A spice formulation study in Burkina Faso was carried out using local ingredients for the benefit of households. the objective of this study was to propose some spice formulations based on local ingredients in order to reduce the use of chemical spices in the preparation of different dishes. the Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology was used for the formulation of the spices and their physicochemical, nutritional and sensory characteristics were evaluated by standardized and standard methods. the results obtained showed lipid contents (g/100 g DM) ranging from 10.41 ± 0.26 to 15.64 ± 0.68, total sugars from 4.39 ± 0.32 to 5.46 ± 0.31, protein from 3.65 ± 0.17 to 12.04 ± 0.35 and ash from 5.83 ± 0.01 to 7.02 ± 0.01. the polyphenol content ranged from 9.09 ± 1.60 to 11.33 ± 0.90, and the flavonoid content ranged from 0.65 ± 0.03 to 1.08 ± 0.13. the sensory analysis carried out showed that the spices have generally satisfactory organoleptic characteristics. these results constitute new information in the diet of populations and are an alternative to the chemical spices used in their cooking.

this work aimed to(i)understand conventional and pulse gas tungsten arc welding(GtAW)of AZ31B,and(ii)explore high frequency welding(100 Hz-1500 Hz).GtA welding with alternating current(AC)and direct current electrode positive(DCEP)polarities yielded crack-free partial penetration welds for6 mm thick AZ31B alloy *** under direct current electrode negative(DCEN)polarity with identical parameters as that for AC and DCEP resulted in full penetration welds that had ***-free full-penetration welds could be accomplished with pulse GtA welding using DCEN polarity at a pulse frequency of 1 Hz with a pulse duration ratio of 1:*** resultant DCEN P 1:1 weld metal had a microstructure finer than the conventional DCEN *** produced with pulse duration ratios of 1:2and 1:4 lacked penetration but had a much finer microstructures because of the lower heat *** arc constriction by the high frequency pulsing in the Activ Arc■-High frequency(AA-HF)mode welding was responsible for deeper *** produced under DCEN pulsing and AA-HF conditions had hardness higher than conventional DCEN,DCEP and AC GtA welds,attributed to the finer ***-HF GtA welding produced defect free deeper penetration welds with good microstructural features/mechanical properties and also gave an advantage of 50%enhanced productivity when welded at1500 Hz.

Effect of electroacupuncture on pain after periodontal flap surgery:a randomized controlled trial

OBJECtIVE: to examine the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) application on postoperative pain levels and the amount of analgesic use in patients who underwent periodontal flap surgery. MEtHODS: In this prospective, randomized and controlled study, patients planned for periodontal surgery were divided into two groups [EA group(n = 22): patients who received electroacupuncture and control group(n = 22): patients who did not receive electroacupuncture]. Electroacupuncture was applied bilaterally to the Hegu(LI4), Daying(St5), and Jiache(St5) points of the patients in the EA group immediately before and after the flap surgery for 30 min at a frequency of 50 Hz to each point at a current that the patient could tolerate. the patients in the control group underwent flap surgery without applying electroacupuncture. Patients were asked to record their pain levels on the visual analog scale and the number of analgesic tablets they took during the 7 postoperative days on the given form. rESULtS: the total mean score of pain felt in the EA group(16.60 ± 2.78) was found to be significantly lower than that in the control group(31.37 ± 2.78)(P = 0.001). No significant difference was found between the groups regarding the amount of analgesics taken(4.77 ± 4.72, 5.82 ± 3.11)(P = 0.111). CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows that electroacupuncture application is beneficial in reducing pain after periodontal flap surgery. Overall, more research is needed to fully understand the effects of electroacupuncture on postoperative pain.

Amidst the ever-growing interest in high-mass-loading Li battery electrodes,a persistent challenge has been the insufficient continuity of their ion/electron conduction ***,we propose cellulose elementary fibrils(CEFs)as a class of deagglomerated binder for high-mass-loading *** from natural wood,CEF represents the most fundamental unit of cellulose with nanoscale *** preparation of the CEFs involves the modulation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding by the treatment with a proton acceptor and a hydrotropic *** elementary deagglomeration of the cellulose fibers increases surface area and anionic charge density,thus promoting uniform dispersion with carbon conductive additives and suppressing interfacial side reactions at ***,a homogeneous redox reaction is achieved throughout the *** resulting CEF-based cathode(overlithiated layered oxide(OLO)is chosen as a benchmark electrode active material)exhibits a high areal-mass-loading(50 mg cm^(-2),equivalent to an areal capacity of 12.5 mAh cm^(-2))and a high specific energy density(445.4 Wh kg–1)of a cell,which far exceeds those of previously reported OLO *** study highlights the viability of the deagglomerated binder in enabling sustainable high-mass-loading electrodes that are difficult to achieve with conventional synthetic polymer binders.

Given the limited availability of resources in nature,sexual attractiveness may trade off with immunocompetence,as the immunocompetence handicap hypothesis(ICHH)*** invertebrates,a direct link between trade-offs through hormonal/molecular effectors in sexual signals and immunity has not been found so ***,we assessed how variation in sexual signals affected parasite infection in two sex pheromone selected lines of the moth Chloridea virescens:an attractive line with a low ratio of 16:Ald/Z11-16:Ald and an unattractive line with a high *** infecting these lines with an apicomplexan parasite,we found that the attractive Low line was significantly more susceptible to the parasite infection than the unattractive High *** the ratio difference between these two lines is determined by a delta-11-desturase,we hypothesized that this desaturase may have a dual role,i.e.,in the quality of the sexual signal as well as an involvement in immune response,comparable to testosterone in ***,when we used CrISPr/cas9 to knockout delta-11-desturase in the attractive Low line,we found that the pheromonal phenotype did change to that of the High line,but the infection susceptibility did ***,when checking the genomic location of delta-11-desaturase in the ***,we found that mucin is adjacent to *** comparing the mucin sequences in both lines,we found four nonsynonymous SNPs in the coding sequence,as well as intronic variation between the two *** differences suggest that genetic hitchhiking may explain the variation in susceptibility to parasitic infection.
