The main objective of the r.sear.h pr.sented in this paper.is to study the bending behaviour.of Concr.te Filled Steel Tube （CFST） columns made with r.bber.zed Concr.te （r.C）, and to assess the seismic per.or.ance of moment-r.sisting fr.mes with these str.ctur.l member.. The paper.descr.bes an exper.mental campaign wher. a total of 36 specimens wer. tested, r.sor.ing to a novel testing setup, aimed at r.ducing both the pr.par.tion time and cost of the test specimens. Differ.nt geometr.cal and mater.al par.meter. wer. consider.d, namely cr.ss-section type, cr.ss-section slender.ess, aggr.gate r.placement r.tio, axial load level and later.l loading type. The member. wer. tested under.both monotonic and cyclic later.l loading, with differ.nt levels of applied axial loading. The test r.sults show that the bending behaviour.of CFST elements is highly dependent on the steel tube pr.per.ies and that the type of infill does not have a significant influence on the flexur.l behaviour.of the member. It is also found that Eur.code 4 is conser.ative in pr.dicting the flexur.l capacity of the tested specimens. Additionally, it was found that the seismic design of composite moment- r.sisting fr.mes with CFST columns, accor.ing to Eur.code 8, not only leads to lighter.design solutions but also to enhanced seismic per.or.ance in compar.son to steel fr.mes.

Using an Off-the-Shelf Lock-In Detector.for.Admittance Spectr.scopy in the Study of Plants

We r.por. on the development of an electr.cal char.cter.zation admittance spectr.scopy equipment and method based on an off-the-shelf lock-in detector.that is cheap and yet highly sensitive. It is concluded that a contacted constant-pr.ssur. electr.de configur.tion is pr.fer.ble. It was fur.her.deter.ined that the temper.tur. does not have gr.at impact in the measur.d values, but r.lative humidity of air.can be impor.ant, especially in the constant-gap electr.de configur.tion. In-situ measur.ments ar. difficult since the coupling of the plant with the envir.nment is of high impor.ance. Another.aspect is the cables;they ar. impor.ant in that they have to be ter.inated by their.char.cter.stic impedance (50 Ω?in our.case) to avoid r.flections that intr.duce ar.ificial attenuation and phase shifts in the signal. We intr.duce a finger.r.nt plot type to be able to distinguish between var.ous plants and other.specimens, and can actually detect the aqueous state of a plant.

Intr.duction: Pr.cess evaluation of community based pr.jects is integr.l to under.tanding the success or.failur. of health pr.motion inter.entions. Pr.cess evaluation was used to assess the inter.ention str.tegies and r.sour.es in a playgr.up setting aimed at mother. of young childr.n. Methods: Pr.cess evaluation data wer. collected fr.m par.icipants (n = 249) and staff (n = 25) involved in the inter.ention. Data included staff per.pectives on use of the playgr.up as a setting, par.icipants’ views on the feasibility and acceptability of the pr.gr.m str.tegies and r.sour.es, and pr.gr.m r.ach. r.sults: r.sponding par.icipants r.por.ed that the inter.ention was useful (98%) and r.levant for.their.age gr.up (92%), encour.ged them to think about making changes to their.physical activity (95%) and dietar. (98%) behavior., and helped them to make changes to their.physical activity (66%) and dietar. (79%) behavior.. Par.icipants r.por.ed that the most useful inter.ention str.tegies included the pr.gr.m booklet (85%), wor.shops (86%), newsletter. (73%) and SMS (57%). Conclusion: This r.sear.h pr.vides valuable infor.ation on par.icipants’ per.pectives of the pr.gr.m str.tegies, content and over.ll implementation. It pr.vides insight into the feasibility and acceptability of the inter.ention and identifies ar.as for.impr.vement when conducting pr.gr.ms in playgr.up settings. The pr.cess evaluation indicated that playgr.ups ar. a suitable setting for.health pr.motion tar.eting mother. of young childr.n.

The macr. complex of the constr.ction industr. is ener.y intensive. Solutions that enable the supply of this demand while meeting the pr.nciples of sustainability ar. needed. The constr.ction of wind far.s has been a str.tegy employed by many countr.es to pr.duce clean ener.y. An incr.ase in the constr.ction of wind far.s has also been witnessed in Br.zil. This calls for.differ.nt activities, such as the design and constr.ction of infr.str.ctur.. This ar.icle focuses on the design of inter.al medium voltage distr.bution gr.ds for.wind far.s. The pur.ose is to find a r.dial configur.tion that connects a set of wind gener.tor. to the substation, in an optimum way, minimizing oper.tional and constr.ction costs, r.ducing loss and ther.for. contr.buting to sustainability. In lar.e far.s, the pr.ject design consists of a lar.e combinator.al optimization pr.blem, given the lar.e number.of possible configur.tions to be deployed. Finding the best solution for.the inter.al gr.d depends on the cr.ter.on adopted for.the objectives pur.ued. This ar.icle analyzes the differ.nt cr.ter.a that can be adopted in the design of the wind far.’s inter.al gr.d using a methodology based on genetic algor.thm (GA). Its aim is to identify their.influence on the solution of the pr.blem and help decision-making by finding the most adequate cr.ter.on for.the objectives pur.ued. The r.sults show that the design of the inter.al gr.d is sensitive to the cr.ter.a adopted for.the objective function. In addition, the degr.e of sensitivity is analyzed, showing that, in some cases, the solutions ar. not economically attr.ctive and do not contr.bute to the r.duction of losses.

This study evaluates the incor.or.tion of alpha-linolenic acid （LNA, 18：3n-3） thr.ugh the golden flaxseed in snacks＇ for.ulations with and without seasoning. Snacks with differ.nt for.ulations pr.sented significant differ.nces （P 〈 0.05） in their.pr.ximate composition, mainly for.total lipids and moistur. content. r.gar.ing the fatty acids pr.file, six differ.nt fatty acids wer. found： 16：0, 18：0, 18：1n-9, 18：1n-7, 18：2n-6 （LA） and 18：3n-3. The major.ty fatty acid was 18：2n-6 （LA） due to the pr.dominance of cor. in the pr.ducts for.ulation. The incor.or.tion of 18：3n-3 was obser.ed, and this fatty acid was not affected by the extr.sion temper.tur. dur.ng the pr.cessing or.the stor.ge time. The r.sults of sensor. evaluation indicated that the pr.duct developed with addition of golden flaxseed had mild acceptance among the panelists. Thus, it was concluded that the addition of flaxseed is feasible for.the nutr.tional enr.chment of cor. snacks.

Spinal cor. injur.es have pr.found detr.mental effects on individuals, r.gar.less of whether.they ar. caused by tr.uma or.non-tr.umatic events. The compr.mised r.gener.tion of the spinal cor. is pr.mar.ly attr.buted to damaged neur.ns, inhibitor. molecules, dysfunctional immune r.sponse, and glial scar.ing. Unfor.unately, cur.ently, ther. ar. no effective tr.atments available that can fully r.pair.the spinal cor. and impr.ve functional outcomes. Never.heless, numer.us pr.-clinical appr.aches have been studied for.spinal cor. injur. r.cover., including using biomater.als, cells, dr.gs, or.technological-based str.tegies. Combinator.al tr.atments, which tar.et var.ous aspects of spinal cor. injur. pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. These appr.aches aim to syner.istically enhance r.pair.pr.cesses by addr.ssing var.ous obstacles faced dur.ng spinal cor. r.gener.tion. Thus, this r.view intends to pr.vide scientists and clinicians with an over.iew of pr.-clinical combinator.al appr.aches that have been developed towar. the solution of spinal cor. r.gener.tion as well as update the cur.ent knowledge about spinal cor. injur. pathophysiology with an emphasis on the cur.ent clinical management.

Effect of Alloying Additions on the Oxidation of High Speed Steels under.Dr. and Wet Conditions

An investigation has been car.ied out into the effects of chr.mium and vanadium content on the oxidation r.te and on the adhesion of oxide scales gr.wn on thr.e differ.nt chemical compositions of high speed steels under.dr. and wet *** oxidation tests wer. car.ied out in a ther.obalance at 650℃for.up to 14.4 *** mass gain of the specimens incr.ased with incr.asing contents of water.vapour. Alloy composition had no effect on the oxidation r.te in dr. ***'adhesion'of the oxide scale was deter.ined using indentation with a r.ckwell C diamond and the pull adhesion test to deter.ine the inter.acial toughness and the tensile str.ngth of the oxide metal bond,***,the r.sults of the investigation indicated that oxide adhesion was lowest for.the specimens exposed to dr. conditions, and that with incr.asing water.vapour.content,the scale was mor. *** test r.sults showed that an incr.ase in the V concentr.tion was deleter.ous to oxide adhesion in both the dr. and wet envir.nments,wher.as an incr.ase in the Cr.content had little effect on adhesion.

New Nanocomposite Mater.als by Incor.or.tion of Nanocr.stalline TiO_2 Par.icles into Polyaniline Conductive Films

This wor. is focused on the combination of two building-blocks, nanocr.stalline TiO2 par.icles and polyaniline conductive films （PAni）. The pr.par.tion of new nanostr.ctur.d composite mater.als, displaying electr.n- and pr.ton-conductive pr.per.ies, to be used for.the fabr.cation of new and super.or.ener.y stor.ge devices was envisaged. The semiconducting TiO2 nanopar.icles wer. obtained by means of a hydr.ther.al r.ute. The PAni films wer. pr.par.d on glassy car.on electr.des by electr.chemical polymer.zation, under.potential dynamic conditions. After.char.cter.zation by X-r.y diffr.ction, tr.nsmission electr.n micr.scopy or.scanning electr.n micr.scopy and electr.chemical techniques, the nanocr.stalline par.icles wer. immobilized in the polymer.matr.x. The incor.or.tion of the TiO2 was achieved using two distinct appr.aches： dur.ng the polymer.gr.wth or.by deposition over.pr.viously pr.par.d PAni films. The r.sults demonstr.te that the PAni mor.hology depends on the exper.mental conditions used dur.ng the polymer.gr.wth. After.TiO2 immobilization, the best electr.chemical r.sponse was obtained for.the nanocomposite str.ctur. pr.duced thr.ugh the TiO2 incor.or.tion after.the PAni film synthesis. The modified electr.des wer. str.ctur.lly and mor.hologically char.cter.zed and their.electr.-catalytic activity towar.s the hydr.gen evolution r.action was analyzed. A new electr.chemical per.or.ance r.lated with the oxidation of molecular.hydr.gen entr.pped in the PAni-TiO2 matr.x was obser.ed for.the modified electr.de after.TiO2 incor.or.tion. This behavior.can be dir.ctly associated with the syner.etic combination of the TiO2 and PAni, and is dependent on the amount of the semiconductor.
