A recent case report provided a patient scenario,wherein,a 39-year-old male patient presented with occasional palpitations,headache,and *** of tumor markers did not show any abnormal ***,a computed tomography(CT)scan was undertaken,and its findings were affirmative of thymic ***,the postoperative histopathological assessment of the mass,after its resection,confirmed it as an anterior mediastinal multilocular thymic cyst(MTC),with concurrent acute upper respiratory tract infection and acute ***,this case report advocates the need for a preoperative histopathological examination with CT imaging to minimize the risk of confusing an MTC with a malignant thymic tumor.

Biochemical changes of Litopenaeus vannamei and Fenneropenaeus indicus in the different stages of WSSV infection

Objective:To find out the difference in the proximate composition and fatty acid profile of both the species of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei(***)and Fenneropenaeus indicus(***)infected with different stages of white spot syndrome virus(WSSV).Methods:Standard methods were followed by estimating the proximate composition and fatty acid *** fish specimens were beheaded,eviscerated and filleted *** tissue samples were oven dried at 67°C for 24 *** the samples were grounded finely with pestle and *** saponified samples were cooled at room temperature for 25 *** were acidified and methylated by adding 2 mL 54%6 mol/L HCL in 46%aqueous methanol and incubated at 80°C for 10 min in water *** the base wash step,the fatty acid methyl esters were cleaned in anhydrous sodium sulphate and then transferred into gas chromatograph sample vial for *** acid methyl esters were separated by gas ***:The proximate composition was higher in the both control tissue than the three(low,moderate,severe)infected *** *** and ***,the carbohydrates are 5.07%and 6.18%,and the proteins are 25.01%and 22.17%,*** level recorded was little higher in the shrimps maintained and showed severe sign of WSSV infection than the control and the fatty acid profile result revealed that saturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acid was in higher[48.72%(Severe)&16.87%(low)]*** the polyunsaturated fatty acid,*** was 40.47%(low).Conclusions:Our study showed that the healthy shrimps are nutritionally rich than the WSSV affected shrimps.

Boundary Layer Stagnation-Point Slip Flow and Heat Transfer towards a Shrinking/Stretching Cylinder over a Permeable Surface

In this paper, the boundary layer stagnation-point slip flow and heat transfer towards a shrinking/stretching cylinder over a permeable surface is considered. The governing equations are first transformed into a system of non-dimensional equations via the non-dimensional variables, and then into self-similar ordinary differential equations before they are solved numerically using the shooting method. Numerical results are obtained for the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number as well as the velocity and temperature profiles for some values of the governing parameters, namely the velocity slip parameter (α), the thermal slip parameter (β), the curvature parameter (γ) and the velocity ratio parameter (c/a). The physical quantities of interest are the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number measured by f’’(0) and –θ’(0), respectively. The numerical results show that the velocity slip parameter α increases the heat transfer rate at the surface, while the thermal slip parameter β decreases it. On the other hand, increasing the velocity slip parameter α causes the decrease in the flow velocity. Further, it is found that the solutions for a shrinking cylinder (c/ac/a>0) case. Finally, it is also found that the values of f’’(0) and –θ’(0) increase as the curvature parameter γ increases.

Polyethylene glycol fusion repair of severed sciatic nerves accelerates recovery of nociceptive sensory perceptions in male and female rats of different strains

Screening of Psychiatric Disorders among Hearing-Impaired Children and Adolescents Aged 4 - 16 Years Attending Special Education Institutions in Karachi

Aim: The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of psychiatric problems and to identify associated factors among hearing-impaired children and adolescents (aged 4 - 16 years) attending special education institutions in Karachi, Pakistan. Methods: A cross-sectional study, using stratified random sampling was conducted in two special education institutions in Karachi from September 2010 to July 2011 on 272 hearing-impaired children aged 4 - 16 years. Multi-informant rating (responding parent and teacher) was used to assess the prevalence of psychiatric problems on Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Kappa statistic was computed to assess agreement between parents/teachers ratings. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the factors associated with psychiatric problems of children. results: An overall parent-rated prevalence of psychiatric problems among hearing-impaired children was estimated as 18% and teacher-rated prevalence as 32.7%;poor inter-rater agreement was found between the two raters (Kappa statistic = 0.09). Multivariate model indicated protective effect of child’s age greater than 6 months at the time of diagnosis AOr: 0.49;95% CI (0.25, 0.96). Depression among responding parents AOr: 2.61;95% CI (1.34, 5.11) was identified as a risk factor. Children with good performance AOr: 3.09;95% CI (1.04, 9.25) and fair/poor performance AOr: 3.43;95% CI (1.17, 10.04) were more likely to have psychiatric problems compared to children with outstanding/excellent performance. Cronbach’s alpha of 0.71 on overall SDQ indicated an acceptable internal consistency. Conclusion: Awareness programs should be held for parents and teachers for better dealing with hearing-impaired children.

放射性污染日益严重,其中锶污染作为土壤典型污染之一成为研究热点。土壤中存在着一些矿化菌,能够对锶离子进行矿化固定。本实验对从土壤中分离的3株脱氮硫杆菌的特性及其对Sr^(2+)的矿化行为进行了研究,发现该菌对1.0g/L模拟Sr^(2+)污染的去除率可达80%。扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、能谱分析(EDS)、X射线衍射(XrD)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIr)等结果显示,矿化产物为硫酸锶。可见,利用脱氮硫杆菌治理土壤中Sr^(2+)污染具有可行性,该方法将会有一定应用前景。

Quantum States of Interacting Atoms in Quasi-One-Dimensional Ultracold Trapped Gases

We theoretically investigate the quantum states of a Hamiltonian model for quasi-one-dimensional ultracold trapped gases. From the ansatz given by the numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation of the system, we develop a scattering potential functional form and an approximate solution for the analytical approach of the model. We obtain the set of approximate eigenstates and eigenenergies that can be used in future improvements on the study of atomic scattering in low dimensional ultracold gases. We also show that there is a parity inversion of the ground state of the model as the interaction strength increases.

This research seeks to explore the current knowledge management （KM） practice in the Water recourses Management Company （WrMC） according to Jashpar＇s knowledge management cycle which comprises four loops, including knowledge creation, knowledge organization, knowledge sharing and knowledge leverage. This research used a qualitative method, and data were collected through questionnaires. The 92 respondents were the staff of office. The data were analyzed through SPSS software. The findings of this research reveal that, the knowledge creation and knowledge organization were in good level, but knowledge sharing condition was not suitable, therefore, it has negative effect on leveraging knowledge, hence we tried to demonstrate a knowledge management implementation model using the knowledge management concept and taking advantage from the concept of excellence model by the purpose of continuous improvement. This paper suggests proper knowledge management implementation （KMI） is a managerial approach that can turn an organization to an agile one. In order to verify and validate the performed research, the planned model has been accomplished in the Hydropower Plant Department, Water recourses Management Company, positive and acceptable results were obtained and organizations total factor productivity increase was achieved which was appreciated by the organization.

Symbiotic and Phenotypic Characteristics of rhizobia Nodulaing Cowpea （Vigna Unguiculata L. Walp） Grown in Arid region of Libya （Fezzan）

Symbiotic and phenotypic characteristics of thirty rhiobial isolates obtained from root nodules of two cowpea （Vigna unguiculata L. Walp） cultivars that grown in different sites of Fezzan （Southern part of Libya） were studied. Cultural characteristics and cross-nodulation with Arachis hypogega and Faidherbia albida showed that they were slow-growing rhizobia. Each isolate was found to coexist with non-symbiotic bacteria similar in their cultural characteristics to fast-growing rhizobia. All isolates formed symbiosis with the test plants, but different in their nitrogen-fixation efficiency. Numerical analysis of phenotypic characteristics showed that at boundary level of 70% average similarity, the isolates formed four distinguished groups and two isolates remained separate. Most isolates exhibited wide tolerance to acidity, alkalinity and extreme temperatures. They also resistant to some heavy metals such as mercury, copper, zinc, lead, cadmium and aluminum at low concentrations and antibiotics like polymyxin, colistin, bacitracin and nalidixic acid. Isolates displayed different response to salinity ranging from sensitive, which unable to grow in 1% NaCI to resistant and grow at 2% NaCl or above. Urea was hydrolyzed by most of them and carbohydrates utilizations were different. Sucrose and maltose were metabolized by most of the test isolates, whereas, monosaccharide and sugar alcohols were poorly utilized.
