Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide blended in polyurethane acrylate photocurable solid polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries

The increased demand of electronic devices promotes the development of advanced and more efficient energy storage devices, such as batteries. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are the most studied battery systems due to their high performance. Among the different battery components, the separator allows the control of lithium ion diffusion between the electrodes. To overcome some drawbacks of liquid electrolytes, including safety and environmental issues, solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are being developed. In this work, a UV photocurable polyurethane acrylate (PUA) resin has been blended with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI) up to 30 wt% LiTFSI content to reach a maximum ionic conductivity of 0.0032 mS/cm at room temperature and 0.09 mS/cm at 100 ℃. Those values allowed applying the developed materials as photocurable SPE in Swagelok type Li/C-LiFePO_(4) half-cells, reaching a battery discharge capacity value of 139 mAh.g^(−1) at C/30 rate. Those results, together with the theoretical studies of the discharge capacity at different C-rates and temperatures for batteries with LiTFSI/PUA SPE demonstrate the suitability of the developed photocurable SPE for LIB applications.

Chen et al explored clinicopathological features and prognostic factors,revealing advanced tumor stage,lung metastases,HEr-2 overexpression,and triple-negative status as key contributors.recent research connects astrocytes'role in brain metastasis with signaling pathways and the impact of Trastuzumab on HEr-2 tumor survival.Factors such as positive HEr2 status,lack of estrogen receptor expression,and liver metastasis are identified as additional risk factors.The routine use of magnetic resonance imaging,insights into gene mutations associated with metastasis,and the role of radiotherapy,including prophylaxis possibilities,is controversial in clinical practice.Understanding these risk factors in a multidisciplinary collaboration is precise for local treatments and targeted therapies,particularly for HEr2+tumors,impacting directly on longer survival.

TasselGAN:An Application of the Generative Adversarial Model for Creating Field-Based Maize Tassel Data

Machine learning-based plant phenotyping systems have enabled high-throughput,non-destructive measurements of plant traits.Tasks such as object detection,segmentation,and localization of plant traits in images taken in field conditions need the machine learning models to be developed on training datasets that contain plant traits amidst varying backgrounds and environmental conditions.However,the datasets available for phenotyping are typically limited in variety and mostly consist of lab-based images in controlled conditions.Here,we present a new method called TasselGAN,using a variant of a deep convolutional generative adversarial network,to synthetically generate images of maize tassels against sky backgrounds.Both foreground tassel images and background sky images are generated separately and merged together to form artificial field-based maize tassel data to aid the training of machine learning models,where there is a paucity of field-based data.The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using quantitative and perceptual qualitative experiments.

Ileal-anal pouches: A review of its history, indications, and complications

The ileal pouch anal anastomosis(IPAA)has revolutionised the surgical management of ulcerative colitis(UC)and familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP).Despite refinement in surgical technique(s)and patient selection,IPAA can be associated with significant morbidity.As the IPAA celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018,this review provides a timely outline of its history,indications,and complications.IPAA has undergone significant modification since 1978.For both UC and FAP,IPAA surgery aims to definitively cure disease and prevent malignant degeneration,while providing adequate continence and avoiding a permanent stoma.The majority of patients experience long-term success,but“early”and“late”complications are recognised.Pelvic sepsis is a common early complication with far-reaching consequences of long-term pouch dysfunction,but prompt intervention(either radiological or surgical)reduces the risk of pouch failure.Even in the absence of sepsis,pouch dysfunction is a longterm complication that may have a myriad of causes.Pouchitis is a common cause that remains incompletely understood and difficult to manage at times.10%of patients succumb to the diagnosis of pouch failure,which is traditionally associated with the need for pouch excision.This review provides a timely outline of the history,indications,and complications associated with IPAA.Patient selection remains key,and contraindications exist for this surgery.A structured management plan is vital to the successful management of complications following pouch surgery.

The next generation of high-power lasers enables repetition of experiments at orders of magnitude higher frequency than what was possible using the prior generation.Facilities requiring human intervention between laser repetitions need to adapt in order to keep pace with the new laser technology.A distributed networked control system can enable laboratory-wide automation and feedback control loops.These higher-repetition-rate experiments will create enormous quantities of data.A consistent approach to managing data can increase data accessibility,reduce repetitive data-software development and mitigate poorly organized metadata.An opportunity arises to share knowledge of improvements to control and data infrastructure currently being undertaken.We compare platforms and approaches to state-of-the-art control systems and data management at high-power laser facilities,and we illustrate these topics with case studies from our community.

Observation of optical transition radiation from electron beams generated by laser plasma accelerator

Laser plasma accelerators （LPAs） have made great progress, achieving electron beam with energy up to 1 GeV from a centimeter scale capillary plasma waveguide. Here, we report the measurement of optical transition radiation （OTr） from the capillary-based LPA electron beams. Transition radiation images, produced by electrons passing through two separate foils （located at 2.3 m and 3.8 m away from the exit of the LPA） were recorded with a high resolution imaging system, respectively. Two magnetic quadrupole lenses were placed right after the capillary to focus and collimate the electron beams. Significant localized spikes appeared in the OTr images when the electron beam was focused by the magnetic quadrupole lenses, indicating the coherence of the radiation and the existence of ultrashort longitudinal structures inside the electron beam.

Hydralazine Hydrochloride:An Alternative Complexometric reagent for Total Iron Spotometric Determination

An alternative spectrophotometric method has been developed for total iron determination using flow injection analysis (FIA). The procedure is based on the coordination reaction between hydralazine and Fe2+ ions, which results in the formation of a purple complex monitored at 538 nm. For determination of total iron, Fe3+ ions were reduced using ascorbic acid. Under optimized conditions, a linear calibration graph (0.1 - 6.0 ?g?ml–1;n = 6) was obtained. The method allows LOD (3? of blank/slope = 0.06 ?g?ml–1) and LOQ (10? of blank/slope = 0.22 ?g?ml–1). The rSD ((s/ ) × 100) for a mixed standard containing 0.60 ?g?ml–1 Fe2+ and Fe3+ was 0.10% (n = 10). recoveries of spiked samples were 94.3% - 106.0%. The analytical frequency was 60 h–1. The effect of possible interferences has been studied. The procedure was successfully applied for analysis of environmental samples. The real samples results were comparable with those obtained by the official method considering a paired t-test and 95% of confidence level.

High-power non-perturbative laser delivery diagnostics at the final focus of 100-TW-class laser pulses

Controlling the delivery of multi-terawatt and petawatt laser pulses to final focus,both in position and angle,is critical to many laser applications such as optical guiding,laser–plasma acceleration,and laser-produced secondary radiation.We present an online,non-destructive laser diagnostic,capable of measuring the transverse position and pointing angle at focus.The diagnostic is based on a unique double-surface-coated wedged-mirror design for the final steering optic in the laser line,producing a witness beam highly correlated with the main beam.By propagating low-power kilohertz pulses to focus,we observed spectra of focus position and pointing angle fluctuations dominated by frequencies below 70 Hz.The setup was also used to characterize the excellent position and pointing angle correlation of the 1 Hz high-power laser pulses to this low-power kilohertz pulse train,opening a promising path to fast non-perturbative feedback concepts even on few-hertz-class high-power laser systems.
