A synchrotron radiation source called TUrKAY is proposed as a sub-project of the Turkish Accelerator Center Project. The storage ring of TUrKAY is a low emittance synchrotron and the radiation ranges between 0.01 and 60 keV can be generated from the insertion devices and bending magnets placed on it. The injector system of the facility will mainly consist of a 150 MeV linac and full energy booster. In this study, we present design considerations and beam dynamics studies of the pre-injector linac and booster ring for TUrKAY.

In the coming years life expectancy is expected to increase and with this the percentage of the population above age 65 will grow. Patients above 65 make up more than two thirds of those currently diagnosed with gastrointestinal malignancies. Available evidence based medicine does not focus on the average patient, above the age 70, encountered in every day practice. Most guidelines and clinical trials are not designed to take into account the special considerations needed when treating the elderly such as functional status, comorbidities, polypharmacy, life expectancy, and social support. The majority of available data is based on retrospective reviews or subset analyses of larger studies where the elderly represent a fraction of the studied population. This review focuses on the toxicities and tolerability of current standard therapies for noncolorectal gastrointestinal malignancies, including gastroesophageal, pancreatic, bile duct and hepatocellular cancers in the elderly. With careful patient selection and geriatric assessment the elderly can safely benefit from standard therapies offered to younger patients.

硬件事务内存(hardware transactional memory,HTM)和可字节寻址的非易失性内存(nonvolatile memory,NVM)已经可以在新的计算机设备中使用.使用HTM确保一致性和隔离性,使用NVM确保持久性,组合使用两者可以实现满足原子性、一致性、隔离性和持久性(atomicity,consistency,isolation and durability,ACID)特性的事务.ACID事务在数据库中非常有价值,但由于数据库事务通常较大,其面临的挑战是HTM固有的容量限制和争用水平.首先提出了一种通过HTM进行ACID事务处理的软硬件解决方案——持久化HTM(persistent HTM,PHTM).使用2种方法来消除PHTM的局限性:1)持久化混合事务内存(persistent hybrid TM,PHyTM),允许PHTM事务与支持任意大小的纯软件事务(software transactional memory,STM)并发执行;2)分离事务执行(split transaction execution,STE)算法,该算法为关系数据库事务量身定制,解决了大多数事务超过PHTM的容量限制的问题.简而言之,讨论了利用NVM将HTM扩展到ACID数据库事务的问题.

Ethnobotanical studies in the Balkans are crucial for fostering sustainable rural development in the region and also for investigating the dynamics of change of Traditional Ecological Knowledge(TEK),which has broad-sweeping implications for future biodiversity conservation efforts.A survey of local botanical and medical knowledge and practices was conducted in four mountainous villages of the Peshkopia region in northeast Albania,near the Macedonian *** sampling techniques were employed to recruit 32 informants for participation in semi-structured interviews regarding the use of the local flora for food,medicinal,veterinary and ritual *** uses of 84 botanical taxa were recorded as well as a number of other folk remedies for the treatment of both humans and *** of the collected data with another ethnobotanical field study recently conducted among Albanians living on the Macedonian side of Mount Korab shows a remarkable divergence in medicinal plant uses,thus confirming the crucial role played by the history of the last century in transforming *** noteworthy,as a legacy of the Communist period,a relevant number of wild medicinal taxa are still gathered only for trade rather than personal/familial *** may lead to unsustainable exploitation of certain taxa(*** and Gentiana spp.) and presents some important conservation *** development and environmental educational frameworks should aim to reconnect local people to the perception of limitation and renewability of botanical resources.

Urban greenery generates significant ecosystem services and contributes to improving environmental quality, quality of life, and sustainable urban development. research on various aspects of urban forestry such as carbon sequestration, removing air pollutants, reducing noise, providing recreational amenity benefits is in infancy stage in India. This paper reviews some significant studies in the field of air pollution removal by urban vegetation in developed and developing countries including India. Some issues related to development and research in the field of urban greenery and future management strategies to be adopted in India have been discussed in the paper.

The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy(Dr)continues to increase in pregnant females;these individuals are also at a higher risk of disease *** lack of evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of current treatment options in pregnancy makes disease management particularly *** pregnant women with diabetes should have a prenatal Dr screening,as well as receive counseling regarding the progression and management of Dr during *** blood glucose and blood pressure control should be *** patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDr)in the absence of visually significant diabetic macular edema(DME),panretinal photocoagulation(PrP)remains a safe and effective treatment *** significant DME can be treated with focal laser if areas of focal leakage are identified in the macula on fluorescein angiogram,intravitreal steroids or anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)agents,The theoretical risk of anti-VEGF agents to the fetus should be considered and the patients should be extensively counselled regarding the risks and benefits of initiating anti-VEGF therapy before initiating *** the decision is made to treat with anti-VEGF agents,ranibizumab should be the agent of *** conclusion,ophthalmologists should make treatment decisions in pregnant patients with Dr on a case-by-case basis taking into consideration disease severity,risk of permanent threat to vision,gestational age,and patient preferences.

Obesity is a big problem which is growing. Thus clinicians and surgeons are likely to treat obese patients more frequently. Obesity can affect medical practice in a number of ways. In order to protect ourselves from potential litigation, we need to focus on risk management efforts on creating a safe environment for patients of all sizes. The aim of our study was to review the risk management strategies of obese women prior to surgery, perioperatively and following surgery. We then identified the strategies and have brought them forward in our article.

The aim of this research work was to enhance the fermentative production of exopolysaccharide(EPS)with mixed fruit waste as a key *** campestries was isolated from spoiled orange and its EPS production efficiency was determined using EPS *** to optimisation,the production was 3.4 g/L,upon optimizing the medium the production improved to 9.2 g/*** medium formulation was studied by sequential addition of medium components and replacement of sugar with mixed fruit *** formulated medium,the production enhanced to 11.1 g/*** further optimisation,the response surface methodology was used,which resulted in the enhancement of production to 14.5 g/*** scale-up study was undertaken in a 10 L shake flask and *** 10 L flask EPS,production was 14.45 g/L in 100 h,whereas in 10 L fermenter it was 21.10 g/L in 60h *** optimisation studies gave nearly 500%(6.2fold)enhanced EPS production and dwindle in fermentation *** of sucrose with fruit waste extract made the process environment-friendly;omission of L-cystine and use of 50%reduced amount of sodium acetate in the medium lowered the production cost of *** developed process resulted in the utilization of fruit waste and was also useful in solving the fruit waste disposal problem.
