ract>We review the fossil history of seed plant genera that are now endemic to eastern Asia. Although the majority of eastern Asian endemic genera have no known fossil record at all, 54 genera, or about 9%, are reliably known from the fossil record. Most of these are woody (with two exceptions), and most are today either broadly East Asian, or more specifically confined to Sino-Japanese subcategory rather than being endemic to the Sino-Himalayan area. Of the "eastern Asian endemic" genera so far known from the fossil record, the majority formerly occurred in Europe and/or North America, indicating that eastern Asia served as a late Tertiary or Quaternary refugium for taxa. Hence, many of these genera may have originated in other parts of the Northern Hemisphere and expanded their ranges across continents and former sea barriers when tectonic and climatic conditions al- lowed, leading to their arrival in eastern Asia. Although clear evidence for paleoendemism is provided by the gymnosperms Amentotaxus, Cathaya, Cephalotaxus, Cunninghamia, Cryptomeria, Glyptostrobus, Ginkgo, Ketel-eeria, Metasequoia, Nothotsuga, Pseudolarix, Sciadopitys, and Taiwania, and the angiosperms Cercidiphyllum, Choerospondias, Corylopsis, Craigia, Cyclocarya, Davidia, Dipelta, Decaisnea, Diplopanax, Dipteronia, Em-menopterys, Eucommia, Euscaphis, Hemiptelea, Hovenia, Koelreuteria, Paulownia, Phellodendron, Platycarya, Pteroceltis, rehderodendron, Sargentodoxa, Schizophragma, Sinomenium, Tapiscia, Tetracentron, Toricellia, Trapella, and Trochodendron, we cannot rule out the possibility that neoendemism plays an important role especially for herbaceous taxa in the present-day flora of Asia, particularly in the Sino-Himalayan region. In addition to reviewing paleobotanical occurrences from the literature, we document newly recognized fossil occurrences that expand the geographic and stratigraphic ranges previously known for Dipelta, Pteroceltis, and Toricellia.

Anticancer activity of Mahonia leschenaultii methanolic root extract and berberine on Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma in mice

Objective: To evaluate the effects of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine of Mahonia leschenaultii on Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma in Swiss Albino mice. Methods: The methanol root extracts of Mahonia leschenaultii(200 and 400 mg/kg) were given orally, and berberines(10 and 20 mg/kg) were injected intra-peritoneally for 14 successive days in tumor bearing mice. Hematological parameters(white and red blood cells, haemoglobin level, granulocytes, and agranulocytes), lipid parameters(total cholesterol and triglycerides), serum enzymes(serum glutamate pyruvate transaminases, serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminases, and alkaline phosphatise) and mean survival and solid tumor growth were determined and compared with untreated mice. 5-fluorouracil(20 mg/kg) was used as a reference standard drug. results: Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine reduced the hematocrit significantly. Furthermore, Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine improved the survival of mice significantly and restored the affected hematological and lipid parameters similar to the normal levels. Conclusions: These observations show a strong anticancer effect of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine in suppressing Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma cancer cell growth in a mouse model by controlling haematological, lipid, serum enzymes, and other derived parameters effectively.

For nano-structured solids （those with one or more dimensions in the 1-100 nm range）, attempts of surface modification can pose significant and new challenges. In traditional materials, the surface coating could be several hundreds nanometers in thickness, or even microns and millimeters. In a nano-structured material, such as particle or nanofibers, the coating thickness has to be substantially smaller than the bulk dimensions （100 nm or less）, yet be durable and effective. In this paper, some aspects of effective nanometer scale coatings have been discussed. These films have been deposited by a non-line of sight （plasma） techniques; and therefore, they are capable of modifying nanofibers, near net shape cellular foams, and other high porosity materials. Two types of coatings will be focused upon：（a） those that make the surface inert and （b） those designed to enhance surface reactivity and bonding. The former has been achieved by forming 1-2 nm layer of --CF2- （and/or CF3） groups on the surface, and the latter by creating a nano- layer of SiO2-type compound. Nucleation and growth studies of the plasma-generated film indicate that they start forming as 2-3 nm high islands that grow laterally, and eventually completely cover the surface with 2-3 nm film. Contact angle measurements indicate that these nano-coatings are fully functional even before they have achieved complete coverage of 2-3 nm. They should therefore be applicable to nano-structural solids. This is corroborated by application of these films on vapor grown nanofibers of carbon, and on graphitic foams. Coated and uncoated materials are infiltrated with epoxy matrix to form composites and their microstructure, as well as mechanical behaviors are compared. The results show that the nano-oxide coating can significantly enhance bond formation between carbon and organic phases, thereby enhancing wettability, dispersion, and composite behavior. Background:Our recent study showed the efficacy and safety of vedolizumab in the treatment of chronic antibioticrefractory ***,there are no published studies on its efficacy and safety in Crohn’s disease(CD)of the *** aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of vedolizumab in those ***:This case series included all eligible patients with CD of the pouch from our prospectivelymaintained,IrB-approved Pouchitis registry from 2015 to *** activity in pouch patients can bemonitored using the modified Pouchitis Disease Activity Index(mPDAI).mPDAI is the 18-point pouchitis disease activity index consisting of three principal component scores:symptom(range,0–6 points),endoscopy,(range 0–6 points),and histology(range,2–6 points).Pre-and post-treatment(minimum 6 months)pouchoscopy and clinical visits were used to calculate ***:A total of 12 patients were included in this study,who had restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal anastomosis for medically refractory ulcerative colitis(UC).The mean age at the time of pre-colectomy diagnosis of UC was 25.0611.5 *** mean current age was 41.0612.1 years,nine(75.0%)were female,three(25.0%)had smoked and eight(66.7%)had used anti-tumor necrosis factor agents prior to vedolizumab *** mean duration of vedolizumab use was 1.066.4 *** was a significant reduction in mPDAI symptom subscores after vedolizumab therapy(3.5061.93 vs 5.0860.79,P=0.015).The pre-and post-treatment mean endoscopy subscores were 1.2561.36 and 0.9161.50 in the afferent limb(P=0.583);2.5861.68 and 2.2762.05(P=0.701)in the pouch body;and 2.6761.93 and 2.0962.12(P=0.511)in the cuff,*** of the patients experienced side effects throughout the vedolizumab ***:The findings of our study suggests that vedolizumab appears to be effective and safe in reducing the symptoms in patients with CD of the pouch.

Due to the enormous usage of the internet for transmission of data over a network,security and authenticity become major *** challenges encountered in biometric system are the misuse of enrolled biometric templates stored in database *** describe these issues various algorithms are implemented to deliver better protection to biometric traits such as physical(Face,fingerprint,Ear etc.)and behavioural(Gesture,Voice,tying etc.)by means of matching and verification *** this work,biometric security system with fuzzy extractor and convolutional neural networks using face attribute is proposed which provides different choices for supporting cryptographic processes to the confidential *** proposed system not only offers security but also enhances the system execution by discrepancy conservation of binary *** Face Attribute Convolutional Neural Network(FACNN)is used to generate binary codes from nodal points which act as a key to encrypt and decrypt the entire data for further *** Artificial Intelligence(AI)into the proposed system,automatically upgrades and replaces the previously stored biometric template after certain time period to reduce the risk of ageing difference while *** codes generated from face templates are used not only for cryptographic approach is also used for biometric process of enrolment and *** main face data sets are taken into the evaluation to attain system performance by improving the efficiency of matching performance to verify *** system enhances the system performance by 8%matching and verification and minimizes the False Acceptance rate(FAr),False rejection rate(Frr)and Equal Error rate(EEr)by 6 times and increases the data privacy through the biometric cryptosystem by 98.2%while compared to other work.

Ibandronate sodium monohydrate is a highly polar aliphatic compound that belongs to the bisphosphonate class,a widely used bone resorption *** aliphatic nature of ibandronate precludes direct photometric detection and its high polar-ity urged analysts to use ion-pairing agents in the mobile phase to promote retention in reversed-phase *** this work,a reversed-phase method for determination of ibandronate sodium monohydrate in pharmaceutical tablets is introduced by employing an online postcolumn ligand exchange reaction to enable photometric *** method offers for the first time the ability to separate the drug from its well-known impurities on conventional reversed-phase *** detection reac-tion depends on the ability of ibandronate and its degradation products to displace salicylate in the iron(III)salicylate complex,forming various colorless iron(III)complexes and showing a negative chromatographic signal for ibandronate and its degra-dants atλ_(max)=525 *** chromatographic separation was achieved using a Hypersil BDS C_(8) column(5μm particle size,150 mm×4.6 mm i.d.)and a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of aqueous formate buffer pH 3(pH 3,5 mM)and methanol in a ratio of 80:20%(v/v),delivered at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/*** postcolumn iron(III)salicylate reagent was prepared at 250μM in aqueous formate buffer,delivered using a syringe pump at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/*** proposed method was validated as per the guidelines of the International Conference on Harmonization Q2(r1)and was found linear over the range 40-120μg/mL(r=0.9995)with a limit of detection of 3.19μg/*** to currently reported methods,the proposed method is considerably simpler,faster,cheaper,and adequately sensitive and makes use of the most popular LC detectors.

Excavation is common in the construction of hydropower *** for both stable and unstable slopes is a pressing requirement during progressive excavations with or without cut-slope support *** present study is about an excavation carried out in a proposed concrete gravity dam site on the right bank slope of the Punatsangchhu river in western *** the excavation,the right bank abutment witnessed multiple events of slope failures of various *** major landslide occurred on 23 July 2013 in the toe of the right abutment,where foliation/multiple sheared/fractured zones/seams in quartz-feldspathic biotite gneiss dip towards the *** further excavations/piling works,a subsequent landslide on the downstream,within the body of the July 2013 landslide,occurred on 12 August *** a result,a real-time monitoring of the slope became necessary to facilitate further excavations for achieving the dam ***,the advanced slope monitoring instrument like Image By Interferometric Survey e Frequency Modulated(IBIS-FM)radar was deployed for monitoring the right bank slope during the excavation for the construction of~129 m high *** displacement of the hill slope is assessed based on this system by monitoring point locations as well as areas by assigning different threshold values for providing timely *** real-time monitoring was effective in identifying the reactivation of August 2016 landslide that occurred on 22 January ***,this study showcases the efficiency of IBIS-FM radar in monitoring slope instability with sub-millimeter accuracy on a near real-time basis.
