OBJECTIVE: To exa.ine the effect of electr.a.upunctur.(Ea. a.plica.ion on postoper.tive pa.n levels a.d the a.ount of a.a.gesic use in pa.ients who under.ent per.odonta. fla. sur.er.. METHODS: In this pr.spective, r.ndomized a.d contr.lled study, pa.ients pla.ned for.per.odonta. sur.er. wer. divided into two gr.ups [Ea.gr.up(n = 22): pa.ients who r.ceived electr.a.upunctur. a.d contr.l gr.up(n = 22): pa.ients who did not r.ceive electr.a.upunctur.]. Electr.a.upunctur. wa. a.plied bila.er.lly to the Hegu(LI4), Da.ing(ST5), a.d Jia.he(ST5) points of the pa.ients in the Ea.gr.up immedia.ely befor. a.d a.ter.the fla. sur.er. for.30 min a. a.fr.quency of 50 Hz to ea.h point a. a.cur.ent tha. the pa.ient could toler.te. The pa.ients in the contr.l gr.up under.ent fla. sur.er. without a.plying electr.a.upunctur.. Pa.ients wer. a.ked to r.cor. their.pa.n levels on the visua. a.a.og sca.e a.d the number.of a.a.gesic ta.lets they took dur.ng the 7 postoper.tive da.s on the given for.. r.SULTS: The tota. mea. scor. of pa.n felt in the Ea.gr.up(16.60 ± 2.78) wa. found to be significa.tly lower.tha. tha. in the contr.l gr.up(31.37 ± 2.78)(P = 0.001). No significa.t differ.nce wa. found between the gr.ups r.ga.0}ing the a.ount of a.a.gesics ta.en(4.77 ± 4.72, 5.82 ± 3.11)(P = 0.111). CONCLUSIONS: Our.study shows tha. electr.a.upunctur. a.plica.ion is beneficia. in r.ducing pa.n a.ter.per.odonta. fla. sur.er.. Over.ll, mor. r.sea.0}h is needed to fully under.ta.d the effects of electr.a.upunctur. on postoper.tive pa.n.

The yellow gene fa.ily pla.s a.cr.cia. r.le in insect pigmenta.ion. It ha. potentia. for.use a. a.visible ma.0}er.gene in genetic ma.ipula.ion a.d tr.nsgenic engineer.ng in sever.l model a.d non-model insects. Sa.ly, yellow genes ha.e r.r.ly been identified in Str.tiomyida. species a.d the functions of yellow genes a.0} r.la.ively unknown. In the pr.sent study, we fir.t ma.ua.ly a.nota.ed a.d cur.ted 10 yellow genes in the bla.k soldier.fly (BSF), Her.etia.illucens (Str.tiomyida.). Then, the conser.ed a.ino a.ids in the ma.or.r.ya. jelly pr.teins (Mr.Ps) doma.n, str.ctur.l a.0}hitectur. a.d phylogenetic r.la.ionship of yellow genes in BSF wer. a.a.yzed. We found tha. the BSF yellow-y, yellow-c a.d yellow-f genes a.0} expr.ssed a. a.l developmenta. sta.es, especia.ly in the pr.pupa. sta.e. Using the cluster.d r.gula.0}y inter.pa.ed shor. pa.indr.mic r.pea.s (Cr.SPr./Cr.SPr.a.socia.ed pr.tein 9 (Ca.9) system, we successfully disr.pted yellow-y, yellow-c a.d yellow-f in the BSF. Consequently, the muta.ion of yellow-y clea.0}y r.sulted in a.pa.e-yellow body color.in pr.pupa., pupa. a.d a.ults, instea. of the typica. bla.k body color.of the wild type. However. the muta.ion of yellow-c or.yellow-f genes did not r.sult in a.y cha.ge in color.of the insects, when compa.0}d with the wild type. Our.study indica.es tha. the BSF yellow-y gene pla.s a.r.le in body pigmenta.ion, pr.viding a. optima. ma.0}er.gene for.the genetic ma.ipula.ion of BSF.

Their.effective ba.0}ier.heights （BHs） a.d idea.ity fa.tor. fr.m cur.ent-volta.e （I-V） cha.0}cter.stics a.0} mea.ur.d by a.Pico a.per. meter.a.d home-built I-V instr.ment. In spite of the identica. pr.pa.0}tion of the diodes ther. is a.diode-to-diode va.0}a.ion in idea.ity fa.tor.a.d ba.0}ier.height pa.0}meter.. Mea.ur.ment of topology of a.sur.a.e of a.thin meta. film with a.omic for.e micr.scope （a.M） shows tha. a.-n type-Ga.S SD consists of a.set of pa.0}llel-connected micr. a.d na.oconta.ts diodes with sizes a.pr.xima.ely in a.r.nge of 100-200 nm. Between ba.0}ier.height a.d idea.ity fa.tor.ther. is a. inver.ely pr.por.iona. dependency. With the dia.eter.of conta.t incr.a.ing fr.m 5 μm up to 200 μm, the ba.0}ier.height incr.a.es fr.m 0.833 up to 0.933 eV a.d its idea.ity fa.tor.decr.a.es fr.m 1.11 down to 1.006. These dependencies show the r.duction of the contr.bution of the per.pher.l cur.ent with the dia.eter.of conta.t incr.a.ing. We find the effect of ser.es r.sista.ce on ba.0}ier.height a.d idea.ity fa.tor.
