The mismatch between the photovoltaic(PV)cells absorption and the solar irradiance on earth is one of the major limitations towards more efficient PV energy *** aspect was addressed by downshifting the solar irradiance on Earth through luminescent down-shifting layers based on lanthanidedoped surface-functionalized ionosilicas(Iss)embedded in poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)coated on the surface of commercial si-based PV *** Is-PMMA hybrid materials exhibit efficient solar radiation harvesting(spectral overlap of^9.5×10^19 photons/(s·m2))and conversion(quantum yield^52%).The direct solar radiation and the down-shifted radiation are partially guided and lost through total internal reflection to the layer edges being unavailable for PV conversion of the coated PV *** tuning the down-shifting layer thickness,it also acts as luminescent solar concentrator enabling the collection of the guided radiation by flexible PV cells applied on the borders of the down-shifting layer leading to an enhancement of the PV energy conversion from^5%(in the case of the single-use of the luminescent down-shifting layer)to^13%comparing with the bare PV *** overall electrical output of the device resulted in an absolute external quantum efficiency increase of^32%for the optimized Eu^3+-based films in the UV spectral region(compared with the bare PV device,which is among the best values reported so far).

Evidence-based Practice of Chinese Medicine in Physical rehabilitation science

Chinese medicine is among other traditional medical systems practiced either as a coadjutant intervention to Greek medicine or as the unique therapeutic intervention for illness prevention, treatment or rehabilitation. The complete spectrum from that traditional system includes acupuncture and moxibustion, herbal and food therapy, massage therapy （tuina）, physical exercises （taijiquan）, and breathing exercises （qigong）. In this article, it is presented several randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews on the application of all therapeutic modalities from Chinese medicine in the physical rehabilitation scenario. The discussed studies encompasses both ＂positive＂ and ＂negative＂ results of Chinese medicine intervention for disabilities due to illnesses of the nervous, musculoskeletal or cardiovascular systems. Additionally, the importance of the personalized approach for Chinese medicineand rehabilitation is emphasized together with the need for reproducible methods for pattern differentiation and intervention selection. Chinese medicine resources are recognized as promising methods for therapeutic rehabilitation and can be incorporated into the rehabilitation science. The wide variety of therapeutic resources explains why Chinese medicine is currently a multidisciplinary practice for health protection and promotion, early diagnosis and treatment as well as rehabilitation with roles in the public health care system.

As JET is developing and testing operational scenarios for higher fusion performance,an increase in pulse disruptivity is being *** a deeper analysis,we find that several radiative phenomena play an active role in determining the outcome of the *** analysis is enabled by the use of real-time tomography based on the bolometer *** though plasma tomography is an inverse problem,we use machine learning to train a forward model that provides the radiation profile directly,based on a single matrix multiplication *** model is used to investigate radiative phenomena including sawtooth crashes,ELMs and MArFE,and their relationship to the radiated power in different regions of *** particular,we use realtime tomography to monitor the core region,and to throw an alarm whenever core radiation exceeds a certain *** results suggest that this measure alone can anticipate a significant fraction of disruptions in the JET baseline scenario.

Chinese Medicine Pattern Differentiation and Its Implications for Clinical Practice

Chinese medicine practitioners apply the differentiation reasoning for decision-making. The wide scope of Chinese medicine intervention provides coverage of methods and techniques with applications to primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention. The rapid evolution of mathematical and computational techniques allowed the implementation of several models for pattern differentiation that were tested for several physiologic systems. Concurrently, it is argued that pattern differentiation might improve the efficacy of either traditional or conventional medical interventions. This article reviewed the influence of pattern differentiation into clinical practice organized by medical field： general pattern differentiation; genitourinary （recurrent cystitis）; cardiovascular （coronary heart disease; arterial hypertension; angina pectoris）; neurology （stroke）; surgery; metabolic （diabetes mellitus）; hepatic （cirrhosis）; gastrointestinal （chronic superficial gastritis）; orthopedic （low back pain; rheumatoid arthritis; cervical spondylosis; elbow arthritis）; oncology （gastric mucosal dysplasia; lung cancer）; gynecologic and obstetric manifestations （nausea and vomiting）. The reviewed studies presented achievements that have contributed to the integration of Chinese medicine and evidence-based medicine in the treatment of many mild and severe diseases. Target diseases considered as major public health problems were also investigated and the results are promising regarding the possibility to treat guided by pattern differentiation.

The radial surface coating layer of compression piston rings is used to improve their wear resistance during the internal combustion engine ***,at top dead centers,the friction coefficient of the piston ring–cylinder liner pair is detrimental to the engine’s tribological *** this work,dimples with different texture dimensions and densities were tested in a home-developed *** friction coefficient was measured for all samples,and for those with the best results,their wear resistance was *** texture with an aspect ratio of 0.25 and a density area of 15%reported the best tribological results.

Mitigating adjacent channel interference in vehicular communication systems

In the last few decades, dedicated wireless channels were specifically allocated to enable the development and implementation of vehicular communication systems. The two main protocol stacks, the WAVE stan- dards proposed by the IEEE in the United states and the ETsI ITs-G5 in Europe, reserved 10 MHz wide channels in the 5.9 GHz spectrum band. Despite the exclusive use of these frequencies for vehicular com- munication purposes, there are still cross channel interference problems that have been widely reported in the literature. In order to mitigate these issues, this paper presents the design of a two-stage FIr low-pass filter, targeting the integration with a digital baseband receiver chain of a custom vehicular communications platform. The filter was tested, evaluated and optimized, with the simulation results proving the effectiveness of the proposed method and the low delay introduced in the overall operation of the receiver chain. 2016 Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Promoting integrative medicine by computerization of traditional Chinese medicine for scientific research and clinical practice: The suiteTCM Project

BACKGrOUND： Chinese and contemporary Western medical practices evolved on different cultures and historical contexts and, therefore, their medical knowledge represents this cultural divergence. Computerization of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） is being used to promote the integrative medicine to manage, process and integrate the knowledge related to TCM anatomy, physiology, semiology, pathophysiology, and therapy. METHODs： We proposed the development of the suiteTCM software, a collection of integrated computational models mainly derived from epidemiology and statistical sciences for computerization of Chinese medicine scientific research and clinical practice in all levels of prevention. The software includes components for data management （DataTCM）, simulation of cases （simTCM）, analyses and validation of datasets （sciTCM）, clinical examination and pattern differentiation （DiagTCM, TongueTCM, and PulseTCM）, intervention selection （AcuTCM, HerbsTCM, and DietTCM）, management of medical records （ProntTCM）, epidemiologic investigation of sampled data （researchTCM）, and medical education, training, and assessment （studentTCM）. DIsCUssION： The suiteTCM project is expected to contribute to the ongoing development of integrative medicine and the applicability of TCM in worldwide scientific research and health care. The suiteTCM 1.0 runs on Windows XP or later and is freely available for download as an executable application.

simTCM: A human patient simulator with application to diagnostic accuracy studies of Chinese medicine

OBJECTIVE： The aim of this work is to develop and implement the simTCM, an advanced computationa model that incorporates relevant aspects from traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） theory as well as advanced statistical and epidemiological techniques for simulation and analysis of human patients. METHODs： simTCM presents five major attributes for simulation： representation of true and false profiles for any single pattern; variable count of manifestations for each manifestation profile; empirical distributions of patterns and manifestations in a disease-specific population; incorporation of uncertainty in clinical data; and the combination of the four examinations. The proposed model is strengthened by following international standards for reporting diagnostic accuracy studies, and incorporates these standards in its treatment of study population, sample size calculation, data collection of manifestation profiles, exclusion criteria and missing data handling, reference standards, randomization and blinding and test reproducibility. rEsULTs： simulations using data from patients diagnosed with hypertension and post-stroke sensory- motor impairments yielded no significant differences between expected and simulated frequencies of patterns （P = 0.22 or higher）. Time for convergence of simulations varied from 9.90 s （9.80, 10.27） to 28.31 s （26.33, 29.52）. The ratio iteration profile necessary for convergence varied between 1：1 and 5：1. CONCLUsION： This model is directly connected to forthcoming models in a large project to design and implement the suite TCM： ProntTCM, sciTCM, DiagTCM, studentTCM, research TCM, HerbsTCM, AcuTCM, and DataTCM. It is expected that the continuity of the suiteTCM project enhances the evidence-based practice of Chinese medicine.
