Considering the Fault Dependency Concept with Debugging Time Lag in Software reliability Growth Modeling Using a Power Function of Testing Time

Since the early 1970s tremendous growth has been seen in the research of software reliability growth modeling. In general, software reliability growth models （SrGMs） are applicable to the late stages of testing in software development and they can provide useful information about how to improve the reliability of software products. A number of SrGMs have been proposed in the literature to represent time-dependent fault identification / removal phenomenon; still new models are being proposed that could fit a greater number of reliability growth curves. Often, it is assumed that detected faults are immediately corrected when mathematical models are developed. This assumption may not be realistic in practice because the time to remove a detected fault depends on the complexity of the fault, the skill and experience of the personnel, the size of the debugging team, the technique, and so on. Thus, the detected fault need not be immediately removed, and it may lag the fault detection process by a delay effect factor. In this paper, we first review how different software reliability growth models have been developed, where fault detection process is dependent not only on the number of residual fault content but also on the testing time, and see how these models can be reinterpreted as the delayed fault detection model by using a delay effect factor. Based on the power function of the testing time concept, we propose four new SrGMs that assume the presence of two types of faults in the software： leading and dependent faults. Leading faults are those that can be removed upon a failure being observed. However, dependent faults are masked by leading faults and can only be removed after the corresponding leading fault has been removed with a debugging time lag. These models have been tested on real software error data to show its goodness of fit, predictive validity and applicability.

Understanding and control of wake vortices past a circular cylinder is a cardinal problem of interest to ocean *** wake formation and vortex shedding behind a variety of ocean structures such as spars,are subjected to fatigue failure limiting their life *** additional influences due to ocean waves and currents further exacerbate these *** the present study,flow past an isolated circu-lar cylindrical structure subjected to an oscillatory upstream are numerically *** studies involve high resolution simulations over the low reynolds number range(100-200).Although the prac-tical range of interest is in high reynolds number range of 103-105,the flow physics and a number of qualitative and quantitative aspects are similar to the low reynolds number *** the high reynolds number range,statistical averaging tools in conjunction with suitable closure models would be *** control of wake vortices is achieved with the aid of two small rotors located in the aft of the main cylinder.A control algorithm was coupled to determine the quantum of actuation to the rotating *** control of wake vortices was observed for harmonic in-let forcing,residual vortical structures were found to persist at higher amplitudes of *** study the efficacy of this control,numerical simulations were further extended,when the circular cylinder was flexibly *** con-trol of flow induced vibrations was observed to be reasonably effective in controlling the wake generated behind the main cylinder due to oscillatory upstream.

Effect of Hydrodynamic Conditions on Corrosion Inhibition of Cu-Ni(90/10)Alloy in Seawater and Sulphide Containing Seawater Using 1,2,3-Benzotriazole

Electrochemical studies of the effect of hydrodynamic conditions on corrosion inhibition of Cu-Ni （90/10） alloy in synthetic seawater and sulphide containing synthetic seawater by 1,2,3-benzotriazole （BTAH） are presented. Impedance, potentiodynamic polarization and cyclic voltammetric （Cv） studies are employed in the present investigation. The studies are carried out by using Cu-Ni （90/10） alloy rotating disc electrode at different rotation speeds and at different immersion periods. reynolds numbers at each rotation speed infer that the flow of seawater is laminar. With increasing rotation speed of the electrode immersed in seawater without sulphide and BTAH, both the charge transfer resistance （rot） and film resistance （rf^lm） are increased. However, in the presence of sulphide ions and without BTAH, both the rot and rf,m are found to decrease with increasing rotation speed at identical immersion periods. Interestingly, when BTAH is added to seawater or seawater containing sulphide, both the rot and rf,m are increased to such a great extent that an inhibition efficiency of 99.99% is obtained. In the presence of BTAH, the phase angle Bode plots are more broadened and the maximum values of phase angle are increased to a value close to 90~ as the rotation speed is increased. The BTAH film is highly protective even under hydrodynamic condition also. Potentiodynamic polarization studies infer that BTAH functions as a mixed inhibitor under hydrodynamic conditions also. Cv studies reveal that the protective BTAH film is stable even at anodic potentials of ＋850 mv vs Ag/AgCI.

Using different analytical techniques to study beach rocks of Tamilnadu,India

Beach rocks samples were collected from South East Coast of Tamilnadu, India. The mineralogical composition was determined using FT-Ir and XrD. The natural radioactive measurements to detect radioactive elements were determined by gamma ray spectrometer. The multi-element analyses were carried out by INAA (Instrumental neutron activation analysis), with the standard Estuarine Sediment as reference material. The geochemical behavior of elements in the region is discussed. The occurrence of the radioactive and non-radioactive elements is discussed for their geological significance. The results were used to assess environmental toxicity of heavy metals and radiation hazard in the study area.

Textural and depositional processes of surface sediments of Kalpakkam, Southeast Coast of India

To understand the influence of human dis- turbance on the sediment processes along Kalpakkam coast, India, beach and seabed sediments at 200 m, 500 m, and 1 km into the sea were collected monthly for one year and analyzed. Coarser material close to the tidal inlets （river） and manmade structures （sea wall） indicate the effect of these features in altering the grain size distribution from the general trend. The bivariant plots confirm the dominance of deposition under beach environment. The CM diagram （C-one percentile grain diameter, M - median） divulges that the deposition takes place by suspension and rolling of sediments with C 〈 1 mm. Linear discriminate function analysis for sediments at Kalpakkam indicates a shallow marine environment for all the samples collected. On the multigroup multivariant discriminant functions v1 -v2 diagram, the bulk of the samples from Kalpakkam to Mahabalipuram fall in the field of beach deposition. These results show that reworked sediments, submerged during the Holocene marine transgression are being deposited on present-day beaches by waves, currents and rivers in the study area. Though a high wave energy environment is prevailing in the study area, dominant northward sediment transport along the Kalpakkam-Mahabalipuram human interventions. Beach coast is not altered due to building activity in front of the sea wall ensures the safety of Indira gandhi Centre for Atomic research （IGCAr） from wave actions without causing any significant changes to the coastal environment.

removal of Chromium(III) from the Waste Solution of an Indian Tannery by Amberlite Ir 120 resin

The extraction of chromium(III) from a model waste solution and also from a waste solution of an Indian tannery with Amberlite Ir 120 resin is described, and the performance of this resin is compared with other similar resins. The parameters that were optimized include effect of mixing time, pH, loading and elution behaviours of chromium(III) for this resin. Sorption of chromium(III) on Amberlite Ir 120 followed Freundlich isotherm and Langmuir isotherm model, and the maximum sorption capacity was determined to be 142.86 mg Cr(III)/g of the resin. Higher Freundlich constant (Kf) values (6.30 and 13.46 for aqueous feed of 500 and 1000 ppm Cr(III)) indicated strong chemical interaction through ion exchange mechanism of the metal ion with the resin. The kinetic data showed good fit to the Lagergren first order model for extraction of chromium(III). Desorption of chromium(III) from the loaded resin increased with the increase in concentration of eluent (5-20% H2SO4). With 20% (v/v) sulphuric acid solution 94% chromium(III) was eluted in three stages. Elution of the Cr(III) in the column experiments was however, found to be lower (82%) than that of the shake flask data. In case of Indian tannery’s waste solution, it was observed that almost total chromium was extracted in four stages with Amberlite Ir 120.

Investigation of lnter and Intra-fractional Uncertainties in Lung IMrT Delivery

Changes in the tumour position due to inter and intra-fractional motion introduce uncertainty in IMrT delivery. In this work, we experimentally evaluated the effect of inter and intra-fractional motion uncertainties in the IMrT delivery. A lung patient was planned with rive field dynamic IMrT for a total dose of60 Gy in 30 fractions using 6 Mv photon beam at a dose rate of 400 MU/min. The plan was delivered on varian CL2100 CD linear accelerator with millennium 120 MLC for a single fraction and measured using IMrT Matri XX placed on Quasar motion platform, aligned with respect to isocentre for planar as well as point dose measurements. This measurement was summated for 30 fractions and taken as a reference. 30 measurements were performed for each inter-fractional, intra-fractional and combined effect. The setup errors(Mean+SD) used to simulate the inter-fractional displacements were rL:-0.10+0.27 mm, SI: 0.17+0.45 mm, AP:-0.04+0.38 mm and rot: 0.02+0.86 degree. The intra-fractional motion was simulated using the motion platform parallel to the MLC leaf motion, for an amplitude of 1 cm and a period of 4 s. The planner fluence of inter, intra-fractional motion and combination of both was analyzed against the reference using gamma criteria of 3%/3 mm. Similarly, the point dose measurements were also compared. The maximum deviation in point dose during a single fraction was-3.8%, 3.1% and-5.9% for inter-fractional, intra-fractional and combined respectively. The same resulted in deviation of-0.4%,-0.3% and 0.1% respectively when summated for 30 *** percentage of pixels failing the gamma criteria during a single fraction was28.0%, 16.4% and 28.5% for inter-fractional, intra-fractional and combined respectively. The same revealed 11.4%, 12.4% and 19.2% respectively when summated. Though the point dose deviations were nullified over 30 fractions, the planner fluence variation was observed to be considerable.

We show the results of first-principles calculations of structural,phonon,elastic,thermal and electronic properties of the Mg-X inter-metallics in their respective ground state phase and meta-stable phases at equilibrium geometry and the studied pressure *** dispersion spectra for these compounds were investigated by using the linear response *** phonon spectra do not show any abnormality in their respective ground state *** respective ground states phases of the studied system remain stable within the studied pressure *** and thermodynamic properties were derived by analysis of the electronic structures and quasi-harmonic *** mixed bonding character of the Mg-X intermetallics is revealed by Mg-X bonds,and it leads the metallic *** of the contribution originated from X ions d like states at Fermi level compared to that of Mg ion in these *** this work,we also predicted the melting temperature of these intermetallics and evaluated the Debye temperature by using elastic constants.
