Purpose: Conjunctival hyperemia has been reported as a frequent side effect of bimatoprost, a prostamide with efficacious ocular hypotensive action. Purpose: To relate a case of a branch retinal artery occlusion (BrAO) followed by SLP (Scanning Laser Polarimetry) and OCT (Optical Computadorized Tomography), Methods: A 21 year-old male with a BrAO was submitted to SLP and OCT on days 7, 30 and 60 after the occlusion. The emboli could be visualized by indirect fundoscopy and by ocular ultrassonography.

Purpose: Bimatoprost 0,03% is a prostamide with a good efficacy like an ocular hypotensive agent. A collateral effect observed using this drug is the presence of hyperemia around 30 to 40 % of the cases. In this study we analysed histopathologically conjunctival segments of patients with hyperemia during the use of bi-matoprost and submited to cataract surgery to evaluate the presence or not of acute inflammatory cells in these cases. This cross-sectional study evaluates the hypothesis that macular thickness and nerve fiber layer thickness correlate with the diagnosis of glaucoma It was used prototype optical coherence tomography unit to measure macular and nerve fiber layer thickness, and to analyze their correlation with glaucoma status. It was studied 367 subjects (534 eyes), including 166 eyes of 109 normals, 83 eyes of 58 glaucoma suspects, 196 eyes of 132.
