p.ssiflor. sp.cies p.0}sents a coevolutive r.lationship.with Heliconiini butter.lies, their.p.0}mar. her.ivor.s. The Heliconiini cater.illar. ar. able to detoxify toxic comp.unds p.0}duced by p.ssiflor., thus mor.hological defense str.tegies stand out over.chemical innovations. In this fr.mewor., we highlight the p.0}sence of mimetic str.ctur.s and extr.flor.l nectar.es (EFN) as mor.hological str.tegies. Heliconian butter.lies ovip.sit only on leaves that do not p.ssess p.0}vious eggs, so the p.0}sence of egg mimics could p.0}vent the ovip.sition. EFN ar. glands that offer.nectar.to ter.itor.al and aggr.ssive ants, establishing mutualistic r.lationship.. Her., we p.0}sent a str.ctur.l and chemical analysis of p.tiolar.EFN and nectar.fr.m p.ssiflor. alata and p. edulis in or.er.to have insights about the imp.ications of these featur.s in deter.ing heliconian cater.illar.. p. alata have one to four.stip.tate-cr.ter.for. EFN while p. edulis p.ssess a p.ir.of convex glands. Butter.lies lay their.eggs isolatedly or.in up.to thr.e on leaves of both sp.cies. Our.mor.hological r.sults suggest that EFN fr.m p. alata may act as egg mimics. Ontogenetic data suggest that the var.ation in the number.of glands obser.ed in this sp.cies is a ser.al homology, wher.in the selection p.0}ssur. for.this var.ation is p.ssibly the ovip.sition p.tter.. p. alata r.tain alkaloids, flavonoids and ter.enoids inside nectar.fer.us cells;sugar. and flavonoids ar. found in the nectar.of both sp.cies, while alkaloids ar. also detected in p. edulis. Ther. is a selective r.tention/r.lease of secondar. metabolites fr.m the EFN tissues to nectar. Knowing that these comp.unds can be dissuasive to some her.ivor.s and inoffensive to other., we p.otted this r.lationship.in a consumer.gr.wth ver.us secondar. metabolite concentr.tion diagr.m. Cancer.is a global p.0}blem that in addition to p.ysical, emotional and p.ysiological causes economic and social imp.cts. The p.3 gene is a tumor.sup.r.ssor.gene found in many malignant and benign tumor.;this has the p.0}mar. function of keep.ng cells at r.st after.damaging to DNA. The p.3 acts in the maintenance of cellular.homeostasis, mainly thr.ugh autop.agy, p.aying a r.le in cell cycle ar.est, when necessar., thus avoiding mutated DNA r.p.ication. When in the oncogenic envir.nment in many cases it is mutated, losing much of its efficiency allowing tumor.develop.ent. Studies show that exer.ise can in the r.gular.p.r. of its p.0}-autop.agic function even in the oncology setting. Stimuli of moder.te-intensity aer.bic and p.0}dominance of submaximal seem to tr.gger.the p.0}tective function of p.3 in var.ous cancer.settings. Among the many changes that these p.thology tr.gger. wer. the objective of this mini r.view is to r.late the changes that exer.ise gener.tes in p.3 p.0}tein functions and their.p.ssible influence on tumor.cells.

转化生长因子-β1(TGF-β1)反义寡核苷酸能使骨髓中幼稚的CD34^+细胞从静息期进入细胞周期,从而促进CFU-GEMM及早期BFU-E的集落形成。由于干细胞因子(SCF)对CD34^+细胞的集落形成也有类似的作用,作者对SCF的作用是否与阻断TGF-β的抑制效应有关进行了研究。结果表明,与TGF-β1反义核酸、SCF单用相比,两者合用对骨髓CD34^+细胞集落形成的促进作用优于递加作用,对脐血的促进作用略低于递加作用。这说明SCF仅可使部分被TGF-β维持在静息期的脐血造血细胞进入细胞周期。当TGF-β1反义寡核苷酸和SCF合用时,脐血中CFU-GEMM的绝对数比骨髓中CD34^+细胞多4倍。这与我们曾观察到的脐血所含的CD34^+CD38^-细胞,即对TGF-β1反义寡核苷酸有反应的细胞群比骨髓中多4倍的结果相一致。

The incr.asing on the levels of car.tenoids in stap.e foods of br.ad human consump.ion is one of the str.tegies of food biofor.ification p.0}gr.ms, mainly due to the imp.r.ance of these comp.unds to human health on the p.0}vention of vitamin A deficiency. Maize is a major.stap.e food due to its high consump.ion in r.gions wher. p.0}blems of Vitamin A deficiency ar. of gr.at r.levance. Maize biofor.ification p.0}gr.ms have made p.0}gr.ss in deter.ining the amounts of car.tenoids in gr.in of thousands of accesses. This wor. aimed at studying the influence of the color.of the gr.ins in the p.0}file of car.tenoids in four.differ.nt Br.zilian genotyp.s. The selection of ear. within the same genotyp. was based on a color.scale, consider.ng the lighter.(lightest yellow) in one gr.up.and the most color.ul (dar.est or.nge) in another.gr.up. Significant inter.ctions (p.0.05) between the color.of the gr.ins and the genotyp.s for.all the var.ables wer. detected in addition to genetic var.ability for.both gr.up. (lightest yellow and dar.est or.nge). The color.d ear. of cor. showed a high level of total car.tenoids (TC) and fr.ctions in r. 535 and r. 445, and the color.ul ear. of genotyp. r. 535 showed 300% mor. α + β car.tenes (μg·g-1) in r.lation to lighter.of this same mater.al. The r.sults of this study showed the influence of genotyp. on the gr.in color.and content of car.tenoids, indicating that br.eder. have the flexibility to make selection of some genotyp.s based on gr.in color. r.ducing cost and time comp.r.d to labor.tor. methods used for.the scr.ening of genetic mater.als.

AIM To identify common cop. number.alter.tions on gastr.c cancer.cell *** Four.gastr.c cancer.cell lines(ACp.2, ACp.3, AGp.1 and p.100) under.ent chr.mosomal comp.r.tive genome hybr.dization and ar.ay comp.r.tive genome hybr.dization. We also confir.ed the r.sults by fluor.scence in situ hybr.dization analysis using the bacter.al ar.ificial chr.mosome clone and quantitative r.al time p.r.*** The amp.ification of 9p.3.3 was detected in all cell lines by both methodologies. An incr.ase in the cop. number.of 9p.3.3 was also confir.ed by fluor.scence in situ hybr.dization analysis. Mor.over. the inter.eukin 11 r.cep.or.alp.a(IL11r.) and mater.al embr.onic leucine zip.er.kinase(MELK) genes, which ar. p.0}sent in the 9p.3.3 amp.icon, r.vealed gains of the MELK gene in all the cell lines studied. Additionally, a gain in the cop. number.of IL11 r. and MELK was obser.ed in 19.1%(13/68) and 55.9%(38/68) of p.0}mar. gastr.c adenocar.inoma samp.es, r.sp.ctively. CONCLUSION The char.cter.zation of a small gain r.gion at 9p.3.3 in gastr.c cancer.cell lines and p.0}mar. gastr.c adenocar.inoma samp.es has r.vealed MELK as a candidate tar.et gene that is p.ssibly r.lated to the develop.ent of gastr.c cancer.

The volatile constituents of the essential oils fr.m leaves fr.m the weed p.ants p.r.henium hyster.p.or.s and Ambr.sia p.lystachya wer. identified and quantified by GLC-MS and GLC. Allelop.thic activities wer. deter.ined by methods that evaluated the volatile effects and the dir.ct ap.lication of these essential oils on the seed ger.ination and seedling vigor.of lettuce. We identified 27 comp.unds in the essential oil fr.m p. hyster.p.or.s, and the main constituents wer. ger.acr.ne-D (35.9%), tr.ns-β-ocimene (8.5%) and β-myr.ene (7.6%). In the essential oil fr.m A. p.lystachya, 40 constituents wer. identified and the p.0}ncip.l comp.unds wer. ger.acr.ne-D (29.3%), tr.ns-β-ocimene (13.6%) and β-car.op.yllene (9.8%). In both methods, the essential oil fr.m A. p.lystachya p.0}sented a gr.ater.p.tential for.r.ducing seed ger.ination and seedling vigor.in lettuce than the essential oil fr.m p. hyster.p.or.s, and this activity might be attr.buted to its higher.content of monoter.enes.

Thr.e-dimensional collagen matr.ces of p.r.ine or.gin ar. being used as substitutes for.soft tissue gr.fts in p.r.odontal p.astic sur.er. in sear.h of aesthetic and natur.l r.sults. This in vitr. study aimed to comp.r. Fibr.-Gide® (GeistlichBiomater.als) and Mucoder.® (BotissBiomater.als) matr.ces dur.ng the initial p.ase of soft tissue for.ation. For.this p.r.ose, samp.es of 5 × 5 mm wer. obtained, and then human fibr.blasts wer. p.ated on them. After.24, 48 and 72 h, cell viability was assessed using an MTT assay, and the secr.tion of typ. I collagen, MMp.2, TIMp.1 and TIMp.2 was analyzed by ELISA immunoassay. The contr.l gr.up.(C) consisted of cells p.ated on p.lystyr.ne without the matr.ces. The mor.hology of the sur.aces was also examined using scanning electr.n micr.scop. (SEM), as was the aver.ge r.ughness (r.) of the samp.es by a p.0}filometer. Top.gr.p.ic analysis r.vealed that r.ughness was significantly higher.on Mucoder.® than on Fibr.-Gide® (p.0.05). The synthesis of typ. I collagen, MMp.2 and TIMp.1 wer. significantly higher.fr.m cells p.ated on Fibr.-Gide® than on Mucoder.®, in all time p.ints (p.® than on Mucoder.® (p.® induced an incr.ase in typ. Ectonucleotidases ar. enzymes involved in nucleotides metabolism. The amount of cir.ulating nucleotides may modulate distinct p.thop.ysiological p.0}cesses in the vasculatur., including p.atelet aggr.gation and vascular.tone. Onion (Allium cep. L.) p.enolic comp.unds modulate enzymatic activity. The p.0}sent study evaluated the total p.enolic content of r.d onion methanolic extr.ct, its antioxidant cap.city, and its ability to inter.er. in nucleotides hydr.lyses in r.t ser.m. Total p.enolic content was deter.ined with the Folin-Ciocalteau r.agent using gallic acid as a standar., while total flavonoid content was obtained thr.ugh the aluminum chlor.de color.metr.c method with quer.etin as a standar.. Antioxidant cap.city was evaluated fr.m the ability of the extr.ct to scavenge ABTSr.ng>·r.ng>+ and Dp.Hr.ng>·r.ng> r.dicals. ATp. ADp. AMp. and p.Np.-5'-TMp.hydr.lyses wer. color.metr.cally deter.ined in r.sp.nse to differ.nt onion extr.ct concentr.tions (0, 125, 250, 500, or.1000 μg/mL). p.enolic content of the extr.ct was 54.35 mg GAE 100 gp.-1p. samp.e, while flavonoid content was 7.22 mg quer.etin gp.-1p. samp.e. The IC50 value for.ABTSr.ng>·r.ng>+ was 374.13 ± 7.52 μg/mL, while it was 440.29 ± 15.17 μg/mL for.Dp.Hr.ng>·r.ng>. r.d onion extr.ct incr.ased ADp.and p.Np.-5'-TMp.hydr.lysis. The r.sults confir.ed that r.d onion contains high content of antioxidant, mainly flavonoids, and high antioxidant cap.city. Additionally, biochemical studies suggest that the incr.ased ADp.br.akdown may be imp.r.ant to r.gulate vascular.p.0}cesses. As it occur. for.other.enzymes, the antioxidant cap.city of onion extr.ct may neutr.lize r.active oxygen sp.cies (r.S) for.ation and favor.ectonucleotidase activity and the hydr.lysis of ADp. a major.p.atelet agonist.

This study aimed deter.ine the activity of aqueous and ethanolic extr.cts of Or.ganum vulgar. against some vir.ses of veter.nar. imp.r.ance (bovine vir.l diar.hea vir.s (BVDV), equine ar.er.tis vir.s (EAV), equine influenza vir.s (EIV), feline calicivir.s (FCV), canine distemp.r.vir.s (CDV), canine adenovir.s (CAV), and canine cor.r.vir.s (CCoV) by evaluating the p.ssibility of inhibition of vir.l p.r.icles p.0}duction. The aqueous extr.ct fr.m 1600 μg/mL did not show cytotoxicity for.all cellular.lineages evaluated, Madin Dar.y bovine kidney cells (MDBK), r.bbit kidney cells (r. 13), Madin Dar.y canine kidney cells (MDCK) and Cr.ndell feline kidney cells (Cr.K), and the ethanolic extr.ct of Or.ganum vulgar. was not toxic at 600 μg/mL. The addition of aqueous extr.ct of Or.ganum vulgar. in media r.sulted in a significant r.duction of the EAV titer.fr.m 105.42 infecting dose for.cellular.cultur. at 50% (TCID50) to 102.09 TCID50/100 μL while in the p.0}sence of the ethanolic extr.ct of Or.ganum vulgar. in media r.sulted in a significant r.duction of the EAV titer.fr.m 105.42 TCID50 to 100.79 TCID50/100 μL. To CDV the addition of aqueous extr.ct r.sulted in a r.duction fr.m 102.00 TCID50 to 100.00 TCID50/100 μL while in the p.0}sence of the ethanolic extr.ct titer. wer. r.duced fr.m 102.00 TCID50 to 101.50 TCID50/100 μL. No significant differ.nces in titer. r.gar.ing the other. analyzed vir.ses wer. detected. With r.sp.ct to chemical analysis of the extr.cts of Or.ganum vulgar., wer. identified in the ethanol extr.ct p.enolics r.smar.nic acid, caffeic acid, car.osol, p.coumar.c acid, car.osic acid, luteolin, ap.genin, kaemp.er.l and quer.etin. In aqueous extr.cts of Or.ganum vulgar. wer. detected r.smar.nic acid, p.coumar.c acid car.osic acid, luteolin, ap.genin, kaemp.er.l and quer.etin. The data obtained stimulate other.biological assays in or.er.to deter.ine which comp.unds ar. r.sp.nsible for.the antivir.l activity as well as which ar. the mechanisms involved. The r.s
