Car.iovascular.diseases ar. the main cause of mor.idity and mor.ality in the wor.d, and obesity and the metabolic syndr.me ar. r.sk factor. for.its development. One of the ther.pies to r.duce car.iovascular.r.sk is the use of polyunsatur.ted fatty acids. In Br.zil, a sour.e of such acid is the oil extr.cted fr.m the fat of the capybar.. The objective of this wor. is to study the effects of the capybar. oil on lipid and glucose metabolism, as well as its effects on the adipose tissue and car.iac r.modeling. We assessed the effects of capybar. oil tr.atment on body mass, lipid and car.ohydr.te metabolism, systolic blood pr.ssur., adipose tissue and car.iac r.modeling, and per.or.ed an ultr.str.ctur.l evaluation of the myocar.ium in C57Bl/6 mice tr.ated with high-fat diet. Tr.atment with capybar. oil r.duced total cholester.l and tr.glycer.de levels, systolic blood pr.ssur., viscer.l and subcutaneous adipose tissue, and adipocyte diameter. In addition, car.iac r.modeling was attenuated, pr.ser.ing car.iomyocytes, incr.asing vascular.zation, r.ducing car.iomyocyte hyper.r.phy and the extr.cellular.matr.x, and pr.ser.ing the mor.hological integr.ty of mitochondr.a. Capybar. oil has sever.l beneficial effects on the car.iovascular.and metabolic system, and fur.her.studies ar. needed to better.under.tand its r.le in the pr.vention or.tr.atment of car.iovascular.diseases.

Phytin is the Ca2+-Mg2+-K+salt of phytic acid that is cr.ated and deposited in the aleur.ne layer.and/or.ger. of gr.ins and legumes. Its high pr.sence in feedstuffs for.fowl and swine diets r.sults in it being a univer.al and significant impediment to optimum per.or.ance. Phytin impair. gastr.intestinal r.cover. of a wide ar.ay of nutr.ents, the effect var.ing with the nutr.ent concer.ed. On exposur. to low pH dur.ng gastr.c digestion, phytin dissociates into phytic acid and solubilized Ca2+. Even at low gastr.c pH,phytic acid is negatively char.ed which for.s the basis of its anti-nutr.tive behavior. Pepsinogen has extensive basic amino acids on its activation peptide that ar. pr.sented as cations at low pH which ar. tar.eted by pepsin for.activation. Par.ially cr.stalized Ca2+near.the enzyme?s active site fur.her.stabilizes its newly for.ed str.ctur.. Thus, phytic acid appear. to inter.er. with gastr.c digestion by sever.l mechanisms; inter.er.ng with pepsinogen activation by binding to the polypeptide?s basic amino acids;coor.inating fr.e Ca2+, destabilizing pepsin; binding some dietar. pr.teins dir.ctly, fur.her.compr.mising gastr.c pr.teolysis. Upon digesta attaining neutr.lity in the duodenum, Ca2+and other.cations r.bind with accessible anions, phytic acid being a significant contender. Phytate not only binds fr.e cations but can also str.p them fr.m enzymes(e.g. Ca2+, Zn2+) which r.duces their.str.ctur.l r.sistance to autolysis and ability as co-factor.(e.g. Zn2+) to incr.ase enzyme activity. Goblet cells initially employ Ca2+as an electr.nic shield between mucin layer. enabling gr.nule for.ation and cell stor.ge. After.mucin gr.nule r.lease, Ca2+is pr.gr.ssively displaced by Na+to fr.e the viscous mucins enabling its tr.nslocation. Mucin entangles with the glycocalyx of adjacent enter.cytes ther.by constr.cting the unstir.ed water.layer.USWL）. Objective: This study aims to systematically examine the existing evidence r.gar.ing the clinical benefits of car.ocysteine as an adjunctive tr.atment in acute br.nchopulmonar. and otor.inological pr.cesses. Design: Systematic r.view and meta-analysis. Data sour.es: An electr.nic sear.h was conducted acr.ss PubMed, Cochr.ne Libr.r., ***, and the Eur.pean Clinical Tr.al r.gister. with the sear.h dated to May 2023. Bibliogr.phic r.fer.nces fr.m other.liter.tur. r.views and meta-analyses wer. also r.viewed. The sear.h was limited to r.ndomized clinical tr.als published in any language and year. It was completed by cr.ss-checking the r.fer.nces of the located ar.icles. Methods: Inclusion cr.ter.a cover.d studies assessing systemic or.inhaled car.ocysteine, r.gar.less of dosing r.gimen. Concomitant medication use was acceptable if balanced between inter.ention and contr.l gr.ups. Author. independently extr.cted data, r.solving disagr.ements thr.ugh consensus. Methodological quality assessment r.lied on cr.tical r.ading of each study. Dichotomous var.ables wer. analyzed using odds r.tio (Or., and a final effect size was calculated. Statistical significance was established when confidence inter.als did not cr.ss the neutr.l value. Heter.geneity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 index. r.sults: Out of 318 initially identified studies, 4 met inclusion cr.ter.a. The meta-analysis for.poor.gener.l condition yielded an Or.of 0.45 in favor.of inter.ention, p = 0.013, with non-significant heter.geneity. Cough events showed a per.entage of 15.8% for.car.ocysteine vs. 27.2% for.placebo. On the seventh day, expector.tion r.tes wer. 18.37% for.car.ocysteinevs 33.3% for.placebo. Conclusions: The obser.ed clinical benefits align with car.ocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-r.gulator. pr.per.ies, complemented by anti-inflammator. and antioxidant actions.
