Introduction In the aftermath of the end of the cold war and the collapse of The Former Soviet Union, some western scholars such as Francis Fukuyama announced the ultimate victory of liberalism and market economy declaring the end of the history in his article entitled as"The end of the history".According to his point of view, it is approved that the socialist trend based on the central planning economy is not the best or even the appropriate way to achieve development especially in the emerging economies. Contrarily the market economy with minimal state intervention is qualified with tools and mechanisms that enable it to achieve development successfully.

The article discusses plot size standards applied in the government sites-and-services projects in Khartoum and probes into the possible alternative ways of re-establishing solid grounds for those standards. The particular issue of plot size is a crucial factor in the whole housing policy as it directly affects the urban land use and consumption and extends its influence far into sustainability and affordability issues and the whole housing policy and supply process. The article, analysing the applied standards, argues that plot subdivision can substantially contribute to providing more access of housing to the low-income groups. Large plot sizes can be subdivided driven by the need to realize security of tenure, doubling the owner-occupier housing stock which is the base issue of self-help housing, increases housing finance, provides variety of housing choices and behind all it conforms to the legacy principles and some cultural attributes of the local community. The article underlined existence of a cumbersome regulatory system, subdivision procedures and development controls which need to be reformed.

Sinai Peninsula has fascinating geologic setting and is displaying a diversity of structural lineaments that have greatly influenced the distribution of natural resources and hazards. Shaded relief images derived from SrTM-DEM mosaics were used for the identification, extraction, and mapping of these structural lineaments. Statistical parameters particularly, azimuth frequency, lineament intersection, lengths, and density distribution were analyzed using SPSS software. Two additional new statistical indices;Lineament relative Abundance Index (LrAI) and Lineament Majority-Minority Index (LMMI) were applied. Moreover, the distribution of the different statistical parameters was illustrated as contour maps through GIS environment. Basically, two dominant clusters;NW-SE and NNE-SSW trends were detected. These trends are related to major fracture systems that are characterized by extensive mean lengths and high proportion values. Furthermore, the northern and central parts of Sinai Peninsula have lower density and intersection of structural lineaments that gradually increase towards the southern part. However, the northern part of Sinai displays wider areas of majority zones than the southern part. This could be attributed to the lower density of lineaments and little tendency for multiple lineament populations. The majority zones are usually associated with NE and NW-SE in the northern part of Sinai, whereas the majority zones are of less abundance in the central and southern parts of Sinai due to the multiple orientations of lineament populations which reduce the tendency for majority. Eventually, the results of the present work could be applicable in the different geologic and environmental aspects that are based on a good understanding of the genetic and spatial relationships of fracture systems. These aspects encompass geodynamics, exploration for mineralization and groundwater, in addition to the mitigation of natural hazards such as flush flooding and earthquakes.

Background and Aims:Strategies for detection of early hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)are still *** GALAD score is a serum biomarker-based model designed to predict the probability of having *** aimed to assess the ability of GALAD score to diagnose early HCC and its validity to follow patients after local ablation ***:This multicenter prospective study included 108 patients in two groups,58 HCC patients(67 focal lesions)with local ablative therapy(study group),and a control group of 50 patients with liver *** GALAD scores of the study and control groups,and of the HCC patients before and after ablative therapy were ***:Most patients were men(74.1%in study group and 76%in controls)with hepatitis C virus infection(98.30%in the study group,and 94%in controls).GALAD scores were significantly higher in HCC patients than in those with benign cirrhosis(2.65 vs.−0.37,p=0.001).Ablative therapy was successful in 94.4%of focal lesionsre was also significantly lower at 1 month after ablation in patients with well-ablated tumors(2.19 vs.0.98,p=0.001).The best cutoff values of GALAD score for diagnosis of early HCC,and for prediction of well ablation of HCC were 0.74 and≤3.31(areas under the curve of 0.92 and 0.75,sensitivities of 84.48%and 76.19%,specificities of 89.13%and 83.33%,positive predictive values of 90.74%and 94.1%,and negative predictive values of 82%and 35.7%respectively).Conclusion:The GALAD score was effective for the diagnosis of early HCC and for followup after ablative therapy.

A computer analysis of solar heating has been performed for Palestine. results are presented for a prototype building using either fuel oil or gas under different heating loads in three climatic regions （Jordan valley, coastal, and hilly）. Cumulative cost flows are compared for the life-cycle present value technique. Optimum design magnitudes are determined for maximum life-cycle savings. The payback period for capital invested in a solar system, and total savings are found for the optimum conditions. Variations of system performance are estimated. The effects of collector slope, proportionate storage tank volume, heat-exchanger parameters, and the design load on system performance are studied. Finally the economics of solar heating in Palestine are discussed and recommendations are made for increased utilization of solar energy.

This study aims to assess the small ruminant value chain in Al-ruwaished District,Jordan,to identify the potential intervention areas that could improve the production efficiency and guarantee the sustainability of the small ruminant sector in this *** breeding is the source of livelihood for most of the people in Al-ruwaished District,which is characterized by the large number of sheep and *** surveyed 5.0% of the small ruminant holders in the study area and conducted individual interviews and surveys with the potential actors in the value chain to undertake a small ruminant value chain *** the survey,we found that the small ruminant value chain consists of five core functions,namely,input supply,production management,marketing,processing,and *** the stable impression given by the large number of holdings in the small ruminant sector,the surveyed results show a clear fragility in the value chain of small ruminants in this *** small ruminant production system is negatively impacted by climate change,especially continuous *** addition,the high prices of feed that the farmer cannot afford with clear and real absence of the governmental and non-governmental support activities also impact the development of the value *** results of strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threats(SWOT)analysis reveal that the major constraints faced by this value chain could be divided into external and internal ***,the most prominent external threats are the nature of the desert land and continuous drought,while the major internal threats are the absence of appropriate infrastructure,shortage of inputs,and weakness in the production management and *** proposed solutions to these challenges to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the sector,such as the formulation of emergency response plans to severe weather,qualifying farmers’skills,and establishment of agricultural cooperative societies.

Due to drought, low soil fertility, little rain fall, elevated levels of evapotranspiration, salinization of the soil and a lack of ground water, the problem of desertion of agricultural areas has developed in KSA in recent years (e.g. Tabuk region). In the Saudi Arabia, agricultural land abandonment’s negative impact on the composition of perennial vegetation, soil quality, and the structure of population was investigated. In the several abandoned fields of the research region, eleven species of perennial plants pertaining to nine families, eleven genera were found. Following the use of the ordination of detrended correspondence analysis (DCA), four plant communities were found. Zygophyllum hamiense, Prosopis farcta, Seidlitzia rosmarinus, Traganum nudatum. The indicators were Pulicaria undulate, Calligonum comosum. Populations of Calligonum comosum and Zygophyllum hamiense were found to be either negatively skewed or inversely J-shaped, indicating fast-growing populations with strong reproductive potential, according to demographic research. Traganum nudatum, Prosopis farcta and S. rosmarinus, on the other hand, have a nearly symmetrical size-frequency distribution (like a bell in shape). The current research highlights the importance of managing deserted agricultural fields in order to restore and improve range lands having adapted native plants to regional conditions like little water demand.

The rapid development of high-throughput sequencing technologies has led to a dramatic decrease in the money and time required for de novo genome sequencing or genome resequencing projects, with new genome sequences constantly released every week. Among such projects, the plethora of updated genome assemblies induces the requirement of versiondependent annotation files and other compatible public dataset for downstream analysis. To handlethese tasks in an efficient manner, we developed the reference-based genome assembly and annotation tool（rGAAT）, a flexible toolkit for resequencing-based consensus building and annotation update. rGAAT can detect sequence variants with comparable precision, specificity, and sensitivity to GATK and with higher precision and specificity than Freebayes and SAMtools on four DNAseq datasets tested in this study. rGAAT can also identify sequence variants based on cross-cultivar or cross-version genomic alignments. Unlike GATK and SAMtools/BCFtools, rGAAT builds the consensus sequence by taking into account the true allele frequency. Finally, rGAAT generates a coordinate conversion file between the reference and query genomes using sequence variants and supports annotation file transfer. Compared to the rapid annotation transfer tool（rATT）,rGAAT displays better performance characteristics for annotation transfer between different genome assemblies, strains, and species. In addition, rGAAT can be used for genome modification,genome comparison, and coordinate conversion. rGAAT is available at https://***/projects/rgaat/and https://***/wushyer/rGAAT;2 at no cost.

Collagen crosslinking with photoactivated riboflavin in advanced infectious keratitis with corneal melting: Electrophysiological Study

AIM: To assess the effect of photoactivated chromophore for keratitis crosslinking(PACK-CXL) in case of severe keratitis with melting on the electrophysiological function of the retina and the optic ***: The study included 32 eyes of 32 patients with smear positive severe infectious keratitis with corneal melting. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. Group I(control group) included 16 eyes received systemic and topical antimicrobial drugs guarded by culture and sensitivity test. Group II underwent CXL and then continued their antimicrobial treatment. Full field electroretinogram(ErG) and flash visual evoked potential(VEP) were done for each patient in both groups basically and then 1 wk, 1 and 3 mo post-treatment to assess the changes in the electrophysiological function of the retina and optic ***: Healing of 10 eyes in group I in comparison to 14 eyes in group II was recorded. The mean duration of healing was 36.56±5.21 d in group I vs 20.2±4.4 d in group II(Proup II, ErG showed an insignificant reduction of all parameters of ErG and VEP after CXL. The amplitude of scotopic rod response, oscillatory potential amplitude, flicker amplitude and photopic cone response were insignificantly decreased(P=0.4, 0.8, 0.1, and 0.3 respectively). There were insignificant prolongation of latencies of scotopic rod, oscillatory potential, flicker and photopic cone response(P=0.2, 0.7, 0.5 and 0.1). There was slight delay in latency of VEP without a significant reduction in ***: CXL is an effective technique in treatment of severe infectious keratitis with melting as it halts the melting process with acceptable safety on the retinal and optic nerve function.
