Computational simulations of near-continuum gas flow using Navier-stokes-Fourier equations with slip and jump conditions based on the modal discontinuous Galerkin method

Blunt-body configurations are the most common geometries adopted for non-lifting re-entry *** re-entry vehicles experience different flow regimes during flight due to drastic changes in atmospheric *** conventional Navier-stokes-Fourier equations with no-slip and no-jump boundary conditions may not provide accurate information regarding the aerothermodynamic properties of blunt-bodies in flow regimes away from the *** addition,direct simulation Monte Carlo method requires significant computational resources to analyze the near-continuum flow *** overcome these shortcomings,the Navier-stokes-Fourier equations with slip and jump conditions were numerically solved.A mixed-type modal discontinuous Galerkin method was employed to achieve the appropriate numerical *** computational simulations were conducted for different blunt-body configurations with varying freestream Mach and Knudsen *** results show that the drag coefficient decreases with an increased Mach number,while the heat flux coefficient *** the other hand,both the drag and heat flux coefficients increase with a larger Knudsen ***,for an Apollo-like blunt-body configuration,as the flow enters into non-continuum regimes,there are considerable losses in the lift-to-drag ratio and stability.

We investigated the role of metal atomization and solvent decomposition into reductive species and carbon clusters in the phase formation of transition-metal carbides(TMCs;namely,Co_(3)C,Fe_(3)C,TiC,and MoC)by pulsed laser ablation of Co,Fe,Ti,and Mo metals in *** interaction between carbon s-p-orbitals and metal d-orbitals causes a redistribution of valence structure through charge transfer,leading to the formation of surface defects as observed by X-ray photoelectron *** defects influence the evolved TMCs,making them effective for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions(HEr and OEr)in an alkaline ***_(3)C with more oxygen affinity promoted CoO(OH)intermediates,and the electrochemical surface oxidation to Co_(3)O_(4)was captured via in situ/operando electrochemical raman probes,increasing the number of active sites for OEr *** with more d-vacancies exhibits strong hydrogen binding,promoting HEr kinetics,whereas Fe_(3)C and TiC with more defect states to trap charge carriers may hinder both OEr and HEr *** results show that the assembled membrane-less electrolyzer with Co_(3)C∥Co_(3)C and MoC∥MoC electrodes requires~2.01 and 1.99 V,respectively,to deliver a 10 mA cm−2 with excellent electrochemical and structural *** addition,the ascertained pulsed laser synthesis mechanism and unit-cell packing relations will open up sustainable pathways for obtaining highly stable electrocatalysts for electrolyzers.

We consider Leray＇s problem on stationary Navier stokes flows with arbitrary large fluxes in an unbounded cylinder with several exits to infinity. For a stationary Navier stokes flow with large fluxes in the unbounded cylinder, we prove that, if the difference between the pressure of the main flow and the pressure of the Poiseuille flow with the same flux in a branch of the cylinder remains bounded at ｜x｜→∞, then the flow behaves at infinity of the branch like the Poiseuille flow.

In this study,comprehensive evaluation of the technologies on waste heat recovery technologies for maritime applications has been carried *** have focused our research on exhaust gas turbine system(EGT),thermodynamic organic rankine cycle(rC),Kalina cycle(KC)and thermoelectric generators(TG),which are the most appropriate and most up-to-date techniques for recovering power from marine *** technology has its own advantages and disadvantages,so the comprehensive evaluation of these technologies is essential to accurately determine which technology will be applied to which *** belongs to the multi-criteria decision(MCDM)*** combined assessment methodology,consisting of gray correlation and analysis hierarchy processes,has been applied to evaluate four waste heat recovery techniques in terms of technical,economic,social and environmental *** to the comparison results,the exhaust gas turbine system has been evaluated as the most promising technology among the various WHr technologies that can be applied to marine *** analysis suggests that if investment cost of TG falls to about the same level as the one of EGT,TG could be the best method among these *** of investment cost of TG technology could be realized by development of low cost thermoelectric *** have analyzed the correlation between each cost through DOE analysis and investigate the effect of individual costs on the total *** work helps in identifying the most suitable heat recovery technologies for marine engine.

Effect of DA-9701 on gastric emptying in a mouse model: Assessment by ^(13)C-octanoic acid breath test

AIM:To evaluate the effects of DA-9701 on the gastric emptying of a solid meal using the 13C-octanoic acid breath test in a mouse model. METHODs:Male C57BL/6 mice aged > 8 wk and with body weights of 20-25 g were used in this study. The solid test meal consisted of 200 mg of egg yolk labeled with 1.5 L/g 13C-octanoic acid. The mice were placed in a 130 mL chamber flushed with air at a flow speed of 200 mL/min. Breath samples were collected for 6 h. The half-emptying time and lag phase were calculated using a modified power exponential model. To assess the reproducibility of the 13C-octanoic acid breath test, the breath test was performed two times at intervals of one week in ten mice without drug treatment. To assess the gastrokinetic effects of DA-9701, the breath test was performed three times in another twelve mice, with a randomized crossover sequence of three drug treatments:DA-9701 3 mg/kg, erythromycin 6 mg/kg, or saline. Each breath test was performed at an interval of one week. rEsULTs:repeatedly measured half gastric emptying time of ten mice without drug treatment showed 0.856 of the intraclass correlation coefficient for the half gastric emptying time (P = 0.004). The mean cumulative excretion curve for the 13C-octanoic acid breath test showed accelerated gastric emptying after DA-9701 treatment compared with the saline control (P = 0.028). The median half gastric emptying time after the DA-9701 treatment was significantly shorter than after the saline treatment [122.4 min (109.0-137.9 min) vs 134.5 min (128.4-167.0 min), respectively; P = 0.028] and similar to that after the erythromycin treatment [123.3 min (112.9-138.2 min)]. The lag phase, which was defined as the period taken to empty 15% of a meal, was significantly shorter after the DA-9701 treatment than after the saline treatment [48.1 min (44.6-57.1 min) vs 52.6 min (49.45-57.4 min), respectively; P = 0.049].
