Melting of hydrous pyroxenites with alkali amphiboles in the continental mantle:*** relations and major element compositions of melts

Melting experiments on ultramafic rocks rich in the hydrous minerals phlogopite or phlogopite+K-rich terite,some including 5%of accessory phases,have been conducted at 15 and 50 *** assemblages represent probable source components that contribute to melts in cratonic regions,but whose melt compositions are poorly known.A main series of starting compositions based on MArID xenoliths consisted of a third each of clinopyroxene(CPX),phlogopite(PHL)and K-richterite(Kr)with or without 5%ilmenite,rutile or *** experiments were run without Kr and with higher proportions of accessory *** traps were used at near-solidus temperatures to facilitate accurate analysis of wellquenched melts,for which reversal experiments demonstrate *** show that Kr melts rapidly and completely within 50°C of the solidus,so that melts reflect the composition of the amphibole and its melting *** have high SiO_(2) and especially K_(2)O but low CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) relative to basaltic melts produced from peridotites at similar *** have no counterparts amongst natural rocks,but most closely resemble leucite lamproites at 15 *** and PHL melt incongruently to form olivine(OL)and CPX at 15 kbar,promoting SiO2 contents of the melt,whereas orthopyroxene OPX is increasingly stable at lower lithosphere pressures,leading to an increase in Mg O and decrease in SiO_(2) in melts,which resemble olivine *** of mica pyroxenites without Kr are richer in CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) and do not resemble *** experiments show that low CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) in igneous rocks is not necessarily a sign of a depleted peridotite *** phases produce melts exceptionally rich in P_(2)O_(5) or TiO_(2) depending on the phases present and are unlike any melts seen at the Earth’s surface,but may be important agents of metasomatism seen in *** addition of the 5%accessory phases ilmenite,rutile or apatite result in melting temper

This paper develops a simple structural model of alternative modes of governance of transactions to formalize some distinguishing aspects of the transaction cost *** is shown that each mode of governance is associated with a different degree of incentive intensity,which in turn is attributable to the difference in court access and in the control of *** the model is very simple and stylized with quite intuitive results,it does yield some interesting implications that are not readily clear from reduced-form models.

routh stability test is covered in almost all undergraduate control texts. It determines the stability or, a little beyond, the number of unstable roots of a polynomial in terms of the signs of certain entries of the routh table constructed from the coefficients of the polynomial. The use of the routh table, as far as the common textbooks show, is only limited to this function. We will show that the routh table can actually be used to construct an orthonormal basis in the space of strictly proper rational functions with a common stable denominator. This orthonormal basis can then be used for many other purposes, including the computation of the H2 norm, the Hankel singular values and singular vectors, model reduction, H∞ optimization, etc. Keywords routh stablity criterion - Orthonormal basis - root-mean-squared value - Hankel operater - nehari problem - Model reduction This work was supported by the Hong Kong research Grants Council.

An exfoliated blend of nanoclay in a main chain thermotropic copolyester(TLCP) with flexible spacers is *** nanoclays used in this study were organo-clays with lateral dimensions of 15-25 *** TLCP used in this study was a copolyester of hydroxybenzoic acid(HBA),hydroquinone(HQ) and sebacic acid(SA),HBA/HQ/*** combined wide angle x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis show that the nanoclay particles were uniformly dispersed inside the TLCP matrix in a fully exfoliated state.

In this paper,a Joint Early Detection and Early Stopping (JEDES) approach for effectively reducing the complexity of turbo decoding with negligible performance loss is proposed. It combines the effectiveness of both early detection and early stopping techniques. Our simulation results demon-strated that the proposed JEDES scheme based on cyclic redundancy check and trellis splicing can achieve a complexity saving of 15% to 20% at practical bit error rates over the idealized GEnIE stopping scheme,which is widely accepted as the theoretically best possible early stopping scheme.

ALUMINOSILICATE BINDERS SYNTHESIZED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE

Aluminosilicate binders synthesized from different kaolin, metakaolin,and ground granulated blast furnace slag at room temperature were investigated. The results showed that aluminosilicate binder could develop high early strength at room temperature. The compressive strength of the binder made from metakaolin was much higher than that from kaolin. Phase composition and microstructure of the binder were studied by X-ray diffraction (XrD), FTIr and TG-DTA. The XrD results show that the hydration products were mainly amorphous and the FTIr indicated the polymerization reaction did occur during hydration process.

The presentation reports phase field simulations of ferreoelectric ceramics by using the time dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation and taking multiply-dipole-dipole-electric and-elastic interactions into *** have simulated the polarization switching,the effect of mechanical constraints,the size-dependent material properties,*** temporal evolution of the polarization switching shows that the switching is a process of nucleation and growth of energy-favorite *** simulation results successfully reveal the hysteresis loop of macroscopic polarization versus the applied electric field,the butterfly curve of macroscopic strain versus the applied electric field,and the macroscopically nonlinear strain response to applied compressive *** results show that the paraelectric/ferroelectric phase transition temperature linearly increases with the applied mechanical strain under mechanical clamping *** to the classical Ehrenfest equation,a thermodynamics equation is derived to describe the relationship between the transition temperature and the applied *** change in the domain structure with temperature under applied inequiaxial strains is different from that under applied equiaxial ***"misfit strain-misfit strain"and"temperature-misfit strain"phase diagrams for single-domain BaTiO and PbTiO thin films grown on tetragonal substrates are developed by minimizing the Helmholtz free *** non-equally biaxial misfit strains lead to the presence of two in-plane tetragonal ferreoelectric phases in both BaTiO and PbTiO thin films,which do not exist if the misfit strains are equally *** domain configurations and the two critical thicknesses of forreelectric islands,at which the material change from a multi-domain to a single-domain state and from ferroelectric phase to paraelectric phase,respectively,are dependent on the thickness-to-width ratio of *** ferroelectric nanoparticles,the phase field simulations exhi
