modeling and predicting dengue fever cases in key regions of the Philippines using remote sensing data

Objective: To correlate climatic and environmental factors such as land surface temperature, rainfall, humidity and normalized difference vegetation index with the incidence of dengue to develop prediction models for the Philippines using remote-sensing ***: Timeseries analysis was performed using dengue cases in four regions of the Philippines and monthly climatic variables extracted from Global Satellite mapping of Precipitation for rainfall, and mODIS for the land surface temperature and normalized difference vegetation index from *** dataset during the period of study was utilized in Autoregressive Integrated moving Average models to predict dengue incidence in the four regions being ***: The best-fitting models were selected to characterize the relationship between dengue incidence and climate *** predicted cases of dengue for January to December 2015 period fitted well with the actual dengue cases of the same *** also showed significantly good linear regression with a square of correlation of 0.869 5 for the four regions ***: Climatic and environmental variables are positively associated with dengue incidence and suit best as predictor factors using Autoregressive Integrated moving Average *** finding could be a meaningful tool in developing an early warning model based on weather forecasts to deliver effective public health prevention and mitigation programs.

Parental imprinting is an epigenetic process leading to monoallelic expression of certain genes depending on their parental *** diseases are characterized by growth and metabolic issues starting from birth to *** are mainly due to methylation defects in imprinting control region that drive the abnormal expression of imprinted *** currently lack relevant animal or cellular models to unravel the pathophysiology of growth failure in these *** aimed to characterize the methylation of imprinting regions in dental pulp stem cells and during their differentiation in osteogenic cells(involved in growth regulation)to assess the interest of this cells in modeling imprinting *** collected dental pulp stem cells from five controls and four patients(three with Silver-russell syndrome and one with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome).methylation analysis of imprinting control regions involved in these syndromes showed a normal profile in controls and the imprinting defect in *** results were maintained in dental pulp stem cells cultured under osteogenic ***,we confirmed the same pattern in six other loci involved in imprinting diseases in *** also confirmed monoallelic expression of H19(an imprinted gene)in controls and its biallelic expression in one *** imprinting control regions methylation analysis shows the strong potential of dental pulp stem cells in modeling imprinting diseases,in which imprinting regions are preserved in culture and during osteogenic *** will allow to perform in vitro functional and therapeutic tests in cells derived from dental pulp stem cells and generate other cell-types.

Effect of self-weight consolidation on a hydro-sedimentological model for the río de la Plata estuary

The effect of the consolidation process on the morphodynamics and fine sediment dynamics of the río de la Plata estuary is explored through a circulation-wave-sediment transport model. The consolidation model is calibrated based on settling column experimental data. Different simulations are done in order to initialize the mud layer distribution and to investigate the impact of different erosion parameter assumptions on the modeled sediment dynamics. Finally a two-year simulation is done with and without the consolidation process and realistic hydrodynamic forcings. Considering the consolidation process, the model correctly reproduces measured vertical density profiles in the montevideo Bay access channel. The simulated suspended sediment dynamics behavior in montevideo Bay with the consolidation process provides a more realistic deposition pattern in regard to the dredging activities.

An Experimental Study of the Performance of Isomorphically Zirconium-Substituted mesoporous Alumina Supported Cobalt Catalysts in Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

A series of mesoporous alumina (mA) supported cobalt (Co/mA) catalysts with mA isomorphically substituted by zirconium (Zr) were synthesised and evaluated for their performance in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. The Zr/(Zr + Al) atomic ratios varied from 1% - 15%. A zirconium-impregnated Co/MA catalyst prepared by wet impregnation with a Zr/(Zr + Al) atomic ratio of 5% was also evaluated to examine Zr incorporation’s effect method. The catalysts synthesised were characterised using N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). It was found that Zr4+ ions were incorporated into the framework of MA and kept intact up to a Zr/(Zr + Al) atomic ratio of 5%. The cobalt dispersion and reducibility were improved as the Zr/(Zr + Al) atomic ratio increased to 50%. The performance of these catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was evaluated using a fixed bed reactor at temperature and pressure of 493 K and 20 bar, respectively. There is an accumulating body of evidence implicating the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor4(m4)in schizophrenia and dementia with Lewy bodies,however,a clinically validated m4positron emission tomography(PET)radioligand is currently *** such,the aim of this study was to develop a suitable m4PET ligand that allows the non-invasive visualization of m4in the ***-activity relationship studies of pyrazol-4-yl-pyridine derivates led to the discovery of target compound 12—a subtype-selective positive allosteric modulator(PAm).The radiofluorinated analogue,[18F]12,was synthesized in 28±10%radiochemical yield,>37 GBq/μmol and an excellent radiochemical purity>99%.Initial in vitro autoradiograms on rodent brain sections were performed in the absence of carbachol and showed moderate specificity as well as a low selectivity of[18F]12 for the m4-rich ***,in the presence of carbachol,a significant increase in tracer binding was observed in the rat striatum,which was reduced by>60%under blocking conditions,thus indicating that orthosteric ligand interaction is required for efficient binding o f[18F]12 to the allosteric ***,however,the presence of carbachol was not required for high specific binding in the non-human primate(NHP)and human striatum,and did not further improve the specificity and selectivity of[18F]12 in higher *** results pointed towards significant species-differences and paved the way for a preliminary PET study in NHP,where peak brain uptake of[18F]12 was found in the putamen and temporal *** conclusion,we report on the identification and preclinical development of the first radiofluorinated m4PET radioligand with promising *** availability of a clinically validated m4PET radioligand harbors potential to facilitate drug development and provide a useful diagnostic tool for non-invasive imaging.

A High-order Coupled Compact Integrated rBF Approximation Based Domain Decomposition Algorithm for Second-order Differential Problems

This paper presents a high-order coupled compact integrated rBF(CC IrBF)approximation based domain decomposition(DD)algorithm for the discretisation of second-order differential *** Schwarz DD algorithms,including one-level additive/multiplicative and two-level additive/multiplicative/hybrid,are *** CCIrBF based DD algorithms are analysed with different mesh sizes,numbers of subdomains and overlap sizes for Poisson *** convergence analysis shows that the CCIrBF two-level multiplicative version is the most effective algorithm among various schemes employed ***,the present CCIrBF two-level method converges quite rapidly even when the domain is divided into many subdomains,which shows great promise for either serial or parallel *** practical tests,we then incorporate the CCIrBF into serial and parallel two-level multiplicative *** numerical examples,including those governed by Poisson and Navier-Stokes equations are analysed to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the serial and parallel algorithms implemented with the *** results show:(i)the CCIrBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms have the capability to reach almost the same solution accuracy level of the CCIrBF-Single domain,which is ideal in terms of computational calculations;(ii)the CCIrBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms are highly accurate in comparison with standard finite difference,compact finite difference and some other schemes;(iii)the proposed CCIrBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms may be used as alternatives to solve large-size problems which the CCIrBF-Single domain may not be able to deal *** ability of producing stable and highly accurate results of the proposed serial and parallel schemes is believed to be the contribution of the coarse mesh of the two-level domain decomposition and the CCIrBF *** is noted that the focus of this paper is on the derivation of highly accurate serial and parallel algorithms

The effective detecting ONOO^(-)variations in vivo is of great importance to well understand the complex pathophysiological processes. We reported here a photoacoustic(PA) probe AZB-1 for imaging ONOO;in vivo. AZB-1 showed an originally strong photoacoustic signal at 660 nm. And its PA signal can be turned off by shutting the ICT effect caused by the conjugated electron withdrawing group at 2-position of the aza-BODIPY core. moreover, the probe was successfully employed to imaging ONOO^(-)variations in inflammatory mice models. Wisely utilized this strategy may serve as powerful platforms for the preparation of novel PA chemosensors.

Incorporation of hydroxyapatite in crosslinked gelatin/chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) hybrids utilizing as reinforced composite sponges, and their water absorption ability

The crosslinked gelatin/chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol)/hydroxyapatite(GEL/CTS/PVA/HAp, GCPH) sponges were fabricated by a freeze-drying method to yield the reinforced composite sponges with proper features. The porosity value and pore size of the crosslinked GCPH sponges reached ～80% and 50–100 μm, respectively, which can be an appropriate range to allow cells to migrate into the reinforced composite sponges in the tissue engineering technology. Besides, the proper bonding presence between HAp particles and the crosslinked polymeric matrix or the crosslinked network formation between the polymers were also proved through fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIr), X-ray diffraction(XrD) and thermal gravimetric(TG/DTG) analysis. Owing to incorporation of HAp particles and good distribution of HAp particles inside the crosslinked polymeric matrix, their mechanical properties were improved through the determination of compression tests. Concomitantly, their water absorption ability reached effectively in both the distilled water and Na Cl solution, and their recovery also maintained well for 10 absorbing–squeezing cycles to be considered as an effective reusability for the crosslinked sponge ***, the crosslinked GCPH sponge prepared in the present study can become a potential candidate to apply especially in the biomedical/medical applications and tissue engineering technology.
