Mapping of hard rock aquifer system and artificial recharge zonation were carried out in an area of 325 km^2 in parts of the Perambalur District,Tamil Nadu,*** district has been declared as one of the over-exploited regions in Tamil Nadu by the Central Groundwater *** raise the groundwater level,suitable recharge zones were identified and artificial recharge structures are suggested using geomatics technology in the present *** this end,various thematic maps concerning lithology,soil,geomorphology,land use,land cover,slope,lineament,lineament density,drainage,drainage density and groundwater depth level were *** hornblende gneiss(244 km^2)covered most of the study area followed by charnockites(68 km^2).Structural hills and rocky pediments characterize the major geomorphological features in the targeted area,and are followed by deep moderated *** area is mostly used as crop and fallow land,followed by scrub land and deciduous *** the study area,the slopes are predominantly very gentle(142 km^2)and nearly level(66 km^2)***,Groundwater level data of 58 wells have been generated,in which the minimum and maximum depth were 3 and 28 m *** under the GIS environment has been carried out using all the thematic layers to identify the groundwater prospect zone through the introduction of weight and rank *** output performances were classified into very poor,poor,moderate,good and excellent *** these classes were further divided into two groups as suitable and non-suitable area for the selection of recharge *** rock fractures were mapped as lineaments from satellite images,and besides that,rose diagram was also generated to find out the trend of the ***,fracture data of 146 numbers have been collected using Brunton compass to generate rose diagram and were correlated with the rose diagram derived from *** present study significantly brought up

Polyaniline,ZnO and polyaniline/ZnO nanocomposite thin films are coated on glass substrates using the spray pyrolysis *** samples are characterized by the XrD,SEM,EDAX,UV-Vis and I-V characteristics. The XrD analyses confirm that the spray-coated polyaniline and ZnO thin films have orthorhombic and hexagonal structures,respectively,and optical bandgap energy decreases from 3.81 to 3.41 eV with the addition of a Zn *** analysis of the polyaniline/ZnO nanocomposite thin films shows that there is an agglomeration of ZnO particles with uniform distribution in the polyaniline matrix,and the diode characteristics of the polyaniline /ZnO nanocomposite show weak rectification *** such as the ideality factor,reverse saturation current and barrier height are calculated from the I-V characteristics.

AIM: To find out the effect of Cat's whiskers (Cleome gynandra L., Capparidaceae) flavonoid (CWF) for the scavenging of free radicals in some inflammatory cells. METHODS: Mouse erythrocyte's hemoglobin, peritoneal macrophage, and peripheral blood lymphocytes were oxidized either by some of toxic chemicals (nitrite, carbon tetrachloride) or by enzymatic stimulation (glu- coseoxidase) to produce oxidative damage to cells. The protective effect of the CWF was examined, and the biochemical mechanism of action was also investigated in terms of the scavenging of free radicals. rESULTS: CWF (1 20 μg mL 1 ) decreased glucoseoxidase and nitrite induce oxidative damage in a concentration dependent manner in an in vitro model and inhibited the lysis of rBC [(28.64 ± 13.03)% and (70.31 ± 1.80)%] when mice were treated with CWF (25 and 50 mg kg 1 ). To assess the antioxidant potential of CWF in the lymphocytes and macrophages in living animals, the effect of CWF was measured on the elevated level of superoxide anions production in the cells. CWF scavenged the superoxide anion (O 2 ) production and inhibited the O 2 induced destruction of protein and lipid biomolecules. CONCLUSION: The study has established that the CWF mediates its antioxidant activity in some chronic inflammatory cells via its free radical scavenging activity.

Background The pink bollworm,Pectinophora gossypiella(Saunders),is a devastating global pest of cotton that has caused substantial economic damage to Bt Bollgard-Ⅱ~?cotton plants in recent years due to the evolution of Bt *** associated fitness cost is assumed to be one of the factors delaying the development of resistance against Bt transgenic ***,the present study was undertaken to assess the biological performance of pink bollworms by comparing the life history and demographic parameters of a resistant(Field-r)and susceptible(Lab-S)*** Prolonged larval duration(23.40 days in Field-r vs 18.80 days in Lab-S population),total life cycle(male=50.00 vs 42.80 days;female=53.60 vs 46.20 days),reduced fecundity(100.60 vs 154.20 eggs/female)and fertility(88.00 vs 138.00 fertile eggs/female)was *** demographic parameters indicated a significant reduction in the net reproductive rate(184.27 vs 276.72),innate capacity for increase in number(0.11 vs 0.15),finite rate of increase in number(1.12 vs 1.16 female progenies produced/female/day),weekly multiplication rate(2.16 vs 2.86),potential fecundity(545.06 vs 634.11 eggs),number of hypothetical F_2 females(33955.65 vs 76572.41),but longer mean length of generation(47.54 vs 37.74 days)and population doubling time(6.30 vs 4.62 days)in Field-r compared with Lab-S population.A stage-specific life to ble demonstrated the differences in survival rates between susceptible and resistant populations at various life stages,with the resistant population having higher generation mortality(0.22vs 0.19).Conclusions The study confirms the involvement of fitness costs associated with Bt resistance in *** reduced reproductive fitness,the resistant population tried prolonging the larval stage as a compensatory mechanism to repair the damaged host tissues due to Bt intoxication and for accumulation of enough nutrient reserves for normal pupation and adult *** of a high p

Laparoscopic surgery is a new abdominal surgical procedure which helps the patients in many ways like less hospital stay, faster recovery and reduced pain. The main disadvantage in this surgical procedure is the reduced haptic perception by the surgeons due to the usage of laparoscopic instrument to handle tissues which in turn cause damage of it as compared to an open surgery. The primary aim of this investigation was to compare the pinch force applied during two different methods of laparoscopic grasping: Finger and Palm grasp. A low cost force sensing resistor tailor made for the grasper tip was designed and fabricated for quantifying the grasper tip force in the study. The results indicate more pinch force was applied during palm grasp as compared to finger grasp so as to prevent the slippage of the tissues from the jaws of the laparoscopic graspers.

The Metal Matrix Composites application has increased in many areas of science and technology, because of its additional physical, wear and mechanical properties. In comparison with all MMC’s, aluminum-based MMC’s are finding wide applications due to their better strength to weight ratio, better stiffness, and high thermal conductivity as well as very good wear and corrosion properties. The properties of a composite mainly depend on better distribution of reinforcement in the matrix, which is very difficult to achieve. Basically redmud is a byproduct of alumina, and it is waste product obtained during Bayer’s process. This waste product must be recycled else it may be dangerous to the environment. redmud can be used as reinforcement for aluminium composites in order to achieve better properties. The proposed research work includes preparation of Aluminum 6061-red mud metal matrix composites using liquid metallurgy route following stir casting technique. An alloy Al6061 containing 0.60 percent silicon and Magnesium of 0.82 percent was used as the matrix material. Two different compositions of the Aluminum 6061-red mud composites are prepared in addition to the base matrix and evaluated for mechanical properties also the force acting on the cutting tool at different spindle speeds during machining of the composite materials were analyzed.
