An augmented method is proposed for solving stationary incompressible Stokes equations with a Dirichlet boundary condition along parts of the *** this approach,the normal derivative of the pressure along the parts of the boundary is introduced as an additional variable and it is solved by the GMrES iterative *** dimension of the augmented variable in discretization is the number of grid points along the boundary which is O(N).Each GMrES iteration(or one matrix-vector multiplication)requires three fast Poisson solvers for the pressure and the *** our numerical experiments,only a few iterations are *** have also combined the augmented approach for Stokes equations involving interfaces,discontinuities,and singularities.

Near-threshold fatigue crack propagation behaviour of a cold-worked copper tested with distinct fa- tigue testing systems under different stress ratios has been *** emphasis was placed on the evaluation of crack closure effect as well as the effective fatigue threshold,It was found that the fatigue threshold for r=0 is higher than those for r=-1 and r=0.4,for which almost the same threshold value was *** with the conventional closure evaluation method,the pro- posed new closure evaluation method can generally interpret the dependence of the fatigue thresh- old on stress ratio and loading condition,and leads to a higher and relatively constant effective fa- tigue threshold of about 3 MPa·m^(1/2) for the cold-worked copper at different stress ratios and loading conditions.

In biology, we continue to appreciate the fact that the DNA sequence alone falls short when attempting to explain the intricate inheritance patterns for complex traits. This is particularly true for human disorders that appear to have simple genetic causes. The study of epigenetics, and the increased access to the epigenetic profiles of different tissues has begun to shed light on the genetic complexity of many basic biological processes, both physiological and pathological. Epigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression that are not due to alterations in the DNA sequence. Various mechanisms of epigenetic regulation exist, including DNA methylation and histone modification. The identification, and increased understanding of key players and mechanisms of epigenetic regulation have begun to provide significant insight into the underlying origins of various human genetic disorders. One such disorder is CHArGE syndrome （OMIM #214800）, which is a leading cause of deaf-blindness worldwide. A majority of CHArGE syndrome cases are caused by haploinsufficiency for the CHD7 gene, which encodes an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling protein involved in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression. The CHD7 protein has been highly conserved throughout evolution, and research into the function of CHD7 homologs in multiple model systems has increased our understanding of this family of proteins, and epigenetic mechanisms in general. Here we provide a review of CHArGE syndrome, and discuss the epigenetic functions of CHD7 in humans and CHD7 homologs in model organisms.

Cowper’s syringoceles are uncommon,usually described in children and most commonly limited to the *** describe more complex variants in an adult population affecting with varying degrees of severity,the glands themselves,and the complications they may lead *** hundred consecutive urethrograms of patients with unreconstructed strictures were ***-six patients(mean age:41.1 years)with Cowper’s syringoceles who were managed between 2009 and 2016 were subsequently ***,radiological appearance,treatment(when indicated),and outcomes were *** 100 urethrograms in patients with strictures,33.0%demonstrated filling of Cowper’s ducts or glands,occurring predominantly in patients with bulbar *** 1 of 26 patients with non-bulbar strictures had a visible duct/*** 26 symptomatic patients,15 presented with poor *** four patients,a grossly dilated Cowper’s duct obstructed the *** the remaining 11 patients,a bulbar stricture caused the symptoms and the syringocele was identified *** patients presented with perineal *** six of them,fluoroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging(MrI)revealed complex multicystic lesions within the bulbourethral *** patients developed perineoscrotal *** the 11 patients with strictures,the syringocele was no longer visible after *** three of four patients with urethral obstruction secondary to a dilated Cowper’s duct,this resolved after transperineal excision(n=2)and endoscopic deroofing(n=1).Five of six patients with complex syringoceles involving Cowper’s glands were excised surgically with symptomatic relief in *** conclusion,Cowper’s syringocele in adults is more common than previously thought and may cause lower urinary tract symptoms or be associated with serious complications which usually require surgical treatment.

The effects of atropine, diazepam and pralidoxime were studied for their ability to block the pathological lesions induced by sarin. rats were exposed to an aerosol of sarin at a concentration of 51.2mg-m for 15 min following the pretreatment with one of the following combinations: atropine (10 mg/kg, i.m.) and diazepam (0.5 mg/kg, i.m.); atropine and pralidoxime (25 mg/kg, i.m.); diazepam and pralidoxime; atropine, diazepam and pralidoxime. Lung exposed to sarin aerosols revealed an increased cellular proliferation with progressive diffused interstitial thickening on the 4th day following exposure. On the 16th day, loss of alveolar space and consolidation of large areas of all lobes were observed. Sarin also caused damage to the respiratory bronchioles. All the therapy regime blocked the development of lung lesions in the descending orders: atropine, diazepam and pralidoxime, atropine and diazepam > diazepam and pralidoxime > atropine and pralidoxime. The result suggests that diazepam in combination with atropine and pralidoxime could be an effective drug combination regime for the lung lesions.
