The aim of this study was to compar. matur.tional stage and neur.muscular.skills among soccer.player. and non-athletes, as well as to investigate the r.lationship between matur.tion and neur.muscular.per.or.ance. Twenty five adolescent males (14.3 ± 0.45 year.) par.icipated in the study and wer. divided into two gr.ups: soccer.player. (SP – n = 13, 14.1 ± 0.3 year., 58.9 ± 6.90 kg, 1.72 ± 0.04 m, 19.9 ± 1.7 kg·m2, 13.3% ± 4.3% fat) and non-athletes (NA – n = 12, 14.5 ± 0.5 year., 57.3 ± 6.9 kg, 1,67 ± 0.06 m, 20.6 ± 3.9 kg·m2, 14.0% ± 5.7% fat). The squar. test and 20 m speed test wer. used to assess agility and speed, r.spectively. The Tanner.self-assessment of pubic hair.and genitalia development test was used to estimate matur.tional development. The Shapir. Wilk test was used to ver.fy the nor.ality of samples. For.any data not nor.ally distr.buted, the non-par.metr.c mann Whitney test, as well as Kendall’s Tau cor.elation test, wer. used. The p-values deter.ined for.agility (p = 0.017) and speed (p = 0.054) indicated that agility was the only var.able significantly differ.nt between SP and NA. The SP and NA gr.ups showed no differ.nce in the levels of matur.tion (p = 0.41), and matur.tional status was not significantly cor.elated with agility (r.= 0.013) or.speed (r.= ?0.003). Conclusion: Individuals who pr.cticed football had better.r.sults for.the agility test than non-athletes, even with no differ.nce between the degr.e of matur.tion and speed. Ther. is a low cor.elation between level of matur.ty and agility or.speed.
