Background The quality of cotton fiber determines its value in the textile market,influencing agricultural profitability and the efficiency of textile *** selection of genotypes with superior fibers is a key factor for genetic improvement programs seeking adaptability and sustainability in the face of climate *** demonstrates the strategic importance of this plant for sustainable agriculture and the global textile *** objective of this research was to decipher the fiber quality of Gossypium barbadense *** in the native Amazonian communities of La Convención,Cusco-Perú,and to evaluate other critical aspects of native cotton that have not yet been *** methodology included non-probability sampling for accessibility,qualitative and quantitative analyses,and multivariate *** fiber length(mm),micronaire index(maturity/fineness),fiber strength(gf/tex),length uniformity index(%),fiber elongation(%),maturation index(%),and short fiber index(%)were the fiber characteristics evaluated using the HVI method in cotton *** Cotton accessions collected from Koribeni(Gossypium spp.)and Shivankoreni(Gossypium barbadense ***)stood out for their fiber quality properties,especially length,strength,and uniformity,which highlights their relevance for advanced textile applications and potential for use in plant genetic improvement *** These findings reinforce the need to conserve and study these native cotton accessions from the Peruvian Amazon region,which can offer promising perspectives for the textile industry and agricultural biodiversity.

Background:repaired Tetralogy of fallot(rTOf)patients may have residual lesions such as main(MPA)and branch pulmonary artery stenosis(BPAS).While MPA stenosis is well studied,few data are available on BPAS in *** aimed to describe pulmonary perfusion in a large paediatric cohort of rTOf and its impact on right ventricular and outflow-tract hemodynamics using 4D flow ***:130 consecutive patients(mean age at CMr 14.3±4.6 years)were retrospectively reviewed.96 patients had transannular patch without valve preservation while 34 patients had conserved annulus or valved conduit.A pulmonary blood flow ratio(right pulmonary artery(rPA)/left pulmonary artery(LPA))between 0.75 and 1.56 was considered ***:Asymmetric pulmonary perfusion was present in 59/130 patients(45%),with 54/59(91%)having left lung hypoperfusion(blood flow ratio>1.56).rPA/LPA perfusion ratio in the whole cohort was independently associated with the LPA Z-score(−0.053,p=0.007),the rPA regurgitant fraction(rf)(0.013,p=0.011)and previous LPA stenting(0.648,p=0.004).Decreasing LPA%perfusion(and conversely increasing rPA%perfusion)was significantly associated with higher MPA diameter Z-score(−0.06,p=0.007).On multivariate analysis,MPA Z-score was independently associated with pulmonary rf(0.48,pright ventricular indexed volumes(coefficient 3.6,p=0.023).In patients with transannular patch repair,asymmetric pulmonary flow was an independent predictor of right ventricular ejection fraction(rVEf)(−3.66,p=0.04).Conclusions:Pulmonary perfusion asymmetry is frequent in rTOf and is associated with abnormal right ventricular and outflow-tract hemodynamics,including MPA dilatation and decreased rVEf in patients after transannular patch.

Turkey wattle is a by-product generated during slaughter,which has a large amount of connective tissue and is a potential source of glycosaminoglycans(GAGs).This study aimed to extract GAGs from the turkey wattle(Meleagris gallopavos)and investigate its anticoagulant activity,and its cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity in tumor *** sulfate(CS-4 and CS-6)and dermatan sulfate(DS)present in the f-VII fraction and hyaluronic acid(HA)in the f-V fraction were *** HA showed a high molecular weight(1.0×10^(6) Da)and an apparent cytotoxic/antiproliferative effect against human hepatoma cells.f-VII fraction has an apparent cytotoxic/antiproliferative effect against renal adenoma cells and anticoagulant potential in *** results achieved in this study demonstrated that wattle,a by-product of turkey industrialization,has the potential to be valued as a raw material for the extraction of GAGs with bioactive properties.

There has been a growing interest in disordered optical media in recent years due to their potential applications in solar collectors, random lasers, light confinement, and other advanced photonic functions. This paper studies the transport of light for different incidence angles in a strongly disordered optical medium composed of core-shell TiO_2@Silica nanoparticles suspended in an ethanol solution. A decrease of optical conductance and an increase of absorption near the input border are reported when the incidence angle increases. The specular reflection, measured for the photons that enter the sample, is lower than the effective internal reflection undergone by the coherently backscattered photons in the exact opposite direction, indicating a nonreciprocal propagation of *** study represents a novel approach in order to understand the complex physics involved at the phase transition to localization.

Objective： Probe-based confoeal laser endomicroscopy （pCLE） technique may improve the diagnosis of gastric mucosal lesions allowing acquisition of high-resolution in vivo images at the cellular and mierovaseular levels. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of pCLE for the differential diagnosis of non-neoplastic and neoplastic gastric ***： Twenty gastric mucosal lesions from 10 patients were evaluated during endoscopic procedure and were examined by pCLE. Diagnostic pCLE was followed by biopsies or endoscopic resection of suspected lesions. A senior pathologist evaluated the specimens and was blinded to the pCLE ***： Patients＇ mean age was 68.3 （range, 42-83） years and six were men. Thirteen suspicious flat or elevated lesions （classified as 0-Is, 0-IIa or 0-IIa ＋ IIc） and seven pre-malignant lesions （atrophy and intestinal metaplasia） were evaluated. One patient was studied during his long-term follow-up after partial gastrectomy and presented severe atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, and xanthomas at the stump mucosa. The location of gastric lesions was in the body （n=10 lesions）, the antrum （n=9） and the incisura angularis （n=1）. All neoplastic lesions and all but one benign lesion were properly diagnosed by pCLE. pCLE incorrectly diagnosed one small antrum lesion as adenoma, however the final diagnosis was intestinal metaplasia. The final histological diagnosis was neoplastic in 9 and benign lesions in 11. In this small case series, pCLE accuracy was 95% （19/20 lesions）.Conclusions： pCLE is accurate for real time histology of gastric lesions, pCLE may change the management of patients with gastric mucosal lesions, guiding biopsies and endoscopic resection, and avoiding further diagnostic workup or unnecessary therapy.

Intellectual Capacity of Children Exposed to Environmental Pollution in the Extreme South of Brazil

Objective： The study evaluated the intellectual capacity of children who live in areas that were E （exposed） or NE （not exposed） to environmental pollution. Method： 246 students between the ages of 8 and 11 years and 8 months were evaluated. Data were collected between May and June 2010 using a semi-structured questionnaire to examine factors that were related to compromised intellectual capacity. Intellectual capacity was evaluated with raven＇s Colored Progressive Matrices Scale. The intellectual capacity of children who live in areas that were exposed or not exposed was compared using chi-squared tests and raw and adjusted analyses were conducted using Poisson regression. results： The general occurrence of intellectual impairment was 28.9%, with 22.0% in the non-exposed area and 36.1% in the exposed area （p = 0.01）. The outcome was associated with the following： a lack of companionship （rP = 2.77; p 〈 0.00）, maternal education of less than five years （rP = 2.13; p 〈 0.00）, the mother not being Caucasian （rP = 1.57;p 〈 0.00）, residing in an exposed area （rP = 1.88;p 〈 0.00）, and nutritional risk/malnutrition （rP = 2.83; p 〈 0.00）. Conclusions： The results showed a high occurrence of intellectual impairment and a significant difference between the environmental areas. Additional research is needed to improve the understanding of several results. The town＇s priorities should include efforts related to environmental health.

The indiscriminate release of effluents without any type of treatment,or previous treatment without adequate disinfection,can cause several inconveniences for the water body and society,including water-borne *** the present study,the physicochemical and biological aspects of three WWTPs(Wastewater Treatment Plants)operated with UASB(Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket)technology in Juazeiro do Norte were analyzed in order to verify the state of CearáState legislation,compliance with standards for the release of domestic effluents into bodies’*** the research,it verified that the stations did not meet the effluent release standards for TSS(Total Suspended Solids)and removal of Escherichia coli in several analyzed *** also verified that the UASB stations need a post-treatment in order to assist in the process of removal of organic matter and pathogens.
