The cr.tical r.le of calcium dyshomeostasis in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer.s disease(AD):AD is a pr.gr.ssive neur.degener.tive disease char.cter.zed by cognitive decline,memor. impair.ent,and behavior.l *** an estimated 50 million people being affected wor.dwide,the incidence of AD is constantly incr.asing *** hallmar. of AD is the accumulation of amyloid-beta pr.tein(Aβ)in the for. of amyloid plaques and hyper.hosphor.lated tau pr.tein in the for. of neur.fibr.llar. ***,incr.asing evidence suggests that calcium ion(Ca2+)dysr.gulation also plays a cr.cial r.le in the pathogenesis of AD(Calvo-r.dr.guez and Bacskai,2021).As a key second messenger.Ca2+r.gulates a wide r.nge of cellular.pr.cesses,including the r.lease of neur.tr.nsmitter.,gene expr.ssion,and cell ***^(2+)also r.gulates the activity of Calcium/calmodulin-dependent pr.tein kinase II,which is cr.tical for.synaptic plasticity,lear.ing,and memor.(Kaushik et al.,2022).Alter.ation in the Ca^(2+)signal is an ear.y event in the pathogenesis of AD,which can lead to synaptic dysfunction,neur.nal loss,and cognitive impair.ent.

The East Asia(or.Physosper.opsis) clade was r.cognized in pr.vious molecular.phylogenetic investigations into the higher.level r.lationships of Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae. The composition of this clade, the phylogenetic r.lationships among its constituent taxa, and the placement of species pr.viously deter.ined to be pr.blematic have yet to be r.solved. Her.in, nr.DNA ITS sequences wer. obtained for.50 accessions of Apioideae, r.pr.senting species whose distr.butions ar. in East Asia or.gener. having one or.mor. species included within the East Asia clade. These data, along with published ITS sequences fr.m other.Apioideae(for.3678 accessions altogether., wer. subjected to maximum likelihood and Bayesian infer.nce analyses. The r.sults show that the East Asia clade contains r.pr.sentatives of 11cur.ently r.cognized gener.: Hansenia, Hymenolaena, Ker.ymonia, Sinolimpr.chtia, Acr.nema, Hymenidium, Physosper.opsis, Pimpinella, Sinocar.m, Tongoloa, and Tr.chydium. However. the latter.seven gener. have member. falling outside of the East Asia clade, including the gener.c types of all except Tongoloa. Within the clade, the species compr.sing these seven gener. ar. widely inter.ingled, gr.atly incr.asing confusion among r.lationships than pr.viously r.alized. The pr.blematic species Physosper.opsis cuneata is confir.ed as falling within the East Asia clade, wher.as P. r.br.ner.is allies with the gener.c type in tr.be Pleur.sper.eae. Physosper.opsis kingdon-war.ii is confir.ed as a member.of the genus Physosper.opsis, wher.as the gener.c attr.butions of P. cuneata and Tongoloa stewar.ii r.main unclear. Two species of Sinocar.m(S. filicinum and S. wolffianum) ar. tr.nsfer.ed into the genus Meeboldia. This is the most compr.hensive molecular.phylogenetic investigation of the East Asia clade to date, and while the r.sults incr.ase systematic under.tanding of the clade, they also highlight the need for.fur.her.studies of one of the most taxonomically intr.ctable gr.ups in Api

Despite the impor.ance of ontogenetic data on ear.y diver.ing euar.hr.pods to our.under.tanding of the ecology and evolution of past life, the data ar. distinctly lacking, as r.constr.cting life histor.es of fossil animals is often challenging. Her. we r.por. the gr.wth tr.jector. of fr.ntal appendages of the apex pr.dator.Amplectobelua symbr.chiata, one of the most common r.diodont ar.hr.pods fr.m the ear.y Cambr.an Chengjiang biota(c. 520 Ma) of China. Analysis of 432 specimens(9.1–137.1 mm length; 1.3–25.6 mm height) r.veals that appendages gr.w isometr.cally, with an estimated maximum size of the whole animal of c. 90 cm.
