Background The cryptic nature of pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella(Saunders)larvae enables its reduced vul-nerability to insecticidal control.Further,the development of resistance against Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)toxins posed a serious threat to transgenic cotton cultivation.This necessitated determining the critical timing of spray applications on the control effectiveness.This study assessed the influence of egg age(freshly laid vs.three-day-old)and the loca-tion of larvae(directly exposed to the insecticide residues on the boll rind vs.burrowed inside the bolls)on insecticide control efficacy.results The results revealed a significant decrease in the ovicidal activity of tested insecticides with an increase in the age of eggs from one day old to three days old(paired t-test,Prvae directly exposed to the insec-ticide residues on the boll rind were more susceptible(>80%mortality)than the larvae exposed after they had bur-rowed inside the bolls(rtality).The inhibitory effects of tested insecticides on developmental biology were more pronounced in the experiment on pre-larval release insecticide treatment compared with insecticide treatment given post-larval release and entry inside the bolls.Conclusion Egg age influences the insecticide susceptibility,as does the larval location,directly exposed vs bur-rowed inside the bolls.Older eggs and the larvae that had burrowed inside the green bolls of cotton were relatively less susceptible to the insecticide treatments.The toxic effects of insecticides on egg and larval stages were primar-ily ephemeral.These findings are significant for devising a comprehensive strategy for pink bollworm management on a sustainable basis.

The current research work proposed a novel optimization-based 2D-SIMM(Two-Dimensional Sine Iterative chaotic map with inﬁnite collapse Mod-ulation Map)model for image encryption.The proposed 2D-SIMM model is derived out of sine map and Iterative Chaotic Map with Inﬁnite Collapse(ICMIC).In this technique,scrambling effect is achieved with the help of Chaotic Shift Transform(CST).Chaotic Shift Transform is used to change the value of pixels in the input image while the substituted value is cyclically shifted according to the chaotic sequence generated by 2D-SIMM model.These chaotic sequences,generated using 2D-SIMM model,are sensitive to initial conditions.In the proposed algorithm,these initial conditions are optimized using JAYA optimization algorithm.Correlation coefﬁcient and entropy are considered asﬁtness functions in this study to evaluate the best solution for initial conditions.The simulation results clearly shows that the proposed algorithm achieved a better performance over existing algorithms.In addition,the VLSI implementation of the proposed algorithm was also carried out using Xilinx system generator.With optimization,the correlation coefﬁcient was-0.014096 and without optimization,it was 0.002585.

This work focuses on the efficiency of the LED acting as the heat sink containing Phase Change Material(PCM). Three different heat sink configurations(H-1, H-2, and H-3) are used in this study. Input power and the number of fins are altered to find their effect on junction temperatures, luminous flux, and thermal resistance. The junction temperature of heat sink H-3 with PCM decreased by 3.1 % when compared with heat sink devoid of PCM at 10 W. The thermal resistance of the heat sink H-3 is reduced by 18.2 % when compared to its counterpart devoid of PCM at 10 W. The luminous flux of the PCM filled heat sink H-3 is found to increase by 12.15 % against the PCM not filled heat sink H-1 at 10 W. The H-3 heat sink with PCM showed superior performance because of the enhanced natural convection and conduction in bulk PCM with fins, and with added high latent heat capacity of PCM.

Ballistic parameter plays a major role in determining the re-entry trajectory.Lower ballistic coefficient offers an optimal re-entry,wherein the vehicle decelerates higher up in the atmosphere thereby decreasing the imposed aerothermal loads.The current computational study proposes an add-on,to the existing Orion-based re-entry vehicle:a duct circumventing the capsule from the shoulder to the base,to improve the aerocapture ability of the re-entry vehicle.The design cases are categorised based on a non-dimensional parameter termed the Annular Area ratio(AAr).Dragand ballistic coefficient of the Ducted re-entry Vehicles(DrVs)at various Mach numbers are evaluated and compared with those of the baseline model.The results show that the proposed design increases the drag for all the AArs considered in the subsonic regime.In the supersonic regime,ducted models of higher AAr are more promising with the increase in Mach number.DrVs also exhibit lower ballistic coefficients than their baseline counterparts.

The development of science and technology has led to the era of Industry 4.0.The core concept is the combination of“material and informationization”.In the supply chain and manufacturing process,the“material”of the physical entity world is realized by data,identity,intelligence,and information.Industry 4.0 is a disruptive transformation and upgrade of intelligent industrialization based on the Internet-of-Things and Big Data in traditional industrialization.The goal is“maximizing production efficiency,minimizing production costs,and maximizing the individual needs of human beings for products and services.”Achieving this goal will surely bring about a major leap in the history of the industry,which will lead to the“Fourth Industrial revolution.”This paper presents a detailed discussion of industrial big data,strategic roles,architectures,characteristics,and four types of innovative business models that can generate profits for enterprises.The key revolutionary aspect of Industry 4.0 is explained,which is the equipment revolution.Six important attributes of equipment are explained under the Industry 4.0 perspective.

Use of sewage in split doses to enhance water productivity for fish culture

The problem of sewage disposal has received great attention worldwide.The raw sewage contains a variety of high inorganic and organic matters that affect natural water environment.To mitigate such problem,sewage may be recycled through aquaculture practice.Sewage recycling in aquaculture enhances water productivity through nutrients input.Proper loading of sewage ensures viable aquaculture;otherwise,fish mortality occurs due to poor water quality.To optimize sewage application,two different experiments were conducted,each with four treatments.In both experiments,three fish species namely rohu(Labeo rohita Hamilton,1822),mrigal(Cirrhinus mrigala Hamilton,1822),and bata(Labeo bata Hamilton,1822)were tested in triplicate in FrP(Fibre-reinforced Plastic)tanks.Different sewage concentrations(0,25%,50%and 75%)used in first experiment were prepared by mixing freshwater,showing Biochemical Oxygen Demand(BOD)2.0±0.4 mg/L,10.8±1.4 mg/L,19.6±1.5 mg/L and 41.6±2.58 mg/L,respectively.After 30 days rearing,results showed≥75%fish survival in sewage concentrations up to 50%with BOD level 19.6±1.5 mg/L.Less than 50%fish survived in 75%sewage concentration,with BOD level as 41.6±2.58 mg/L.The second experiment was conducted for 90 days considering 50%sewage concentration as basal dose with BOD level as 19.6 mg/L as an acceptable limit for fish survival.Split doses of sewage were applied in T_(1),T_(2) and T_(3) treatments fortnightly,weekly and semi-weekly intervals,while single dose was used in C(control)treatment.Application of split doses resulted better hydro-biological changes,including nutrients recovery,in T_(1),T_(2) and T_(3) than that of single dose in control.Fish growth plotted with net primary productivity(NPP),phytoplankton and zooplankton densities exhibited positive correlations in T_(2)(12 doses)and T_(3)(24 doses),considered as optimal doses to ensure better water productivity for desirable fish production than sewage with single dose or limited doses(6 doses).

In the present investigation, composites with silicon carbide particle （SiCp） as reinforcement and AZ91 magnesium alloy as matrix have been synthesized using liquid metal stir-casting technique with optimized processing conditions. The composites with good particle distribution in the matrix, and better grain refinement and good interfacial bonding between the matrix and reinforcement have been obtained. The effect of SiCp content on the physical, mechanical, and tribological properties of Mg-based metal matrix composite （MMC） is studied with respect to particle distribution, grain refinement, and particle/matrix interfacial reactions. The electrical conductivity, coefficient of thermal expansion, microas well as macro-hardness, tensile and compressive properties, and the fracture behavior of the composites along with dry sliding wear of the composites have been evaluated and compared with the base alloy.

Correlation between Maxillary Central Incisor Crown Form and Maxillary Dental Arch Form:A Model‑Based Morphometric,Cross‑Sectional Study

The crown form of maxillary central incisor tooth is one of the vital phenomenon for a person’s esthetics.Its crown form has been compared with other anatomical parameters such as arch form and facial form.Three different classes of tooth forms which relate to square,tapered,and ovoid forms are identified.The aim of this study was to morphometrically evaluate the correlation between maxillary dental arch form and the maxillary central incisor crown form.Dentate cast models of fifty male and fifty female normal occlusion controls in the age group of 18-23 years were analyzed.The mesiodistal(MD)dimensions of the maxillary central incisors were measured at incisal(MD_I)and at gingival(MD_G)levels.The transverse widths of maxillary casts were measured at the first molar and at the first premolar levels.The measured data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS software.The MD dimensions of maxillary central incisor were significantly greater in males than females.The ratio between the two MD dimensions also varied significantly among genders.The intermolar width(IMW)and interfirst premolar width(IPmW)between males and females were highly significant(Preas the ratio between these two parameters in males and females was not significant(P=0.43).Eighty‑eight percentage of the participants were found to have an ovoid type of maxillary arch,while only 45%of them had the ovoid form of maxillary central incisors.The MD_I and the IMW were found to be in the ratio of 1:5.5 in both genders.The MD_G and the IPmW were in the ratio of 1:4.7 in males and 1:4.5 in females.There was a weak positive correlation between MD_I and IMW(r^(2)=0.146)and between MD_G and IPmW(r^(2)=0.05).No significant concordance between the maxillary central incisor crown form and the maxillary arch form was found in this study.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SArS-CoV-2) pandemic has caused a global economic and health crisis. recently, plasma levels of galectin-9 (Gal-9), a β-galactoside-binding lectin involved in immune regulation and viral immunopathogenesis, were reported to be elevated in the setting of severe COVID-19 disease. However, the impact of Gal-9 on SArS-CoV-2 infection and immunopathology remained to be elucidated. In this study, we demonstrate that Gal-9 treatment potently enhances SArS-CoV-2 replication in human airway epithelial cells (AECs), including immortalized AECs and primary AECs cultured at the air–liquid interface. Gal-9–glycan interactions promote SArS-CoV-2 attachment and entry into AECs in an angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)-dependent manner, enhancing the binding of the viral spike protein to ACE2. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that Gal-9 and SArS-CoV-2 infection synergistically induced the expression of key pro-inflammatory programs in AECs, including the IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, EIF2, and TNFα signaling pathways. Our findings suggest that manipulation of Gal-9 should be explored as a therapeutic strategy for SArS-CoV-2 infection.
