing H rmaxformulas,at least for the load levels tested in our experiments. A statistical analysis of the experimental data on 47 subjects showed two of the H rmaxformulas to be suitable for use in the Karvonen formula to estimate exercise intensity for males in their 20 s. In addition, the physical characteristics of a person having the greatest impact on exercise intensity were determined.

Parsing of human images is a fundamental task for determining semantic parts such as the face,arms, and legs, as well as a hat or a dress. recent deep-learning-based methods have achieved significant improvements, but collecting training datasets with pixel-wise annotations is labor-intensive. In this paper,we propose two solutions to cope with limited ***, to handle various poses, we incorporate a pose estimation network into an end-to-end humanimage parsing network, in order to transfer common features across the domains. The pose estimation network can be trained using rich datasets and can feed valuable features to the human-image parsing network. Secondly, to handle complicated backgrounds,we increase the variation in image backgrounds automatically by replacing the original backgrounds of human images with others obtained from large-scale scenery image datasets. Individually, each solution is versatile and beneficial to human-image parsing, while their combination yields further improvement. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through comparisons and various applications such as garment recoloring, garment texture transfer, and visualization for fashion analysis.

The reversible transformation between matrix and martensite in Ni-Ti shape memory alloys has been dynamically observed under *** orientation relation between martensite and austenite as well as the structural change near the transition temperature has been also studied with the help of HrEM *** results show that the orientation relation between martensite and austenite is[11]_A//[10]_M,[110]_A//[001]_M,(110)_A//(001)_M and the angle between(110)_A and(010)_M is about 6.5°.The crystal defects of martensite are found to be twin and stacking fault,and the twin plane as(100).

High-speed measurement confronts the extreme speed limit when the signal becomes comparable to the noise *** the context of broadband mid-infrared spectroscopy,state-of-the-art ultrafast Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers,in particular dual-comb spectrometers,have improved the measurement rate up to a few MSpectra s^(-1),which is limited by the signal-to-noise ***-stretch infrared spectroscopy,an emerging ultrafast frequency-swept mid-infrared spectroscopy technique,has shown a record-high rate of 80 MSpectra s^(-1) with an intrinsically higher signal-to-noise ratio than Fourier-transform spectroscopy by more than the square-root of the number of spectral ***,it can measure no more than~30 spectral elements with a low resolution of several ***,we significantly increase the measurable number of spectral elements to more than 1000 by incorporating a nonlinear upconversion *** one-to-one mapping of a broadband spectrum from the mid-infrared to the near-infrared telecommunication region enables low-loss time-stretching with a single-mode optical fiber and low-noise signal detection with a high-bandwidth *** demonstrate high-resolution mid-infrared spectroscopy of gas-phase methane molecules with a high resolution of 0.017 cm^(-1).This unprecedentedly high-speed vibrational spectroscopy technique would satisfy various unmet needs in experimental molecular science,e.g.,measuring ultrafast dynamics of rreversible phenomena,statistically analyzing a large amount of heterogeneous spectral data,or taking broadband hyperspectral images at a high frame rate.

In the previous researches, it is known that the swirl flow in circular pipe causes the temperature separation. recently, it is shown that the temperature separation occurs in a vortex chamber when compressed air are pumped into this device from the periphery. Especially, in a cavity installed in the periphery of the chamber, the highest temperature was observed. Therefore, it is expected that this device can be used as a heat source in the engineering field. In recent researches, the mechanism of temperature separation in vortex chamber has been investigated by some researchers. However, there are few researches for the effect of diameter and volume of vortex chamber, height of central rod and position of cavity on the temperature separation. Further, no detailed physical explanation has been made for the temperature separation phenomena in the vortex chamber. In the present study, the effects of chamber configuration and position of the cavity on temperature separation in the vortex chamber were investigated experimentally.

Energy reduction of a submerged membrane bioreactor using a polytetrafluoroethylene （PTFE） hollow-fiber membrane

In this study, we modified a polytetrafluoroethylene （PTFE） hollow-fiber membrane element used for submerged membrane bioreactors （MBrs） to reduce the energy consumption during MBr processes. The high mechanical strength of the PTFE membrane made it possible to increase the effective length of the membrane fiber from 2 to 3 m. In addition, the packing density was increased by 20% by optimizing the membrane element configuration. These modifications improve the efficiency of membrane cleaning associated with aeration. The target of specific energy consumption was less than 0.4 kWh·m^-3 in this study. The continuous operation of a pilot MBr treating real municipal wastewater revealed that the MBr utilizing the modified membrane element can be stably operated under a specific air demand per membrane surface area （SADm） of 0.13 m^3·m^-2. hr I when the daily- averaged membrane fluxes for the constant flow rate and flow rate fluctuating modes of operation were set to 0,6 and 0.5m^3·m^-2·d^-1 respectively. The specific energy consumption under these operating conditions was estimated to be less than 0.37 kWh.m^-3. These results strongly suggest that operating an MBr equipped with the modified membrane element with a specific energy consumption of less than 0.4 kWh·m^-3 is highly possible.

Based on the design of the fluorescent site of a fluorescent probe,we have created a unique system that changes its twisting response to *** probes were synthesized,in which phenylboronic acid and two kinds of aromatic fluorescent site(pyrene or anthracene)were conjugated by an amide *** the fluorescence measurement of pyrene-type probe 1,dimer fluorescence was observed at high *** induced circular dichroism(ICD)experiments,a response was observed only in the presence of glucose and γ-cyclodextrin,and no response was seen with *** the other hand,in the fluorescence measurement of anthracene-type probe 2,dimer fluorescence was observed in the presence of both glucose and galactose,and the fluorescence was different from the case of *** the ICD spectra of these inclusion complexes were measured,an inversion of the Cotton effect,which indicates a change in the twisted structure,was observed in galactose and *** differences in response to monosaccharides may originate in the interaction between the fluorescent site and the cyclodextrin cavity.
