An overview on antidiabetic medicinal plants having insulin mimetic property

Diabetes mellitus is one of the common metabolic disorders acquiring around 2.8%of the world's population and is anticipated to cross 5.4%by the year *** long back herbal medicines have been the highly esteemed source of medicine therefore,they have become a growing part of modern,high-tech *** view of the above aspects the present review provides profiles of plants(65 species) with hypoglycaemic properties,available through literature source from various database with proper categorization according to the parts used,mode of reduction in blood glucose(insulinomimetic or insulin secretagugues activity) and active phyloconsliluents having insulin mimetics *** the review it was suggested that,plant showing hypoglycemic potential mainly belongs to the family Leguminoseae,Lamiaceae,Liliaceae,Cucurbitaceae, Asteraceae,Moraceae,rosaceae and *** most active plants are Allium sativum. Gymnema sylvestre,Citrullus colocynthis,Trigonella foenum greacum,Momordica charantia and Ficuts *** review describes some new bioactive drugs and isolated compounds from plants such as roseoside,epigallocatechin gallate,beta-pyrazol-1-ylalanine,cinchonain Ib,leucocyandin 3-O-beta-d-galactosyl cellobioside,leucopelargonidin-3- O-alpha-L rhamuoside,glycyrrhetinic acid,dehydrotrametenolic acid,strictinin,isostrictinin,pedunculagin, epicatechin and christinin-A showing significant insulinomimetic and antidiabetic activity with more efficacy than conventional hypoglycaemic ***,from the review majorly,the antidiabetic activity of medicinal plants is attributed to the presence of polyphenols,flavonoida, terpenoids,coumarins and other constituents which show reduction in blood glucose *** review also discusses the management aspect of diabetes mellitus using these plants and their active principles.

The epigenetics of CHArGE syndrome

In biology, we continue to appreciate the fact that the DNA sequence alone falls short when attempting to explain the intricate inheritance patterns for complex traits. This is particularly true for human disorders that appear to have simple genetic causes. The study of epigenetics, and the increased access to the epigenetic profiles of different tissues has begun to shed light on the genetic complexity of many basic biological processes, both physiological and pathological. Epigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression that are not due to alterations in the DNA sequence. Various mechanisms of epigenetic regulation exist, including DNA methylation and histone modification. The identification, and increased understanding of key players and mechanisms of epigenetic regulation have begun to provide significant insight into the underlying origins of various human genetic disorders. One such disorder is CHArGE syndrome （OMIM #214800）, which is a leading cause of deaf-blindness worldwide. A majority of CHArGE syndrome cases are caused by haploinsufficiency for the CHD7 gene, which encodes an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling protein involved in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression. The CHD7 protein has been highly conserved throughout evolution, and research into the function of CHD7 homologs in multiple model systems has increased our understanding of this family of proteins, and epigenetic mechanisms in general. Here we provide a review of CHArGE syndrome, and discuss the epigenetic functions of CHD7 in humans and CHD7 homologs in model organisms.

Genetically engineered plants hold enormous promise for tackling global food security and agricultural sustainability ***,construction of plant-based genetic circuitry is constrained by a lack of well-characterized genetic parts and circuit design *** contrast,advances in bacterial synthetic biology have yielded a wealth of sensors,actuators,and other tools that can be used to build bacterial *** root-colonizing bacteria(rhizobacteria)exert substantial influence over plant health and growth,genetic circuit design in these microorganisms can be used to indirectly engineer plants and accelerate the design-build-test-learn ***,we outline genetic parts and best practices for designing rhizobacterial circuits,with an emphasis on sensors,actuators,and chassis species that can be used to monitor/control rhizosphere and plant processes.

Performance analysis of charge plasma based dual electrode tunnel FET

This paper proposes the charge plasma based dual electrode doping-less tunnel FET （DEDLTFET）. The paper compares the device performance of the conventional doping-less TFET （DLTFET） and doped TFET （DGTFET）. DEDLTEFT gives the superior results with high ON state current （/ON - 0.56 mA/um）, ION/IoFv ratio - 9.12 ×1013 and an average subthreshold swing （AV-SS -- 48 mV/dec）. The variation of different device parameters such as channel length, gate oxide material, gate oxide thickness, silicon thickness, gate work function and temperature variation are done and compared with DLTFET and DGTFET. Through the extensive analysis it is found that DEDLTFET shows the better performance than the other two devices, which gives the indication for an excellent future in low power applications.

Some ecophysiological characteristics of artà (Calligonum comosum L'Hérit) in response to drought stress

Water deficit is an important environmental factor restricting plant growth and photosynthesis. The effect of water deprivation on leaf water status, photosynthetic gas exchange, chlorophyll content and fluorescence parameters of arta （Calligonum comosum） was studied. Five-month-old arta seedlings, grown in pots in the open air, were subjected to one of four drought treatments （i.e., mild, moderate, severe and extreme drought stress） and compared to control seedlings （normal watering regime）. results show that leaf water potential, net photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, photosynthetic pigment content （chlorophyll a and b） decreased with increasing levels of drought stress. Inactivation of the photosynthetic apparatus was accompanied by changes in the fluorescence characteristics, providing evidence that reduction of photosynthetic rate could be attributed to non-stomatal limitations. Alterations imply changes in photochemical conversion efficiency of photosystem II by which plants could reduce water transpiration or protect their photosynthetic apparatus from destruction. These adaptations are discussed in relation to the strategies developed to grow drought-resistant arta seedlings in desert environments.

Using morphological analysis to tackle uncertainty at the design phase for a safety critical application

The gas turbine engine internal air system provides cooling and sealing air to a series of critical subsystems and components such as high pressure gas turbine blades,as well as controlling the thrust load on the turbine and compressor spool *** potential variations for the internal air system are possible,depending on the requirement,expertise and command of intellectual *** subsystems,such as rim seals,pre-swirl systems,and rotating cavities have been the subject of extensive development and analysis leading to robust design *** there remains scope for further consideration of the overall system design,and this paper explores the use of a decision analysis tool called morphological analysis applied to the internal air *** analysis provides an effective means for tackling issues where there is uncertainty,as is the case with many design scenarios,including the internal air system,with some specific parameters and information not available until later in the design phase,after the key geometry has been *** problem space comprising seven principal parameters,and a cross consistency matrix which allows identification of compatible and incompatible states are presented.

Life-insurance Efficiency in China:A Comparison of Foreign and Domestic Firms

The Chinese life-insurance industry has experienced major structural changes in recent years, primarily because of increasing demand and the entry of foreign insurers. Although the market is clearly booming, the efficiency of its growth and development is unclear. In this paper, we evaluate the efficiency of life insurers operating in China and compare foreign firms with domestic firms. We find that foreign insurers have not brought efficiency into the Chinese market, and that the market is still dominated by domestic giants. However, the gap between foreign insurers and domestic insurers is narrowing. After testing hypotheses regarding scale economy, technical progress andpotential improvements, we discuss several issues＇ of importance to life insurers, market investors and government regulators.

Improving urban visibility through fractal analysis of street edges： The case of John Evans Atta Mills Hish Street in Accra, Ghana

Streets are a representation of cities, and the image of a city is a reflection of its home country. Although attempts to ensure harmonious spatial and environmental development in Ghanaian settlements date back to the colonial era, these efforts have minimal physical manifestation in the urban fabric of the city of Accra. The Independence Arch of Ghana, an important landmark in the urban fabric and history of Accra, lacks the striking vista and approach it deserves. This paper introduces the use of fractal analysis of street edges to understand the characteristics of the John Evans Atta Mills （JEAM） High Street for developing recommendations to improve visibility along its stretch and the overall image of the city. The box-counting method with visual survey was used in research. The pertinent questions this paper seeks to address are as follows： What factors affect the visibility and imageability of JEAM High Street？ What design aspects should be considered to improve urban visibility along JEAM High Street？ What is the link of fractals to urban design and architecture？ The paper recommends various design considerations and qualities to improve the urban visibility and imageability of JEAM High Street.
