Investigating the Evolution of Amati parameters with redshift

Gamma-ray bursts(GrBs) are among the brightest objects in the Universe and, hence, can be observed up to a very high redshift. properly calibrated empirical correlations between intensity and spectral correlations of GrBs can be used to estimate the cosmological parameters. However, the possibility of the evolution of GrBs with redshift is a long-standing puzzle. In this work, we used 162 long-duration GrBs to determine whether GrBs below and above a certain redshift have different properties. The GrBs are split into two groups, and we fit the Amati relation for each group separately. Our findings demonstrate that estimations of the Amati parameters for the two groups are substantially dissimilar. We perform simulations to investigate whether the selection effects could cause the difference. Our analysis shows that the differences may be either intrinsic or due to systematic errors in the data, and the selection effects are not their true origin. However, in-depth analysis with a new data set comprised of 119 long GrBs shows that intrinsic scatter may partly be responsible for such effects.

Concrete is the most widely utilized material for construction purposes,second only to water,in the ever-increasing need for construction *** is a brittle material and possesses a high risk of crack formation and consequent ***,which allows chemicals to enter and can cause concrete structures to lose their physico-mechanical and durability *** and rehabilitating concrete structures involves high costs and leads to various repair methods including coating,adhesives,polymers,supplementary cementitious materials(SCMs),and *** of the latest technologies is the use of microorganisms in *** added microorganisms lead to calcite precipitation and thereby heal the cracks *** study presents a comprehensive literature survey on bacteria-included concrete,before which a bibliographic survey is performed using VOSViewer *** addition to regular bacterial concrete,this study focuses on also using SCMs and fibers in bacterial concrete.A detailed literature review with data representation for various mechanical properties including compressive strength(CS),split tensile strength(SS),and flexure strength(FS),along with durability properties including carbonation,water absorption,resistance against chloride ion penetration,gas permeation,and resistance against cyclic freeze-and-thaw is presented.A study on the use of X-ray computed tomography(XCT)in bacterial concrete is highlighted,and the scope for future research,along with identification of the research gap,is presented.

prime editing(pE)technology enables precise alterations in the genetic code of a genome of *** offers great potential for identifying major agronomically important genes in plants and editing them into superior variants,ideally targeting multiple loci simultaneously to realize the collective effects of the ***,we report the development of a modular assembly-based multiplex pE system in rice and demon-strate its efficacy in editing up to four genes in a single transformation *** duplex pE(DpE)system achieved a co-editing efficiency of 46.1%in the T0 generation,converting TFIIAg5 to xa5 and xa23 to *** resulting double-mutant lines exhibited robust broad-spectrum resistance against multiple Xanthomonas oryzae pathovar oryzae(Xoo)strains in the T1 *** addition,we success-fully edited OsEpSpS1 to an herbicide-tolerant variant and OsSWEET11a to a Xoo-resistant allele,achieving a co-editing rate of 57.14%.Furthermore,with the quadruple pE(QpE)system,we edited four genes—two for herbicide tolerance(OsEpSpS1 and OsALS1)and two for Xoo resistance(TFIIAg5 and OsSWEET11a)—using one construct,with a co-editing efficiency of 43.5%for all four genes in the T0 *** performed multiplex pE usingfive more constructs,including two for triplex pE(TpE)and three for QpE,each targeting a different set of *** editing rates were dependent on the activity of pegrNA and/or *** instance,optimization of ngrNA increased the pE rates for one of the targets(OsSpL13)from 0%to 30%but did not improve editing at another target(OsGS2).Overall,our modular assembly-based system yielded high pE rates and streamlined the cloning of pE reagents,making it feasible for more labs to utilize pE for their editing *** have significant implications for advancing gene editing techniques in plants and may pave the way for future agricultural applications.

Surgical site infections(SSI)following total joint arthroplasty pose a significant concern for both providers and patients across the ***,administration of antimicrobial antibiotic prophylaxis is used throughout the world to reduce the incidence of ***,the correct dosage and frequency of administration remains *** this editorial,we emphasized the determination of the effect of administration of weight-adjusted antimicrobial antibiotic prophylaxis regime on the incidence of SSI and postoperative dosage reduction compared to the conventionally used regime during total joint *** results demonstrated similar efficacy between both regimes with respect to the incidence of *** addition,weight-adjustment led to reduced postoperative dosage and has the potential to reduce chances of achieving lower therapeutic concentration,drug resistance,drug toxicity,and costs.
