In this paper,a novel design of the flower pollination algorithm is presented for model identification problems in nonlinear active noise control *** recently introduced flower pollination based heuristics is implemented to minimize the mean squared error based merit/cost function representing the scenarios of active noise control system with linear/nonlinear and primary/secondary paths based on the sinusoidal signal,random and complex random signals as noise *** flower pollination heuristics based active noise controllers are formulated through exploitation of nonlinear filtering with Volterra *** comparative study on statistical observations in terms of accuracy,convergence and complexity measures demonstrates that the proposed meta-heuristic of flower pollination algorithm is reliable,accurate,stable as well as robust for active noise control *** accuracy of the proposed nature inspired computing of flower pollination is in good agreement with the state of the art counterpart solvers based on variants of genetic algorithms,particle swarm optimization,backtracking search optimization algorithm,fireworks optimization algorithm along with their memetic combination with local search ***,the central tendency and variation based statistical indices further validate the consistency and reliability of the proposed scheme mimic the mathematical model for the process of flower pollination systems.

Oxidative stress occurs when crop plants are exposed to extreme abiotic conditions that lead to the excessive production and accumulation of reactive oxygen species(rOS).Those extreme abiotic conditions or stresses include drought,high temperature,heavy metals,salinity,and ultraviolet radiation,and they cause yield and quality losses in *** are highly reactive species found in nature that can attack plant organelles,metabolites,and molecules by interrupting various metabolic pathways until cell death *** have evolved defense mechanisms for the production of antioxidants to detoxify the rOS and to protect the plant against oxidative *** researches in crop plants revealed that low levels of rOS act as a signal which induces tolerance to environmental extremes by altering the expression of defensive *** this review,we summarized the processes involved in rOS production in response to several types of abiotic stress in cotton ***,we discussed the achievements in the understanding and improving oxidative stress tolerance in cotton in recent *** related to plant oxidative stresses have shown excellent potential for the development of stress-tolerant crops.

Changes in cultivated land patterns and driving forces in the Three Gorges reservoir area, China, from 1992 to 2015

Changes of cultivated land patterns caused by major water conservation projects are rarely reported. We selected the Three Gorges reservoir area in China to study the change in area and landscape pattern of the cultivated land in the head,central, and tail areas of the reservoir that took place between 1992 and 2015;we then studied the spatial distribution of the cultivated land in the three parts of the reservoir;finally, we studied the driving forces behind the changes in the cultivated land. The results derived are as follows.(1) During the construction of the Three Gorges Project(TGP, 1992–2015), the area of cultivated land around the reservoir decreased by30.23 million ha. This reduction occurred in phases:the most severe change in cultivated land occurred during the later stage of the project(2002–2010);only 0.62 million ha of cultivated land did not change between 1992 and 2015.(2) Spatial pattern analysis showed that the cultivated land in the three parts of the reservoir changed from a northern distribution to a southern distribution;thus, the area of cultivated land in the north decreased over the time period. The area of cultivated land in the head and tail areas decreased by varying degrees, while it increased in the central area over the 23 years, indicating that the change in cultivated land showed regional differences.(3) The TGP, the policy of reverting farmland to forest,and urbanization were the main driving factors for the change of cultivated land, but there were differences in their impacts at different stages.(4) According to the patch dynamics of the land cover change, the degree of change gradually intensified during the early and later stages of the project and then stabilized during the operational period. Our research provides scientific support for the protection of cultivated land resources and food security in the reservoir area and for the coordination of social and economic development, which is of great significance to sustainable de

MHD Slip Flow past a Shrinking Sheet

An analysis is made for the steady two-dimensional laminar boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid near a stagnation point past a shrinking sheet with slip in the presence of a magnetic field. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations by taking suitable similarity variables and solved numerically by Shooting method. The effects of the various parameters such as velocity ratio parameter, slip parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number and magnetic parameter for velocity and temperature distributions have been discussed in detail through graphical representation.

BACkGrOUND Herbal supplements(HS)for weight loss are perceived to be“safe”and“natural”,as advertised in ads,however,hepatotoxicity can be associated with consumption of some *** of HS may be missed,as the patient may not report these unless specifically asked about these products,since they are often not thought of as medications with potential side effects or interaction *** SUMMArY We reported a case of a 21-year-old female with morbid obesity who presented with abdominal pain for 1 wk associated with nausea,vomiting,anorexia and *** denied smoking tobacco,drinking alcohol,usage of illicit drugs,hormonal contraceptives,or energy *** was no significant past medical or family *** laboratory workup revealed acute liver *** workup for possible etiologies of acute liver failure was *** was using a weight loss herbal supplement“Garcinia cambogia”for 4 *** case demonstrates the association of acute liver failure with Garcinia *** Medical reconciliation of HS should be performed in patients with suspected acute liver failure and early discontinuation of HS can prevent further progression of drug induced hepatoxicity.

Outcome of repair of chronic tear of the pectoralis major using corkscrew suture anchors by box suture sliding technique

AIM To assess the functional and clinical results of repair of chronic tears of pectoralis major using corkscrew and sliding suture technique. METHODS In this retrospective study, we reviewed the results of pectoralis major repair in 11 chronic cases(> 6 wk) done between September 2011 and December 2014 at our institute. In all cases repair was done by same surgeon using corkscrew suture anchors and box suture sliding technique. At 6 mo, after surgery magnetic resonance imaging was done to see the integrity of the repair. Functional evaluation was done using Penn and ASES scores. Pre and postoperative Isokinetic strength was *** Average follow-up was 48.27 ± 21.0 mo. The Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to evaluate the outcome scores. The average ASES score increased from an average of 54.63 ± 13.0 preoperatively to 95.09 ± 2.60 after surgery at their last follow-up. The average Penn score also increased from 5.72 ± 0.78, 2.81 ± 1.32 and 45.81 ± 1.72 to 9.36 ± 0.80, 8.27 ± 0.90 and 59 ± 1.34 for pain, satisfaction and function respectively. Follow up magnetic resonance imaging(MrI)(at 6 mo) showed continuity and the bulk of pectoralis major muscle in all cases. Average isokinetic strength deficiency in horizontal adduction at 60° was 13.63% ± 6.93% and at 120° was 10.18% ± 4.93% and in flexion at 60° was 10.72% ± 5.08% and at 120° was 6.63% + 3.74%. results showed that both ASES and Penn score improved significantly(2 tailed P value = 0.0036).CONCLUSION We could conclude from this series that pectoralis major repair even in chronic cases using 5.5 mm corkscrew anchors give excellent functional and cosmetic results. In chronic cases the repairable length of the tendon is not available and sliding suture technique allows for fixation of worn out tendomuscular junction to bone without letting cutting through the muscle.

Unsteady Magnetohydrodynamic Boundary Layer Flow near the Stagnation Point towards a Shrinking Surface

The unsteady two-dimensional, laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid towards a shrinking surface in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field is studied. Taking suitable similarity variables, the governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations and solved numerically by a perturbation technique for a small magnetic parameter. The effects of various parameters such as unsteadiness parameter, velocity parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number for velocity and temperature distributions along with local Skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number have been discussed in detail through numerical and graphical representations.

Lead Iodide Crystals as Input Material for radiation Detectors

Lead iodide is an important inorganic solid for fundamental research and possible technological applications and is considered to be a potential room temperature nuclear radiation detector. In lead iodide the phenomenon of polytypism is posing an interesting problem of phase transformations amongst its various polytypic modifications. The transformations have also been observed even when the crystals are stored for few months. It causes deterioration in functioning of PbI2 devices. Taking into account the known structures of PbI2 and the data available on the mode of growth and storage of crystals, it has been concluded that purified melt grown crystals of PbI2 are the best suited for nuclear radiation detectors.
